## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## TrustMRR Startup Revenue Scraper

Research startup categories or shortlist businesses offered for sale. Get startups from TrustMRR, one row per startup, with the revenue figures TrustMRR labels as verified. Each run saves up to Maximum results across the selected inputs (20 by default).

### What does this Actor do?

- **You give:** category pages ([trustmrr.com/category/ai](https://trustmrr.com/category/ai), about 30 startups each), the home page, the [startup sitemap](https://trustmrr.com/startup-sitemap.xml) (about 11,000 startups in the historical October 2026 snapshot; the run still stops at Maximum results), or single startup pages. Turn on "Only startups for sale" to keep only listings for sale.
- **You get:** name, website, description, category, tags, country, founded date, all-time and last-30-day revenue, MRR, customers, 30-day revenue and MRR growth, profit margin (shown for about half of startups in the historical tests), revenue rank and payment provider (for example Stripe). For startups for sale: asking price, revenue multiple, offers received and listing date. Money is in USD. Startups that hide their name show as "Stealth Company".
- **Speed:** the historical long-run estimate was about 30 startups a minute. Default runs stop at 20 saved startups; this is not a promise of complete sitemap coverage.
- **Price:** $3.15 per 1,000 startups (20 startups = $0.063). No start fee. A startup on two of your pages is saved once.
- **Not included:** founder names and social profiles.
- **Source of the numbers:** revenue figures are the ones TrustMRR shows; descriptions are written by founders.

### Input

| Field | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Start URLs | Category pages, home page, startup sitemap or startup pages | `https://trustmrr.com/category/ai` |
| Only startups for sale | Save only startups listed for sale; the others are not saved or charged | Off |
| Maximum results | Stop after this many startups | 20 |
| Only new results | Skip results that an earlier run with the same input already saved; they are not saved or charged | Off |
| Proxy configuration | Optional; the Actor runs without one | No proxy |

Example:

```json
{
    "startUrls": [
        { "url": "https://trustmrr.com/category/ai" },
        { "url": "https://trustmrr.com/category/saas" },
        { "url": "https://trustmrr.com/startup-sitemap.xml" }
    ],
    "maxItems": 500
}
```

### Output

One record per startup. Download it as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML from the Output tab, or read it through the Apify API.

```json
{
    "slug": "chatbase",
    "url": "https://trustmrr.com/startup/chatbase",
    "name": "Chatbase",
    "category": "Software",
    "country": "CA",
    "revenueLast30Days": 865869.17,
    "mrr": 863631.66,
    "customers": 12424,
    "paymentProvider": "Stripe",
    "forSale": false,
    "askingPrice": null,
    "scrapedAt": "2026-10-05T18:02:29.184Z"
}
```

A real record from a local test run on 2026-10-05, shortened to 12 of its 27 fields. Not shown: `stealth`, `description`, `keywords`, `foundedDate`, `website`, `revenueAllTime`, `revenueGrowth30d`, `mrrGrowth30d`, `profitMargin30d`, `revenueRank`, `currency`, `revenueMultiple`, `offersReceived`, `listedForSaleAt`, `sourceUrl`.
Money fields are in USD. Fields the site does not show for a startup are `null`.

The run also saves an `OUTCOME` record in its key-value store, and the same sentence as the run's status message: `COMPLETE` (your pages have no more results), `MAX_RESULTS` (stopped at Maximum results), `SPENDING_LIMIT`, `PARTIAL` (some pages failed to load), `PAGE_LIMIT`, `NO_NEW_RESULTS` (Only new results is on and nothing is new), `NO_MATCHING_RESULTS`, `NO_RESULTS` or `FAILED`. Only `FAILED` ends the run as failed.

### Pricing

You pay $3.15 per 1,000 startups, only for startups saved. No start fee. Platform costs (servers and Apify Proxy) are included in the price.
Example: the default maximum of 20 saved startups costs $0.063 (20 × $0.00315). Fewer saved results cost proportionally less.

- A record found on two of your pages is saved and charged once per run.
- A run that cannot read anything stops with a reason and costs nothing.
- A record seen again in a later run is saved and charged again, unless "Only new results" is on.
- Set "Maximum results" or a spending limit to cap the cost.

### Notes

- This Actor is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the website it reads.
- It reads public startup pages only and needs no login. It returns company-level data only; founder names and social profiles are not collected.
- Found a problem? Open an issue on the Issues tab and include the run link.

# Actor input Schema

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

TrustMRR category pages (https://trustmrr.com/category/ai, 30 startups each), the home page (recent listings), the startup sitemap (https://trustmrr.com/startup-sitemap.xml, every startup) or single startup pages.

## `forSaleOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Save only startups that are listed for sale. The others are read but not saved and not charged.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Stop after saving this many startups. You pay per result, so this also caps the cost.

## `onlyNew` (type: `boolean`):

Skip results that an earlier run with the same start URLs and filters already saved. Skipped results are not saved and not charged. The list of saved IDs is kept in a key-value store named "trustmrr-startups-scraper-seen" in your Apify account; delete it to start over.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional. The Actor runs without a proxy.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "startUrls": [
    {
      "url": "https://trustmrr.com/category/ai"
    }
  ],
  "forSaleOnly": false,
  "maxItems": 20,
  "onlyNew": false,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": false
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `startups` (type: `string`):

Saved startups in the default dataset.

## `runSummary` (type: `string`):

Run outcome record in the default key-value store.
