## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Shopify App Store Reviews & App Intelligence Scraper

**Extract every review of any Shopify app – star rating, full text, store name, store country, how long the merchant used the app, and the developer's reply – plus the app's listing data: rating, review count, 5→1 star breakdown, pricing plans, developer, launch date, languages, integrations, category tags and the "Built for Shopify" badge.**

Filter by star rating (e.g. only 1–2★ complaints), by date, or switch on **"only new reviews"** and schedule it daily to get alerts whenever a competitor (or your own app) gets a new review.

No login, no browser, no cookies – it reads the public apps.shopify.com pages (allowed by Shopify's robots.txt), so runs are fast and cheap.

### What can I use it for?

- **Shopify app developers** – monitor your own reviews and reply faster; benchmark your reply rate vs competitors.
- **Competitor research & product discovery** – mine 1–2★ reviews of the category leaders to find features merchants are begging for. Build the app they want.
- **Agencies & SaaS sales teams** – find merchants (store name + country) who are unhappy with a competing app.
- **Market analysts / investors** – track rating, review velocity and pricing plans of apps over time.
- **AI agents & LLM pipelines** – clean, structured review text for sentiment analysis, summarization and RAG.

}
```
> Prices are shown in the currency Shopify picks for the visitor's location (USD when run on Apify's US servers).
### Pricing (pay per result)
| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Review saved | **$1.00 per 1,000 reviews** |
| App details saved | **$2.00 per 1,000 apps** |
No start fee. Errors, not-found apps, skipped star-only reviews and (in monitoring mode) already-seen reviews are free.
Examples: all 181 reviews of a mid-size app ≈ $0.18 · daily monitoring of 20 competitor apps (~10 new reviews/day) ≈ $0.30/month.
### Tips
- **Complaint mining:** `ratings: ["1","2"]` + `skipRatingOnlyReviews: true`.
- **Fast incremental runs:** `sortBy: "newest"` + `reviewsSince` stops pagination as soon as older reviews appear.
- **Review alerts:** `onlyNewReviews: true` + an Apify Schedule + Slack/email integration.
- Shopify shows 10 reviews per page; the Actor paces requests politely and retries 403/429/5xx with backoff. Enable a proxy only for very large jobs.
### Is it legal?
The Actor collects publicly available listing and review content from apps.shopify.com paths that are not disallowed by robots.txt. It does not log in or collect personal data beyond the public store name and country shown on each review. Make sure your use complies with Shopify's terms and applicable law.
