## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Yahoo Finance Quotes & Key Stats Scraper

Collect a dated quote snapshot for an asset watchlist. Get the current quote and key stats for stocks, ETFs, crypto and other assets from Yahoo Finance, one row per symbol. Each run saves up to Maximum results across the selected inputs (20 by default).

### What does this Actor do?

- **You give:** ticker symbols in "Ticker symbols" (AAPL, 7203.T, BTC-USD, EURUSD=X), quote pages ([AAPL](https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/AAPL/)), or market lists such as [most active](https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/most-active/), gainers, losers or crypto.
- **You get:** symbol, name, exchange, type, currency, market state, price, change, change % (in percent: 1.02 = 1.02%), previous close, open, day range, volume, average volume, market cap (in the quote's currency), 52-week range, trailing and forward P/E, EPS, dividend yield (a fraction: 0.0032 = 0.32%), beta, sector, industry, country, website, employees, analyst rating, mean price target, and the time of the price.
- **Prices:** as Yahoo shows them, which may be delayed. `marketTime` says when the price was set.
- **Speed:** in the historical local tests, 20 quotes took 4 seconds; the Actor reads up to 30 pages a minute.
- **Price:** $1.53 per 1,000 quotes (20 quotes = $0.0306). No start fee.
- **Not included:** price history, financial statements, options and news.

### Input

| Field | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Start URLs | Quote pages or market list pages | `https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/most-active/` |
| Ticker symbols | Ticker symbols such as AAPL, 7203.T or BTC-USD; each adds its quote page | None |
| Maximum results | Stop after this many quotes | 20 |
| Only new results | Skip results that an earlier run with the same input already saved; they are not saved or charged | Off |
| Proxy configuration | Optional; the Actor runs without one | No proxy |

Example:

```json
{
    "startUrls": [
        { "url": "https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/AAPL/" },
        { "url": "https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/7203.T/" },
        { "url": "https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/gainers/" }
    ],
    "maxItems": 50
}
```

### Output

One record per symbol. Download it as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML from the Output tab, or read it through the Apify API.

```json
{
    "symbol": "AAPL",
    "name": "Apple Inc.",
    "url": "https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/AAPL/",
    "exchange": "NasdaqGS",
    "currency": "USD",
    "price": 332.73,
    "change": -0.95999146,
    "changePercent": -0.2876896,
    "marketCap": 4855921901568,
    "trailingPE": 38.15023,
    "dividendYield": 0.0032,
    "marketTime": "2026-10-05T18:03:32.000Z",
    "scrapedAt": "2026-10-05T18:03:40.382Z"
}
```

A real record from a local test run on 2026-10-05, shortened to 13 of its 33 fields. Not shown: `quoteType`, `marketState`, `previousClose`, `open`, `dayLow`, `dayHigh`, `volume`, `averageVolume`, `fiftyTwoWeekLow`, `fiftyTwoWeekHigh`, `forwardPE`, `eps`, `beta`, `sector`, `industry`, `country`, `website`, `employees`, `analystRating`, `targetPrice`.
Fields that do not apply to an asset (for example P/E for crypto, or dividend yield for a company that pays none) are `null`. `dividendYield` is a fraction: 0.0032 means 0.32%.

The run also saves an `OUTCOME` record in its key-value store, and the same sentence as the run's status message: `COMPLETE` (your pages have no more results), `MAX_RESULTS` (stopped at Maximum results), `SPENDING_LIMIT`, `PARTIAL` (some pages failed to load), `PAGE_LIMIT`, `NO_NEW_RESULTS` (Only new results is on and nothing is new), `NO_MATCHING_RESULTS`, `NO_RESULTS` or `FAILED`. Only `FAILED` ends the run as failed.

### Pricing

You pay $1.53 per 1,000 quotes, only for quotes saved. No start fee. Platform costs (servers and Apify Proxy) are included in the price.
Example: the default maximum of 20 saved quotes costs $0.0306 (20 × $0.00153). Fewer saved results cost proportionally less.

- A record found on two of your pages is saved and charged once per run.
- A run that cannot read anything stops with a reason and costs nothing.
- A record seen again in a later run is saved and charged again, unless "Only new results" is on.
- Set "Maximum results" or a spending limit to cap the cost.

### Notes

- This Actor is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the website it reads.
- It reads public quote pages only and needs no login.
- It reads up to 30 pages a minute, to keep load on the site low.
- Found a problem? Open an issue on the Issues tab and include the run link.

# Actor input Schema

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Yahoo Finance quote pages (https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/AAPL/) or market list pages such as most active, gainers, losers or crypto (https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/most-active/). The scraper opens each symbol on a list and follows the list's pages.

## `symbols` (type: `array`):

Ticker symbols as Yahoo Finance writes them, such as AAPL, 7203.T or BTC-USD. Each one adds its quote page to the start URLs. In the Console, clear Start URLs if you want these symbols only.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Stop after saving this many quotes. You pay per result, so this also caps the cost.

## `onlyNew` (type: `boolean`):

Skip results that an earlier run with the same start URLs and filters already saved. Skipped results are not saved and not charged. The list of saved IDs is kept in a key-value store named "yahoo-finance-quote-scraper-seen" in your Apify account; delete it to start over.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional. The Actor runs without a proxy.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "startUrls": [
    {
      "url": "https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/most-active/"
    }
  ],
  "maxItems": 20,
  "onlyNew": false,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": false
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `quotes` (type: `string`):

Saved quotes in the default dataset.

## `runSummary` (type: `string`):

Run outcome record in the default key-value store.
