## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Shopify App Store Intelligence: Apps, Pricing Plans & Category Rankings

Pull structured data from the public **Shopify App Store** (apps.shopify.com): ratings, review counts, **full pricing plans with USD prices**, developer, launch date, supported languages, integrations ("Works with"), categories, *Built for Shopify* status and **category rank position**.

You don't need a login, cookies or proxy. The Actor never collects reviewer names or any other personal data.

### Who is it for?

- **Shopify app developers & founders**: track competitors' ratings, review velocity and pricing changes, and find gaps in a category.
- **Agencies & SaaS marketers**: build lead lists of *app companies* (business name, website, partner page).
- **Investors & analysts**: map a category: who leads, how they price, and how new the challengers are.
- **AI agents / n8n / Make / Zapier**: clean JSON, one record per app.

### What data do you get?

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| name, url, handle | Brevo PushOwl: Email,Push,SMS |
| rating, reviewsCount | 4.8, 2307 |
| categoryRank (when scraped from a category) | 4 |
| pricingSummary, hasFreePlan, lowestPaidPlanUsd | "Free plan available", true, 19 |
| pricingPlans\[] (name, priceUsd, period, description, features) | Starter: $19/month … |
| developerName, developerUrl, developerWebsite | Brevo PushOwl |
| launchedDate | 2017-07-31 |
| languages\[], worksWith\[], categories\[] | English, …; Shopify Flow, … |
| isBuiltForShopify | true |
| scrapedAt | ISO timestamp |

### Input

You can combine any of these:

- **categoryUrls**: category pages, e.g. `https://apps.shopify.com/categories/marketing-and-conversion-marketing-email-marketing`. Apps come back in ranked order, about 24 per page (`maxPagesPerCategory`).
- **appUrls**: specific apps (URL or handle like `klaviyo-email-marketing`).
- **developerUrls**: every app from a partner, e.g. `https://apps.shopify.com/partners/klaviyo`.
- **includeAppDetails** (default `true`): turn it off for a faster listing-only run (rank, rating, reviews, pricing summary, tagline).
- **maxItems**: a hard cap on how many results are saved and billed.

```json
{
  "categoryUrls": ["https://apps.shopify.com/categories/marketing-and-conversion-marketing-email-marketing"],
  "maxPagesPerCategory": 2,
  "includeAppDetails": true,
  "maxItems": 50
}
You can download results as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or read them via the Apify API.
### Pricing
Pay per event: **$2.00 per 1,000 apps** ($0.002 per app record), and you aren't charged for platform usage. A full category page of 24 apps with complete details costs about **$0.05**. Set `maxItems` or a run spending limit to control costs.
### Tips
- To monitor changes, schedule the Actor daily or weekly on a category and diff `rating`, `reviewsCount` and `pricingPlans` over time.
- To build a lead list, use developer websites and partner pages. These are company data, not personal contacts.
### Responsible scraping & limitations
- The Actor only reads public pages and respects apps.shopify.com/robots.txt. In particular, it does **not** use the keyword search (`/search?q=`), which robots.txt disallows.
- It uses a low default concurrency with backoff.
- It does not collect reviews or reviewer identities.
- Shopify can change page layouts at any time. If a field comes back empty, please open an issue with your run ID.
- This Actor is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Shopify.
