## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Apple App Store Scraper — Apps, Search & Reviews by Country

Get app details and customer reviews from the **Apple App Store**, for any country store. Give it App Store links or app IDs, or search by keyword, and get clean data: rating, rating count, price, version, release notes, category, screenshots and the most recent reviews with star rating, title, text, app version and date. Export as JSON, CSV or Excel, or call it as an API.

It uses Apple's own public endpoints, so runs are fast and need no proxies or login.

### What you can do with it

- **Track your own app and its competitors.** Schedule a weekly run and chart rating, rating count and version history side by side.
- **Read what users say after each release.** Reviews carry the app version they were written for, so you can see how a release landed.
- **Compare countries.** Run the same app across `us`, `gb`, `de`, `jp` and more to see where ratings and complaints differ.
- **Research a category.** Search a keyword such as "habit tracker" and list the apps that rank for it, with their ratings, prices and categories (useful for ASO and market sizing).

### Input

```json
{
    "apps": ["https://apps.apple.com/us/app/instagram/id389801252", "570060128"],
    "searchTerms": ["habit tracker"],
    "countries": ["us", "gb"],
    "includeReviews": true,
    "maxReviewsPerApp": 200,
    "reviewsSince": "2026-09-01",
    "maxAppsPerSearch": 50
}
```

- `apps` — App Store links or numeric app IDs
- `searchTerms` — find apps by keyword
- `countries` — two-letter country codes (default `us`); every app and search runs once per country
- `includeReviews` — also return reviews (default on)
- `maxReviewsPerApp` — per app and country, up to 500 (default 200)
- `reviewsSince` — keep only reviews on or after this date (YYYY-MM-DD)
- `maxAppsPerSearch` — apps returned per search term and country, up to 200 (default 50)

Use `apps`, `searchTerms`, or both. An app found by a search and by a direct ID is returned once per country.

### Output

One dataset holds two kinds of item, told apart by the `type` field (`app` or `review`). Every item has every field; fields that do not apply are `null`. An app item (description shortened here):

```json
```

A review item (text shortened; the app fields are `null`, so they are left out here):

```json
{
    "type": "review",
    "appId": "389801252",
    "appName": "Instagram",
    "reviewDate": "2026-10-04T13:26:56.000Z",
    "voteCount": 0
}
```

Reviewer names and profile links are not collected. A `SUMMARY` record in the key-value store lists, for each app and country, the reviews found and returned, and for each search term, the apps found.

### Pricing

You pay per result returned.

### Limits worth knowing

- **Apple's feed exposes only the most recent 500 reviews per app per country, and often fewer.** Older reviews cannot be reached. To build a longer history, schedule regular runs and keep the results; use `reviewsSince` so each run returns only what is new.
- Reviews are per country store. A review written in the US store does not appear for `gb`.
- Ratings and rating counts cover all ratings the store holds; the reviews are only the written ones, so the two numbers will not match.
- Apple limits its search API to about 20 calls a minute, so searches run one at a time with a pause between them. Many search terms across many countries take a while.
- Search returns the apps Apple ranks for the keyword in that country, up to 200. It is not a full category listing.
- Prices and availability are those of each country's store. An app not sold in a country is reported as not found in the `SUMMARY`.
- In `SUMMARY`, `reviewsFound` is the number of reviews read from the feed before the run stopped paging, so when you set a limit it can be lower than what Apple holds.

# Actor input Schema

## `apps` (type: `array`):

App Store links (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/instagram/id389801252) or bare numeric app IDs.

## `searchTerms` (type: `array`):

Find apps by keyword, as you would in the App Store search box: habit tracker, budget planner.

## `countries` (type: `array`):

Two-letter App Store country codes, such as us, gb, de, jp. Every app and search is run once per country.

## `includeReviews` (type: `boolean`):

Also return the most recent customer reviews of each app, as separate items with type "review".

## `maxReviewsPerApp` (type: `integer`):

Apple's feed exposes only the most recent 500 reviews per app per country, so 500 is the ceiling.

## `reviewsSince` (type: `string`):

Keep only reviews written on or after this date, in the form YYYY-MM-DD. Leave empty for no date limit.

## `maxAppsPerSearch` (type: `integer`):

Apps returned for each search term and country, up to 200.

## Actor input object example

  ],
  "includeReviews": true,
  "maxReviewsPerApp": 50,
  "maxAppsPerSearch": 50
}
```
# Actor output Schema
## `results` (type: `string`):
App items and review items in one dataset, told apart by the type field.
## `summary` (type: `string`):
Per app and country: reviews found and returned. Per search term: apps found.
