## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## YouTube & Podcast Transcripts with AI Summary

Get the full transcript of any YouTube video, Apple Podcasts episode or Spotify episode, with timestamps, plus an AI summary, key points and chapters. When a video has no captions, the audio is transcribed instead, so you still get a transcript.

Built on [Blumify](https://blumify.io/?utm_source=apify\&utm_medium=actor), a transcript service for videos and podcasts.

### What you get for each link

- **Transcript** as plain text, and as timestamped segments (start, end, text).
- **AI summary** of the whole recording.
- **Key points**, as a list.
- **Chapters** with start times, so you can jump to each part.
- **Subtitles** as SRT or WebVTT (optional).
- **Details:** title, creator, platform, length, language, and whether the text came from captions or from audio.

### Which links work

| Link | Example |
| --- | --- |
| YouTube video | `https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji5_MqicxSo` or `https://youtu.be/ji5_MqicxSo` |
| Apple Podcasts episode | `https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/…?i=1000…` |
| Spotify episode | `https://open.spotify.com/episode/…` |

Whole channels and playlists are not supported here. Add the video links you want.

### Input

```json
{
  "urls": [
    "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji5_MqicxSo"
  ],
  "includeSegments": true,
  "subtitles": "none"
}
```

### Output

One dataset item for each link:

```json
{
  "url": "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji5_MqicxSo",
  "status": "ok",
  "title": "Randy Pausch's Last Lecture: Achieving Your Childhood Dreams",
  "creator": "Carnegie Mellon University",
  "platform": "youtube",
  "durationSeconds": 4608.3,
  "language": "en",
  "source": "captions",
  "summary": "Randy Pausch, a Carnegie Mellon professor with terminal pancreatic cancer, delivers his famous \"Last Lecture\" about achieving his childhood dreams…",
  "keyPoints": [
    "He argues that brick walls exist to stop the people who don't want something badly enough, and they give us a chance to show our dedication.",
    "…"
  ],
  "chapters": [
    { "start": 0, "title": "Introduction and the elephant in the room" },
    { "start": 180, "title": "Childhood dreams list" },
    "…"
  ],
  "text": ">> Make me earn it.\nIt's wonderful to be here.\n…",
  "segments": [{ "start": 17.36, "end": 20.08, "text": ">> Make me earn it." }, "…"],
  "wordCount": 12630
}
```

A link that cannot be transcribed gives `"status": "failed"` with an `error` message, and **you are not charged for it**.

### Pricing

You pay only for transcripts that succeed:

| What | Price |
| --- | --- |
| A video with captions (transcript, summary, key points, chapters) | US$0.02 per video |
| Podcast audio (Apple Podcasts, Spotify) | US$0.002 per minute |
| Other audio (a YouTube video without captions) | US$0.007 per minute |

For example, 100 YouTube videos with captions cost US$2.00. A 60-minute podcast episode costs US$0.12.

Set a maximum cost for the run in Apify, and the actor stops when it reaches it.

### Good to know

- **Speed:** a video with captions usually takes under a minute. Audio takes about a minute for every 15 minutes of recording.
- **Length:** audio of up to 4 hours a link.
- **Languages:** captions come in the video's own language. Audio is transcribed in its spoken language.
- **Privacy:** results are not published. Blumify keeps them in a private workspace for its records.

On [blumify.io](https://blumify.io/?utm_source=apify\&utm_medium=actor) you can also ask questions about a recording (answers cite the moment), translate the notes, add speaker labels, transcribe whole playlists, and follow creators to get their new episodes. There is also an [API and an MCP server for AI apps](https://blumify.io/developers?utm_source=apify\&utm_medium=actor).
