## Pricing

from $0.90 / 1,000 film-days

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## China Box Office: Daily Movie Box Office by Film (Maoyan)

Get **daily box office for every film in Chinese cinemas**, the world's second-largest film market, from **Maoyan (猫眼专业版)**, the industry's reference box office platform. No login, no browser.

For each day you get every film showing, ranked by box office, with:

- **Box office that day** in CNY (gross and net of service fees) and **share of the market**
- **Screenings** and screening share, **seat occupancy**, average viewers per screening
- **Running total** since release
- Optional **daily market total**: box office, screenings and admissions for the whole country

History goes back about **one year**, and presale days up to about two months ahead are available too.

### Use cases

- **Studios and distributors**: track how your film and competitors perform in China, day by day.
- **Investors and analysts**: monitor the Chinese cinema market and holiday seasons (Spring Festival, National Day, summer).
- **Media and research**: build time series of Chinese box office for reports and models.

### Example input

```json
{
  "dateFrom": "2026-10-01",
  "dateTo": "2026-10-07",
  "maxFilmsPerDay": 20
}
```

Or just `{ "dates": ["today"] }` for today, and add an Apify **Schedule** to collect it every day.

### Output

A film record:

```json
{
  "type": "film",
  "date": "2026-10-06",
  "rank": 1,
  "movieId": "1586199",
  "title": "生化危机：爆发夜",
  "releaseInfo": "上映2天",
  "boxOfficeYuan": 54522981,
  "boxOfficeNetYuan": 48517182,
  "boxOfficeSharePct": 32.9,
  "screenings": 116364,
  "screeningSharePct": 25.1,
  "seatOccupancyPct": 7.4,
  "avgViewersPerScreening": 11.6,
  "totalBoxOfficeYuan": 135000000,
  "totalBoxOfficeText": "1.35亿",
  "url": "https://piaofang.maoyan.com/movie/1586199"
}
```

A daily total record (`type: "day"`) has `boxOfficeYuan`, `boxOfficeNetYuan`, `screenings`, `admissions`, `filmsShowing` and `isPresale`.

- Film titles are kept in Chinese as Maoyan publishes them.
- Today's figures are live and keep updating until the end of the day (China time); past days are final.
- `totalBoxOfficeYuan` is rounded the way Maoyan shows it (for example 1.35亿 = 135,000,000).

### Pricing

**$0.001 per film record and $0.001 per daily total.** A typical day with the top 30 films and the daily total costs about $0.03; a full week about $0.22.

### Notes and limits

- Dates outside Maoyan's range (about one year back to two months ahead) are skipped with a note in the log.
- Only public data is collected. If Maoyan ever blocks requests (HTTP 403), enable Apify Proxy in the Advanced section.

# Actor input Schema

## `dates` (type: `array`):

Days to fetch, like 2026-10-05, or "today" (China time). Maoyan keeps about one year of history and shows presales up to two months ahead. Ignored if you set a date range below.

## `dateFrom` (type: `string`):

First day of a range, like 2026-10-01. Use with "Date range: to" to get every day in between (up to 366 days).

## `dateTo` (type: `string`):

Last day of the range, like 2026-10-07, or "today". Defaults to today.

## `maxFilmsPerDay` (type: `integer`):

How many films to save for each day, highest box office first. A normal day has 70-130 films in cinemas.

## `includeDailyTotal` (type: `boolean`):

Also save one record per day with the whole market's box office, screenings and admissions.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Usually not needed. If you see HTTP 403 errors, enable Apify Proxy.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "dates": [
    "today"
  ],
  "maxFilmsPerDay": 30,
  "includeDailyTotal": true,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": false
  }
}
```
