## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Play Apps Scraper

**Get Google Play app data by keyword search, top charts or package name** — with each app's **search rank**, installs, rating, price, in-app purchases, ads, last update and **developer email**. JSON, CSV or Excel. No login, no API key.

Built for **ASO / keyword research, market sizing, competitor tracking and lead generation**. Pay only for the apps you get — **$0.50 per 1,000 apps**.

### How to use it (1 minute)

1. Add **Search terms** (e.g. `habit tracker`), and/or **Apps** (package names or Play links), and/or **Top charts**.
2. Pick a **Country** and **Language**.
3. Set **Max apps per search or chart** (up to 250).
4. Click **Start**, then download CSV, Excel or JSON — or use the API.

### Output example

One row per app:

```json
{
  "source": "search",
  "query": "habit tracker",
  "rank": 1,
  "appId": "org.isoron.uhabits",
  "title": "Loop Habit Tracker",
  "category": "Productivity",
  "score": 4.72,
  "ratings": 63390,
  "reviews": 3421,
  "installs": "5,000,000+",
  "minInstalls": 5000000,
  "free": true,
  "price": 0,
  "currency": "USD",
  "offersIAP": false,
  "containsAds": false,
  "contentRating": "Everyone",
  "released": "Feb 22, 2016",
  "version": "2.3.1",
  "url": "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.isoron.uhabits",
  "country": "us"
}
```

### What people use it for

- **ASO tool** — see exactly which apps rank #1–50 for your keywords, and how many installs and ratings they have.
- **App keyword ranking** — track where your app sits for each keyword over time, by country.
- **App market research** — scan a whole niche: who's in it, how big they are, how they monetize (paid, in-app purchases, ads).
- **Lead generation** — developer emails and websites for every app in a category or search.
- **Chart tracking** — schedule *top free*, *top paid* or *grossing* per category and country, and watch who climbs.
- **Competitor monitoring** — track a fixed list of apps for rating, version and price changes.

### Top charts

Add charts as JSON:

```json
[
  { "collection": "top_free", "category": "PRODUCTIVITY" },
  { "collection": "grossing", "category": "GAME_PUZZLE" },
  { "collection": "top_paid" }
]
```

`collection`: `top_free`, `top_paid` or `grossing`. `category` is optional — e.g. `PRODUCTIVITY`, `FINANCE`, `HEALTH_AND_FITNESS`, `EDUCATION`, `TOOLS`, `GAME_PUZZLE` (full list in the input field's help text).

### Pricing

You pay **$0.50 per 1,000 apps** returned, plus $0.00005 per run.

| You collect | Approximate cost |
|---|---|
| Top 50 apps for one keyword | $0.025 |
| Top 100 for 20 keywords (2,000 apps) | $1.00 |
| Weekly top-free chart for 10 categories (500 apps) | ~$1 per month |

Apps that can't be found are skipped and **never charged** — they're listed in the run's `RUN_SUMMARY`. Duplicates within one search or chart are removed automatically.

### Input example

```json
{
  "searchTerms": ["habit tracker", "budget planner"],
  "apps": ["com.whatsapp"],
  "topCharts": [{ "collection": "top_free", "category": "PRODUCTIVITY" }],
  "maxResultsPerSource": 50,
  "country": "us",
  "language": "en"
}
```

### FAQ

**What does `rank` mean?** The app's position in Google Play results for that search term or chart, in that country — useful for tracking keyword rankings over time.

**Why do results differ by country?** Google Play ranks and lists apps differently per country. Run the same keywords for `us`, `gb`, `in`, `de`, `sa`… to compare markets.

**Is the developer email always present?** Only if the developer published one on Google Play (most do).

**Can I automate it?** Yes — schedule runs in Apify, or call the API from your code, Zapier, Make or Google Sheets.

**Is it legal?** It collects only publicly visible store data. You're responsible for using it in line with applicable law and Google Play's terms.

**Need a field or a fix?** Open an issue on this page — I usually reply within a day.
