# Bulk Hosting & PHP-CVE Exposure Auditor (`srvscripts/hosting-php-cve-auditor`) Actor

Passively fingerprint the web stack and PHP version of many domains and flag PHP versions behind the latest security release (incl. the Oct 2026 php2shell CVEs). Read-only, no exploit probing.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Bulk Hosting & PHP-CVE Exposure Auditor

Audit a whole list of domains for **PHP version exposure** in one run. For each domain this Actor passively reports:

- **PHP version** (when the server discloses it) and whether it is **behind the latest security release** — including the October 2026 **"php2shell"** CVEs (**CVE-2026-109618 / CVE-2026-109619**) and **CVE-2026-115560** (`session.upload_progress` RCE).
- **Web server / stack** — LiteSpeed, nginx, Apache, OpenResty, IIS, Caddy.
- **WAF / CDN** in front — Cloudflare, Sucuri, Akamai, Fastly, Plesk.
- **CMS and version** — WordPress (and other `generator`-tagged CMSs) when exposed.
- A plain **verdict**: *EOL PHP*, *behind latest security release*, *current*, *version not disclosed*, or *no PHP detected*.

### Passive and safe — read this

This is a **passive** auditor. It sends **ordinary GET requests to the homepage only**, reads the response headers and HTML, and never follows a redirect to a private address. It does **not** probe the `session.upload_progress` path, send any exploit payload, attempt a login, or test any vulnerability path. It tells you *what version is running and whether it's patched* — it does not try to break in.

**Use it only on domains you own or manage.** Version detection is best-effort: a server can hide or spoof its PHP banner, and sitting behind a WAF can shield an unpatched PHP — so a result is a strong hint to confirm on the server, not a guarantee.

### Who it's for

Hosting providers, agencies and MSPs auditing many client sites at once for out-of-date, CVE-exposed PHP — portfolio sweeps, onboarding checks, and "are any of our sites behind on the latest PHP security release?"

### Input

```json
{ "domains": ["example.com", "anotherdomain.com"] }
```

### Output (one dataset row per domain)

`domain`, `reachable`, `http_code`, `verdict`, `php_detected`, `php_branch`, `php_status` (patched / unpatched / EOL / undisclosed / unknown), `php_latest_secure`, `php_note`, `web_server`, `waf_cdn`, `cms`, `cms_version`, `recent_php_cves`, `baseline_as_of`.

### The PHP security baseline

The "latest secure version per branch" table is curated and dated (`baseline_as_of`). As of **2026-10-24**: 8.5 → 8.5.12, 8.4 → 8.4.27, 8.3 → 8.3.36, 8.2 → 8.2.35; PHP 8.1 and older are end-of-life (no fixes). Confirm against php.net for the current release.

# Actor input Schema

## `domains` (type: `array`):

Domains to audit (one per line), e.g. example.com. Audit only sites you own or manage. Read-only, passive checks — no exploit attempts.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "domains": [
    "example.com",
    "anotherdomain.com"
  ]
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

One row per domain: web server, WAF/CDN, detected PHP version and security status, CMS, and verdict.

# API

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "domains": [
        "example.com"
    ]
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("srvscripts/hosting-php-cve-auditor").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
The hosted server signs you in with OAuth on first connect, so no API token belongs in this config. Clients without OAuth support can send an `Authorization: Bearer <APIFY_API_TOKEN>` header instead, using a token from API & Integrations in Apify Console (https://console.apify.com/settings/integrations).
