## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### What does Bulk Domain Rank, Backlinks & Traffic Checker do?

It returns an authority score, backlink counts and estimated Google traffic for a list of domains in one run. Paste domains or full URLs, pick the country for the traffic estimate, and get a table you can download as CSV, Excel or JSON, or pull through the Apify API.

Use it to size up competitors, qualify sales leads by how big their website is, vet link-building or guest-post targets, and check expired domains, without an Ahrefs, Moz or Semrush subscription.

### What data do you get?

| Field | Meaning |
|-------|---------|
| `rank` | DataForSEO domain rank, 0 to 100, computed from the backlink profile. It plays the same role as Moz Domain Authority or Ahrefs Domain Rating, but it is a different number. |
| `backlinks` | Live backlinks pointing to the domain |
| `referringDomains` | Domains linking to the domain |
| `referringMainDomains` | Root domains linking to the domain |
| `nofollowReferringDomains` | Referring domains whose links are all nofollow |
| `organicTraffic` | Estimated monthly visits from Google organic search in the chosen country |
| `organicKeywords` | Keywords the domain ranks for in Google in that country |
| `paidTraffic`, `paidKeywords` | Estimated monthly visits and keywords from Google Ads |

Rank and backlinks come from the DataForSEO backlink index and are worldwide. Traffic is estimated from the domain's Google rankings in the country you choose, so it covers search traffic only, not direct or social visits.

### How much does it cost?

You pay per domain that returns data, plus a fee per lookup:

- **$0.003 per domain with data** ($3 per 1,000 domains)
- **$0.12 per lookup**, and one lookup covers up to 1,000 domains

A run of 1,000 domains costs at most $3.12. Domains without data, duplicates and entries that are not domains cost nothing.

Apify free plan users can look up 10 domains per run. Any paid Apify plan removes the limit.

### How to use it

1. Paste your domains into **Domains**, one per line. Full URLs work: `https://www.example.com/page` is looked up as `example.com`.
2. Set **Traffic location**, for example `United States`, and **Traffic language**, for example `English`.
3. Click **Start** and download the results from the **Output** tab.

Input as JSON, for the API or a schedule:

```json
{
    "domains": ["apify.com", "dataforseo.com", "wikipedia.org"],
    "locationName": "United States",
    "languageName": "English"
}
```

### Output example

A real result from October 2026:

```json
{
    "input": "https://www.apify.com/store",
    "domain": "apify.com",
    "found": true,
    "rank": 76,
    "backlinks": 1903390,
    "referringDomains": 14259,
    "referringMainDomains": 11683,
    "nofollowReferringDomains": 5423,
    "organicTraffic": 206492,
    "organicKeywords": 37488,
    "paidTraffic": 0,
    "paidKeywords": 0,
    "location": "United States",
    "language": "English",
    "error": null
}
```

A domain without data has `"found": false`, zero metrics and a note in `error`. It is not charged.

### Which domains work?

Any registered domain or subdomain: `example.com`, `blog.example.com`, `example.co.uk`, and international names such as `münchen.de`. The `www.` prefix is removed, because it is the same site. Subdomains other than `www` are looked up on their own. IP addresses and entries without a top-level domain are skipped with a note.

### FAQ

**Why is a domain not found?** The domain has no backlinks in the index and no Google rankings in the chosen country. New, parked and unused domains often look like this. You are not charged for them.

**Can I run it on a schedule or from my code?** Yes. Use Apify schedules, the Apify API, or integrations such as Make, Zapier and Google Drive.

**How do I limit what a run costs?** Set **Maximum cost per run** in the run options. The run stops at that amount and keeps the results it has.

**Something is wrong with the data.** Open an issue on the Issues tab with the domain, the location and the run link.

# Actor input Schema

## `domains` (type: `array`):

Domains or URLs, one per line. URLs are reduced to their domain and "www." is removed, so https://www.example.com/page becomes example.com. Duplicates are removed. Apify free plan runs look up the first 10 domains; any paid Apify plan removes the limit.

## `locationName` (type: `string`):

Country for the Google traffic estimate, spelled as in the DataForSEO list, for example "United States", "United Kingdom" or "Germany". Rank and backlinks are worldwide and do not depend on it.

## `languageName` (type: `string`):

Language of the searches for the traffic estimate, for example "English", "German" or "Spanish".
