## Canadian Trade Leads with Emails

Canadian trade and home-service businesses, by city and by trade, each with the contact email the business publishes on its own website. Garage doors in Calgary, landscaping in Edmonton, plumbers in Mississauga, roofers in Halifax. You are charged only for a lead that actually carries an address.

Most directory scrapers hand you a name, a phone number and a link. Most email finders want you to already have the domains. This one does both halves: it finds the businesses in the directory for the city and trade you name, then opens each business's own website and reads the address published there.

- **Proxy** (optional): only needed if a run comes back empty, which means the directory refused the address the run came from.

### What the email filter throws away, and why it matters

A lead list is worthless the moment it hands you a supplier's address instead of the business's. Every address is ranked and only one survives per business:

1. an address on the business's own domain;
2. a consumer mailbox (Gmail, Telus, Shaw) only when its name is the business's name;
3. a front-desk mailbox on another domain the business publishes.

Thrown out on sight: site-builder support desks, theme and font vendors whose address sits in the page source, hosting placeholders, chat-widget relay ids, template addresses the owner never edited (example@mysite.com and friends), no-reply mailboxes, a stranger's personal Gmail, an address the site deliberately masks, image filenames that look like addresses, the support desk of a listing platform a business uses as its website, a web designer's or call centre's address on a third domain that carries nothing of the business's name, and manufacturers and wholesalers who sell to these contractors rather than buy from you. Within a business the front desk beats a named employee. Those rules were not guessed: they come from a list built by hand, address by address, and from six real misses caught by running this Actor and reading every row it returned.

The last fifty rows it produced, over two cities and two trades, carried fifty usable business addresses and nothing else.

### Pricing, and the numbers behind it

- **$0.02 per lead with an email** ($20 per 1,000). Charged only when the row carries an address.
- **$0.004 per listing without one** ($4 per 1,000), and only if you turn off "only businesses with a published email".

Priced against the field on this Store, read 2026-09-17: a directory scrape that returns no emails sells for $3 to $5 per 1,000 (Yellow Pages US Scraper $0.003, 5,024 users; the Canadian listing scrapers $0.00499 and $0.005). An Actor that only reads emails off domains you already have sells for $0.02 per result (Website Email & Phone Finder, 2,303 users). Contractor leads with verified emails sell for $0.05. This Actor does the finding and the reading, and charges nothing for a business whose address it could not find, which is why it sits at the email finder's price rather than above it.

### Your spending ceiling is honoured

Set a maximum charge per run when you start it. Every row is pushed to your dataset first and charged second, and the moment the run's limit is reached the Actor stops walking the directory and exits. You are never billed for a row you cannot read, and a capped run never costs more than the number you set.

### Where the data comes from, and the line this does not cross

Business listings come from a public Canadian business directory; emails come from the business's own website, from the page where they publish it. robots.txt is fetched and obeyed for every host before anything is read, requests are delayed and backed off, and no business's site is read more than twice.

Only addresses a business publishes conspicuously, for the purpose of being contacted about its business, are returned. That is the implied-consent basis in Canada's anti-spam law, section 10(9)(b), and it is the whole reason this Actor exists in this shape. No personal email addresses, no guessed or pattern-built addresses, no first.last@company inference, no people. If you send to these addresses, the rest of CASL is yours to keep: identify yourself, say where you are, and honour an unsubscribe within ten days.
