# World Time & Timezone Converter (400+ Zones, No API) (`smilemask/world-time-timezone-converter`) Actor

Get the current time in any of 400+ IANA time zones, or convert a specific date and time from one zone to many others, with UTC offset and zone abbreviation. Uses the time-zone database built into Node.js (ICU) - no external API calls, so it always works even when other online tools are down.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## World Time & Timezone Converter (400+ Zones, No API)

Get the current time in any of 400+ IANA time zones, or convert a specific date and time from one zone to many others, with UTC offset and zone abbreviation. Uses the time-zone database built into Node.js (ICU) - no external API calls, so it always works even when other online tools are down.

### What does World Time & Timezone Converter (400+ Zones, No API) do?

Current time in 400+ IANA time zones, or convert a date-time between zones - local only, no external API.

### What can you use it for?

- Show the current time for team members or customers across several countries.
- Convert a meeting time from your zone to everyone else's before sending an invite.
- Feed correct local timestamps into scheduling, logging or reporting tools.
- List every supported time zone to build a picker in your own app.

### Why use this Actor?

- **Fast and cheap:** lightweight HTTP-based Actor with no browser, so runs finish in seconds and cost very little.
- **No API keys or accounts needed** for the data source (see notes below).
- **Clean, structured JSON** that you can export as CSV, Excel, JSON or XML, or pull through the Apify API and integrations.
- **Scheduling, webhooks and integrations:** run it daily and send results to Google Sheets, Slack, Zapier, Make, n8n or your own API.

### Input

Configure the run in the **Input** tab (all fields have sensible defaults).

| Field | Type | Required | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| `mode` | string (now / convert) | no | `"now"` | 'now' shows the current time in each zone. 'convert' translates a specific date-time from sourceZone into each zone. |
| `zones` | array of strings | no | - | IANA time zone names, e.g. Asia/Seoul, America/New_York, Europe/London, UTC. Ignored if "List all zones" is on. |
| `listAllZones` | boolean | no | `false` | Ignore "Zones" and return the current time for every supported IANA zone (~400 rows). Only applies to 'now' mode. |
| `sourceZone` | string | no | `"UTC"` | The IANA zone that "Date-time to convert" is written in. |
| `dateTime` | string | no | - | Wall-clock time in sourceZone, e.g. "2026-12-25 09:00" or "2026-12-25T09:00:00". |

#### Example input

```json
{
  "zones": [
    "Asia/Seoul",
    "America/New_York",
    "Europe/London",
    "UTC",
    "Australia/Sydney"
  ],
  "sourceZone": "UTC"
}
```

### Output

Results are stored in the default dataset. Download them from the **Output** tab or via the API.

#### Example result

```json
{
  "zone": "Asia/Seoul",
  "localTime": "2026-09-23T11:25:48+09:00",
  "utcOffset": "+09:00",
  "abbreviation": "GMT+9",
  "weekday": "Wednesday",
  "mode": "now"
}
```

#### Output fields

| Field | Type | Example |
|---|---|---|
| `zone` | string | "Asia/Seoul" |
| `localTime` | string | "2026-09-23T11:25:48+09:00" |
| `utcOffset` | string | "+09:00" |
| `abbreviation` | string | "GMT+9" |
| `weekday` | string | "Wednesday" |
| `mode` | string | "now" |

### How much does it cost?

The Actor is billed by Apify according to the pricing shown on the **Pricing** tab of this page. Runs are small and fast, and the Apify Free plan includes monthly platform credits so you can try it at no cost. You can set a maximum cost per run, and the Actor stops cleanly when that limit is reached.

### Notes and limitations

- Uses the IANA time zone database bundled with Node.js (ICU) - no external API call, so it always works even when online converters are down.
- "abbreviation" comes straight from ICU and already reflects daylight-saving time (e.g. EST vs EDT), so there is no separate guessed DST flag. For some zones ICU has no short English abbreviation and returns a "GMT+9"-style fallback instead of letters - this is expected, not an error.
- For "convert" mode, `dateTime` is read as the wall-clock time in `sourceZone` (e.g. "2026-12-25 09:00"), not UTC.

### Tips

- Start with a small test run, then scale up the input.
- Use **Schedules** to automate recurring runs and **Webhooks** or **Integrations** to deliver the data where you need it.
- Call the Actor from your code with the Apify API or the official JavaScript and Python clients.

### FAQ

**What format should dateTime be in?**

"YYYY-MM-DD HH:mm" or full ISO like "2026-12-25T09:00:00". Seconds are optional.

**How do I get every time zone?**

Turn on "List all zones" - it ignores the Zones field and returns current time for all ~400 supported IANA zones.
