## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Companies Using Any Technology - Tech Stack from Job Posts

Find the companies that use a technology, from what they write in their
own job postings. Search for Snowflake, Kubernetes, dbt, Salesforce, Rust,
LangChain or any of 216 technologies, and get one row per company with its
domain, the postings that prove it, and its full tech stack.

Website detectors see a company's frontend. Job postings show what runs
behind it: the data warehouse, the infrastructure, the sales tools. Every
answer here comes from a posting you can open and read.

### Quick start

```json
{
  "technologies": ["Snowflake", "dbt"],
  "match": "all",
  "maxResults": 100
}
```

- `technologies`: names as people write them; `k8s`, `Postgres` and `GCP` work too.
- `categories`: a whole category instead, e.g. `data-warehouse`, `observability`,
  `crm-sales`, `llm`, `iac`.
- `match`: `any` (default) returns companies using at least one; `all` returns
  companies using every one.
- `maxResults`: the most companies returned and charged. The strongest matches
  come first.

### Get only new adopters

Turn on `onlyNew` and schedule the Actor weekly. It remembers which companies
it already gave you (per `stateName`) and skips them. Skipped companies are not
charged, so each run costs only the new companies.

### Output

One item per company. A real one from the test index (September 2026), searching for
`Snowflake` with `includeStack` on. `stack` is cut to its first six of 25
entries here.

```json
{
  "company": "Granica",
  "domain": "granica.ai",
  "domainConfidence": "high",
  "jobBoardUrl": "https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/granica",
  "ats": "ashby",
  "matchedTechnologies": [
    {"name": "Snowflake", "category": "data-warehouse", "postings": 5, "share": 0.455,
     "evidence": ["https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/granica/bc159dc0-98eb-4e63-a750-52ba975186ec",
                  "https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/granica/165a62b6-014d-4d83-a800-a0ff3b205745",
                  "https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/granica/dd24067b-7bb0-43f8-bb8f-ad679095078f"]}
  ],
  "openPostings": 11,
  "engineeringPostings": 8,
  "indexedAt": "2026-09-28T10:49:11+00:00",
  "stack": [
    {"name": "Apache Spark", "category": "data-processing", "postings": 5},
    {"name": "Databricks", "category": "data-warehouse", "postings": 5},
    {"name": "Python", "category": "language", "postings": 5},
    {"name": "Snowflake", "category": "data-warehouse", "postings": 5},
    {"name": "Delta Lake", "category": "data-processing", "postings": 4},
    {"name": "Java", "category": "language", "postings": 4}
  ]
}
```

- `domain` is the company's own website. `domainConfidence` is `high` when
  the company set it on its job board or linked it in its postings, and
  `medium` when it is a verified guess (about 95% right in our checks). It is
  `null` when no domain was found.
- `evidence` links up to three postings that mention the technology.
- `share` is the fraction of the postings read (up to 50 per company) that
  mention it.

### How it works

Talaria keeps an index of about 10,000 companies with open job boards on
Greenhouse, Ashby, Workday and Lever, rebuilt weekly from their public
posting APIs. A technology counts for a company when at least 2 of its
postings, or 10% of them, mention it, or its standard "about us" text does.
`minPostings` and `minShare` under Advanced change those thresholds.

The matching is a curated dictionary, not guesswork. Words that are also
technology names ("Go to market", "Snowflake schema", "Spring semester") are
handled. Mentions of customers and investors ("brands like HubSpot use us")
are dropped. In a hand check of 20 companies, 85 of 86 reported technologies
were right.

### Pricing

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Company found | $0.003 per company ($3 per 1,000) |
| Actor start | $0.00005 per run |

You pay only for companies returned. A search with no matches, and companies
skipped by `onlyNew`, cost nothing, and `maxResults` caps the bill: 100
companies cost at most $0.30. To try it, set `maxResults` to 10.

### Limits

- Companies without a public job board on these four ATSs are not in the index,
  and neither are technologies their postings never mention.
- Lever boards are underrepresented.
- `indexedAt` shows when a company's postings were last read. The index is
  rebuilt weekly.

### Data and privacy

The index holds company names, technology names, counts and public posting
URLs. It holds no personal data: no recruiter names, emails or phone numbers.
Postings are read from the ATSs' public APIs with a self-identifying client
that respects robots.txt.

# Actor input Schema

## `technologies` (type: `array`):

Technologies to look for, e.g. Snowflake, Kubernetes, dbt, Salesforce, Rust. Common spellings work too (k8s, Postgres, GCP).

## `categories` (type: `array`):

Or whole categories: any technology in the category counts. Examples: data-warehouse, observability, crm-sales, llm, iac.

## `match` (type: `string`):

"any": the company uses at least one of your technologies or categories. "all": it uses every one.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Hard cap on companies returned (and charged) per run. Strongest matches come first.

## `includeStack` (type: `boolean`):

Add every technology the company's postings show, not just the ones you searched for.

## `onlyNew` (type: `boolean`):

Remember which companies this search delivered and skip them next time, uncharged. Use with a schedule to get only new adopters.

## `stateName` (type: `string`):

Keeps separate memories for separate searches. 1-50 letters, digits, underscores or hyphens. Only used with onlyNew.

## `minPostings` (type: `integer`):

A technology counts for a company when at least this many of its postings mention it (or the share below is reached).

## `minShare` (type: `number`):

Or when at least this share of the postings read mention it (0.1 = 10%). Lower both to reach weaker signals.
