## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## EU TED Tenders Scraper: public procurement notices by keyword, CPV code and country

**Export EU public tenders from TED (Tenders Electronic Daily)**, the EU's official procurement journal, without learning the TED expert query syntax. Filter by **keyword, buyer country, CPV code and publication date**, and get one clean row per notice: title, buyer, buyer country, publication date, **submission deadline**, **estimated value and currency**, CPV codes, procedure type, contract nature, place of performance (NUTS) and direct links to the notice page and PDF. No API key, no login. **$2 per 1,000 notices.**

Built for bid managers, tender alert services, procurement consultants and AI agents that need a simple **TED API / EU tenders API**.

| Max per run | 5,000 notices, newest first |

### Ready-made example inputs (copy into the Input JSON tab)

**IT services tenders in France and Germany, last 7 days**

```json
{"cpvCodes": ["72000000"], "countries": ["FRA", "DEU"], "daysBack": 7, "maxItems": 200}
```

**Cybersecurity tenders in Spain and Portugal, last 3 days**

```json
{"keywords": ["cybersecurity"], "countries": ["ESP", "PRT"], "daysBack": 3}
```

**Construction tenders anywhere on TED, last 24 hours (daily alert)**

```json
{"cpvCodes": ["45000000"], "daysBack": 1, "maxItems": 1000}
```

**Cleaning services in Italy, last 30 days**

```json
{"keywords": ["cleaning"], "countries": ["ITA"], "daysBack": 30, "maxItems": 500}
```

**Award and result notices too (not only open calls)**

```json
{"keywords": ["software"], "countries": ["ESP"], "daysBack": 7, "onlyContractNotices": false}
```

Common CPV codes: 72000000 IT services, 48000000 software packages, 45000000 construction work, 90910000 cleaning, 79000000 business services, 71000000 architecture and engineering, 33000000 medical equipment, 50000000 repair and maintenance, 80000000 education and training, 60000000 transport.

### Input

| Field | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| `keywords` | `["software"]` | Full-text search; a notice matches if it contains any keyword |
| `countries` | `["ESP","FRA"]` | Buyer country, 3-letter ISO codes. Empty = every country on TED |
| `cpvCodes` | `["72000000"]` | CPV codes. A parent code also matches its sub-codes (72000000 returns notices tagged 72200000, 72268000...). Short codes are padded with zeros (`72` becomes `72000000`) |
| `daysBack` | `7` | Published in the last N days (1 to 365) |
| `onlyContractNotices` | `true` | Default true: open calls for tender and prior information notices used as a call for competition. Set false to include award and result notices |
| `maxItems` | `100` | Newest first, up to 5,000 |

### Output fields

`publicationNumber`, `title`, `buyer`, `buyerCountry`, `publicationDate`, `deadline`, `noticeType`, `procedureType`, `contractNature`, `cpv`, `estimatedValue`, `currency`, `placeOfPerformance`, `url`, `pdfUrl`.

`title` and `buyer` are taken in English when TED has an English version, otherwise Spanish, French, German or the first language available. `deadline` is the first lot's tender submission deadline. `estimatedValue` is the sum of the lots' estimated values and is null when the buyer did not publish one. `placeOfPerformance` holds NUTS codes and country codes.

Export to JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or read through the API.

### Use cases

- **Daily tender alerts**: schedule with `daysBack: 1` and send new notices to email, Slack, Google Sheets, Make, Zapier or a webhook.
- **Bid pipeline**: every open call in your CPV codes and target countries, with deadlines and estimated values.
- **Market research**: count tenders per country, CPV code or buyer over the last year.
- **AI agents**: let an assistant answer "what IT tenders closed in Portugal this month?" from live TED data.

### Use from an AI agent (API or MCP)

Add `https://mcp.apify.com?tools=sefran1/eu-ted-tenders-search` to Claude, Cursor, VS Code or any MCP client and the Actor becomes the tool `sefran1--eu-ted-tenders-search`. Or call the API:

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/sefran1~eu-ted-tenders-search/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=$APIFY_TOKEN" \
  -H 'Content-Type: application/json' -d '{"keywords":["cybersecurity"],"countries":["ESP","PRT"],"daysBack":3}'
```

### Pricing

Pay per result: **$0.002 per tender notice ($2 per 1,000)**. No subscription. A search with no matches ends with a clear "0 results" message and costs only the tiny start fee. Example: 1,000 notices = $2.

### FAQ

**What is TED?** Tenders Electronic Daily, the EU's official journal for public procurement. EU buyers must publish tenders above the EU value thresholds there, and some publish smaller ones too.

**Do I need a TED API key?** No. The Actor uses the public TED Search API, which needs no key.

**Can I get a daily tender alert?** Yes. Schedule the Actor with `daysBack: 1` in Apify Schedules and connect an integration (email, Slack, Sheets, webhook).

**Award notices?** Set `onlyContractNotices` to false.

**Can it download tender documents?** No. Each row links to the notice page (`url`) and its PDF (`pdfUrl`); the tender documents themselves stay on the buyer's platform.
