## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## SEC EDGAR Filings Watch

Monitor **new or updated SEC EDGAR filings** using official [data.sec.gov](https://www.sec.gov/edgar/sec-api-documentation) submissions JSON and the public **current filings** Atom feed. Each scheduled run returns filings that are **new or changed** since the previous run. State is stored in `sec-filings-watch-state`.

The SEC requires a **declared User-Agent** on every request (organization + contact). This Actor will not run without `userAgent` in the input.

### Input example

```json
{
  "userAgent": "Acme Corp compliance-bot (ops@acme.com)",
  "tickers": ["AAPL", "MSFT"],
  "formTypes": ["8-K", "10-Q"],
  "filedWithinDays": 14,
  "maxResults": 50,
  "emitAll": false
}
```

To watch **market-wide** filings for specific form types, leave `ciks` and `tickers` empty and set `formTypes` (the Actor reads the official current-filings feed per form).

### Output example

```json
{
  "accessionNumber": "0000320193-25-000077",
  "formType": "8-K",
  "filedDate": "2026-10-08",
  "companyName": "Apple Inc.",
  "cik": "0000320193",
  "title": "8-K - Apple Inc.",
  "filingUrl": "https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/...",
  "changeType": "new"
}
```

Company names are **registrant names from SEC public filings**. No personal contact details.

### Sample run vs. monitoring

| Mode | `emitAll` | What you get |
|------|-----------|--------------|
| **Sample / first look** | `true` | Up to `maxResults` matching filings. |
| **Scheduled monitoring** | `false` | Only filings **new** or **updated** since the last run. |

### Pricing

**$4.00 per 1,000 results** plus **$0.003 per Actor start** (Apify pay-per-event).

# Actor input Schema

## `userAgent` (type: `string`):

Required. SEC fair access policy: identify your organization and how to contact you (e.g. "Acme Corp data-bot (ops@acme.com)").

## `ciks` (type: `array`):

Central Index Keys (with or without leading zeros). Empty = use tickers or form-type current filings feed.

## `tickers` (type: `array`):

Resolve to CIK via the official SEC company_tickers.json file, then load each company's recent filings.

## `formTypes` (type: `array`):

Include these EDGAR form types (e.g. 8-K, 10-K, 10-Q, S-1, D). Empty defaults to 8-K.

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

Match if any keyword appears in company name, form title, or filing summary (case-insensitive).

## `filedWithinDays` (type: `integer`):

Only include filings with filing date within this many days (UTC).

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Stop after pushing this many filing records (0 = unlimited).

## `emitAll` (type: `boolean`):

If true, push every filing matching filters. If false, only new or updated since the last run.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "userAgent": "Soco Supply LLC sec-filings-watch (phenohunt1@gmail.com)",
  "formTypes": [
    "8-K"
  ],
  "keywords": [],
  "filedWithinDays": 30,
  "maxResults": 10,
  "emitAll": true
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

New or updated SEC filing records from this run (default dataset).
