## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## CV-Library UK Jobs Scraper

Build a UK role-and-location job watchlist. Get UK job ads from CV-Library, one row per job, with the salary split into numbers. Each run saves up to Maximum results across the selected inputs (20 by default).

### What does this Actor do?

- **You give:** CV-Library listing pages with the job and town in the address, in the form `<job>-jobs` or `<job>-jobs-in-<town>`, such as [developer-jobs](https://www.cv-library.co.uk/developer-jobs) or [developer-jobs-in-manchester](https://www.cv-library.co.uk/developer-jobs-in-manchester), or single job pages. Other filters in the address are removed, as the site's robots.txt asks.
- **You get:** job title, company (a direct employer or a recruitment agency), location, remote or not, the salary as shown plus lowest and highest amount, currency and period (hour, day, week, month, year), job type, employment type, industry, posting and closing dates, and the full description.
- **How full:** 34 of 41 ads (about 8 in 10) in the historical tests showed a salary; the rest have `null` salary fields.
- **How many:** 20 jobs per listing page; the Actor follows the pages and opens each job. A job on two of your pages is saved once.
- **Speed:** one job page at a time, about 3 seconds apart: 20 jobs took about 70 seconds in the historical local tests.
- **Price:** $2.25 per 1,000 jobs (20 jobs = $0.045). No start fee.
- **Not included:** candidate data. Job descriptions are the employer's text and can name a recruiter.

### Input

| Field | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Job listing pages | CV-Library listing pages or job pages | `https://www.cv-library.co.uk/developer-jobs` |
| Maximum results | Stop after this many jobs | 20 |
| Only new results | Skip results that an earlier run with the same input already saved; they are not saved or charged | Off |
| Proxy configuration | Optional; the Actor runs without one | No proxy |

Use listing pages whose filters are in the address path, such as `/developer-jobs` or `/developer-jobs-in-manchester`. Other query parameters are removed from the address, because the site's robots.txt asks crawlers not to use them.

Example:

```json
{
    "startUrls": [
        { "url": "https://www.cv-library.co.uk/developer-jobs-in-manchester" },
        { "url": "https://www.cv-library.co.uk/site-manager-jobs" }
    ],
    "maxItems": 100
}
```

### Output

One record per job. Download it as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML from the Output tab, or read it through the Apify API.

```json
{
    "jobId": "225609118",
    "url": "https://www.cv-library.co.uk/job/225609118/fidessa-developer",
    "title": "Fidessa Developer",
    "company": "Apex Systems Global",
    "location": "St Paul's, Greater London",
    "salaryMin": 70,
    "salaryMax": 75,
    "salaryCurrency": "GBP",
    "salaryPeriod": "hour",
    "jobType": "Contract",
    "postedAt": "2026-09-15T10:00:24Z",
    "scrapedAt": "2026-10-05T17:56:56.660Z"
}
```

A real record from a local test run on 2026-10-05, shortened to 12 of its 19 fields. Not shown: `remote`, `salaryText`, `employmentType`, `industry`, `validThrough`, `description`, `sourceUrl`.
Salary fields are `null` when the ad shows no salary.

The run also saves an `OUTCOME` record in its key-value store, and the same sentence as the run's status message: `COMPLETE` (your pages have no more results), `MAX_RESULTS` (stopped at Maximum results), `SPENDING_LIMIT`, `PARTIAL` (some pages failed to load), `PAGE_LIMIT`, `NO_NEW_RESULTS` (Only new results is on and nothing is new), `NO_MATCHING_RESULTS`, `NO_RESULTS` or `FAILED`. Only `FAILED` ends the run as failed.

### Pricing

You pay $2.25 per 1,000 jobs, only for jobs saved. No start fee. Platform costs (servers and Apify Proxy) are included in the price.
Example: the default maximum of 20 saved jobs costs $0.045 (20 × $0.00225). Fewer saved results cost proportionally less.

- A record found on two of your pages is saved and charged once per run.
- A run that cannot read anything stops with a reason and costs nothing.
- A record seen again in a later run is saved and charged again, unless "Only new results" is on.
- Set "Maximum results" or a spending limit to cap the cost.

### Notes

- This Actor is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the website it reads.
- It reads public job ads only and needs no login. It returns job and company data, not candidate data.
- Found a problem? Open an issue on the Issues tab and include the run link.

# Actor input Schema

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

CV-Library job listing pages, for example https://www.cv-library.co.uk/developer-jobs or https://www.cv-library.co.uk/nurse-jobs-in-manchester, or single job pages. Use listing pages whose filters are in the path; other search parameters are not read, as the site's robots.txt asks.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Stop after saving this many jobs. You pay per result, so this also caps the cost.

## `onlyNew` (type: `boolean`):

Skip results that an earlier run with the same start URLs and filters already saved. Skipped results are not saved and not charged. The list of saved IDs is kept in a key-value store named "cv-library-jobs-scraper-seen" in your Apify account; delete it to start over.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional. The Actor runs without a proxy.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "startUrls": [
    {
      "url": "https://www.cv-library.co.uk/developer-jobs"
    }
  ],
  "maxItems": 20,
  "onlyNew": false,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": false
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `jobs` (type: `string`):

Saved jobs in the default dataset.

## `runSummary` (type: `string`):

Run outcome record in the default key-value store.
