## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Trending Now Scraper

Get **every trending search Google lists on Trending Now** for any country or US state, with **search volume, % increase, start time, active status, category and the related searches** grouped under each trend. Past 4 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours or 7 days.

One request per location, no browser, and results in seconds. The US 24-hour list is usually 500–700 trends. Google's RSS feed shows only the top 10.

### Why this one

- **Complete list.** Every trend on the Trending Now page, not just the RSS top 10. US: about 60 trends for 4 hours, 600 for 24 hours and 3,300 for 7 days.
- **Rich fields.** Search volume, % increase, start and end time, active flag, categories, and up to 150 related searches per trend.
- **Any location.** Every country Google Trends covers, plus regions such as `US-CA`. Put many locations in one run.
- **Filters.** By category (Sports, Business, Technology…), active trends only, or minimum search volume. Sort by relevance, volume or newest.
- **Reliable.** Each request gets a fresh IP and is retried automatically. A location that fails is never charged.

### Input

| Field | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| `geos` | `["US", "GB", "US-CA"]` | Country or region codes. |
| `timeWindow` | `24h` | `4h`, `24h`, `48h`, `7d`. |
| `categories` | `["Sports", "Technology"]` | Optional filter. |
| `activeOnly` | `true` | Only trends still rising. |
| `minSearchVolume` | `10000` | Skip small trends. |
| `sortBy` | `searchVolume` | `relevance` (Google's order), `searchVolume`, `newest`. |
| `maxItemsPerLocation` | `50` | `0` = all. |
| `includeRelatedSearches` | `true` | Related queries grouped under each trend. |

### Output

```json
{
  "rank": 1,
  "googleRank": 1,
  "title": "raptors vs lakers",
  "geo": "US",
  "timeWindow": "24h",
  "searchVolume": 200000,
  "increasePercent": 1000,
  "startedAt": "2026-11-02T06:20:00.000Z",
  "endedAt": null,
  "isActive": true,
  "categories": ["Sports"],
  "relatedSearches": ["lakers vs raptors", "lakers", "raptors", "lakers game"],
  "exploreUrl": "https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?q=raptors%20vs%20lakers&geo=US&date=now%207-d",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-11-02T18:05:11.000Z"
}
```

`rank` is the position after your filters and sorting; `googleRank` is the position on Google's own list. Search volume is Google's rounded bucket (e.g. 200000 means "200K+"). An `increasePercent` of 1000 means "1,000%+".

### Pricing

Pay per result: **$0.50 per 1,000 trends**, plus a small fixed start fee per run. A full US 24-hour list (~600 trends) costs about $0.30. Use `maxItemsPerLocation`, `minSearchVolume` or `categories` to pay only for what you need. Failed locations are free.

### Use cases

- **Content and newsjacking.** Spot rising topics early, then schedule hourly and alert on new trends.
- **SEO.** Feed the related searches into content briefs.
- **Market and media monitoring** across many countries in one run.
- **Dashboards.** Export to Google Sheets, BigQuery or any API via Apify integrations.

### Pair it with

[Google Trends Scraper (Reliable)](https://apify.com/seodatalab/google-trends-scraper) gives you interest over time, interest by region and related queries for any trending term (put the `title` field in as a search term).

### Notes

- Data comes from Google Trends' public Trending Now page. No login and no API key are needed.
- Google decides which trends to list, along with their volumes and categories. This actor returns them as published.

### Pair it with

- [Google Trends Scraper](https://apify.com/seodatalab/google-trends-scraper): interest over time, by region and related queries for any trend.
