## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## SEEK, JobStreet & JobsDB Scraper – Jobs, Salaries & Companies

Scrape **job listings from the whole SEEK network in one run**: **SEEK** (Australia, New Zealand), **JobStreet** (Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia) and **JobsDB** (Hong Kong, Thailand). No login, no API key, **no start fee**.

Every job comes with **title, company, location, classification, work type, remote/hybrid flag, listing date** and a **normalised salary**: SEEK's free-text labels ("RM 5,000 – RM 7,500 per month", "$110k - $120k pa + super", "Rp 5.000.000 – Rp 7.000.000") become clean **min / max / currency / period** numbers, plus an **annualised** range you can compare across countries. Turn on **full descriptions** to also get the job ad as **clean Markdown** (ready for LLMs and RAG), expiry date, company industry and size.

Run it daily with **"Only new jobs"** on and you get a feed of fresh postings. You only pay for jobs you haven't seen before.

### What you can use it for

- **Salary benchmarking**: compare pay for the same role across Sydney, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Manila, Jakarta, Hong Kong and Bangkok.
- **Recruitment & lead generation**: find companies that are hiring now, with company profile links, industry and size.
- **Job alerts & monitoring**: schedule daily runs with "Only new jobs" and send new postings to Slack, Sheets or your ATS.
- **Labour-market research**: track demand by classification, work type and remote share over time.
- **Job boards & aggregators**: feed SEA and ANZ listings into your own site.
- **AI agents & RAG**: give an LLM fresh, structured job ads in Markdown for job matching, CV tailoring or market summaries.

### How to scrape SEEK, JobStreet and JobsDB jobs

1. **Create a free Apify account** (no credit card needed to start) and open this Actor.
2. **Add keywords.** Type one or more job titles or skills in **Search keywords**, for example *data analyst*.
3. **Choose countries.** Pick one or several in **Countries** (Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Thailand). Add a *Location* to focus on a city.
4. **Filter.** Set *Posted within*, *Work type*, *Remote / hybrid* and *Max jobs per search*. Turn on *Include full job description* to get the whole ad.
5. **Click Start.** Results appear in the **Output** tab while it runs.
6. **Download or connect.** Export as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or read the dataset through the API, Make, Zapier, n8n, Google Sheets or a webhook.
7. **Automate it.** Open **Schedules**, add a daily schedule and switch on **Only new jobs** so every run returns just the jobs posted since the last one.

**Tips**

- Each country is a separate SEEK market, so a run over several countries returns one set per keyword and country.
- One search stops at about 550 results. Split with filters (location, work type, date) to go beyond.
- Use the salary fields to compare pay across countries; the annualised salary makes monthly and hourly ads comparable.

```
`salaryPeriod` is one of `hour`, `day`, `week`, `fortnight`, `month`, `year`. Annualised values use 2,080 hours / 260 days / 52 weeks / 26 fortnights / 12 months per year. Jobs that don't show a salary (about half on SEEK) have `null` salary fields.
### Input
```json
{
  "keywords": ["data analyst", "nurse"],
  "markets": ["AU", "MY", "SG"],
  "location": "",
  "maxJobsPerSearch": 100,
  "dateRange": "7",
  "workTypes": ["full-time"],
  "workArrangements": ["remote", "hybrid"],
  "sortBy": "date",
  "includeDetails": true,
  "onlyNewJobs": false
}
```
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `keywords` | One search per keyword per country. Empty = all jobs |
| `markets` | Any of `AU NZ MY SG PH ID HK TH` |
| `location` | City / state / suburb, e.g. `Melbourne`, `Penang`, `Cebu` |
| `maxJobsPerSearch` | Cap per keyword per country (0 = all SEEK returns, ~550) |
| `dateRange` | Posted in the last 1 / 3 / 7 / 14 / 30 days |
| `workTypes` | Full time, part time, contract, casual |
| `workArrangements` | On-site, hybrid, remote |
| `sortBy` | `relevance` or `date` (newest first) |
| `includeDetails` | Full description (Markdown + HTML), expiry, phone, company industry & size |
| `onlyNewJobs` | Skip jobs this search returned in earlier runs |
### Pricing
Pay per result, **no start fee, no monthly rental**:
| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Job listing | **$0.80 per 1,000 jobs** |
| Full description add-on (only when `includeDetails` is on) | **$0.40 per 1,000 jobs** |
Example: 1,000 jobs with full descriptions cost **$1.20**. Set **"Maximum cost per run"** in the run options to stay within budget. The Actor stops cleanly at your limit and never charges for jobs it doesn't deliver.
### Use with AI (LangChain / LlamaIndex / CrewAI)
Each job's `markdown` field is the full ad with HTML stripped and headings/lists kept, so it drops straight into an LLM pipeline. With LangChain (`pip install langchain-apify`):
```python
from langchain_apify import ApifyWrapper
from langchain_core.documents import Document

apify = ApifyWrapper()  # reads APIFY_API_TOKEN
loader = apify.call_actor(
    actor_id="smoldesk/seek-jobs-scraper",
    run_input={"keywords": ["data analyst"], "markets": ["MY", "SG"], "includeDetails": True, "maxJobsPerSearch": 50},
    dataset_mapping_function=lambda job: Document(
        page_content=job.get("markdown") or job.get("teaser") or "",
        metadata={k: job.get(k) for k in ("url", "title", "company", "market", "location",
                                          "salaryMin", "salaryMax", "salaryCurrency", "salaryPeriod")},
    ),
)
docs = loader.load()
```
Already have a run? Load its dataset with `ApifyDatasetLoader(dataset_id="<run's dataset ID>", dataset_mapping_function=...)` from the same package. **LlamaIndex**: `ApifyActor` from `llama-index-readers-apify` with the same `actor_id` and mapping. **CrewAI / MCP clients**: add the Actor as a tool through the Apify MCP server: `https://mcp.apify.com?actors=smoldesk/seek-jobs-scraper`.
### Tips
- SEEK shows at most about **550 jobs per search**. For more, split by `location`, `dateRange` or `workTypes`, or add more specific keywords.
- Full descriptions on JobStreet are fetched politely (the site rate-limits bursts), so detail runs take about 1–2 minutes per 500 jobs.
- The same job showing up for two of your keywords is returned (and charged) **once** per run.
- **Monitoring**: turn on `onlyNewJobs`, sort by `date`, set `dateRange` to `1` or `3` and schedule the Actor daily.
### FAQ
**Does SEEK or JobStreet have a public API?** Not for job search data. SEEK's official APIs are for advertisers and ATS partners only. This Actor gives you the same listings as a ready-made API: call it from Python, JavaScript, Make, Zapier, n8n or plain HTTP and get JSON, CSV or Excel back.
**How do I get JobStreet salary data?** Every job with a visible salary comes back with `salaryMin`, `salaryMax`, `salaryCurrency`, `salaryPeriod` and annualised values, so you can average pay for a role straight from the dataset. Filter out `null` salaries (jobs that hide pay).
**Can I scrape JobStreet Malaysia only (or one city)?** Yes. Set `markets` to `["MY"]` and `location` to e.g. `Kuala Lumpur` or `Penang`. The same works for any of the 8 countries.
**How do I get alerts for new jobs?** Turn on `onlyNewJobs`, sort by `date` and schedule the Actor daily. Connect the run to Slack, Google Sheets, email or a webhook with Apify integrations.
**Do I need a SEEK / JobStreet account?** No. The Actor reads the same public job search that any visitor sees.
**Do I need proxies?** No. It works without a proxy. The proxy option is there for very large runs.
**Is it legal?** The Actor only collects job ads that employers publish openly. Don't store personal data (like recruiter phone numbers) longer than you need, and follow privacy laws (GDPR, PDPA, Australian Privacy Act) in your use case.
# Actor input Schema
## `keywords` (type: `array`):
Job titles, skills or companies to search for, e.g. 'data analyst' or 'nurse'. Each keyword runs as a separate search in every selected market. Leave empty to list all jobs.
## `markets` (type: `array`):
Which SEEK network sites to search: SEEK (Australia, New Zealand), JobStreet (Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia) and JobsDB (Hong Kong, Thailand).
## `location` (type: `string`):
Optional city, state or suburb, e.g. 'Sydney', 'Kuala Lumpur', 'Bangkok'. Applied to every selected country, so use it with one country at a time.
## `maxJobsPerSearch` (type: `integer`):
Maximum jobs per keyword per country. 0 = as many as the site returns (SEEK shows up to about 550 jobs per search — narrow with location, date or work type to get more).
## `dateRange` (type: `string`):
Only jobs listed in the last N days.
## `workTypes` (type: `array`):
Only these work types. Empty = all.
## `workArrangements` (type: `array`):
Only on-site, hybrid or remote jobs. Empty = all.
## `sortBy` (type: `string`):
Relevance (SEEK's default) or newest first.
## `includeDetails` (type: `boolean`):
Also fetch the full job ad as clean Markdown (ready for LLM/RAG) and HTML, plus expiry date, phone number, company industry and size. Charged as an extra 'job details' event per job.
## `onlyNewJobs` (type: `boolean`):
Skip jobs this search already returned in earlier runs of this Actor on your account. Schedule the Actor daily to get a feed of new postings — you pay only for jobs you haven't seen.
## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):
How many searches run at the same time.
## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):
Usually not needed — SEEK's API works without a proxy.
