## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Ashby Jobs Scraper — Any Ashby Job Board | $1/1K

**Paste an Ashby job board, get every open job with salary as clean JSON. $1 per 1,000 jobs.**

Ashby is the applicant tracking system many fast-growing startups use (for example Ramp, Notion and OpenAI). This Actor reads Ashby's **public job-board API** — the feed behind `jobs.ashbyhq.com/<company>` — and returns every listing with department, team, all locations, remote / hybrid information, compensation and the apply link.

- ✅ **Any Ashby board** — `jobs.ashbyhq.com/<company>` or just the board name (`ramp`)
- ✅ **Compensation included** — Ashby's structured pay range, or a range parsed from the description
- ✅ **Remote and hybrid** — `workplace_type`, `remote` flag and every office listed for multi-location roles
- ✅ **Whole board in one request** — Ashby returns all jobs at once, so even boards with 800+ jobs finish in seconds
- ✅ **Monitor mode** — pay only for jobs added since your last run
- ✅ **Filters** — keywords, excluded words, location, remote, department/team, posted within N days
- ✅ No browser, no proxy, no login; no recruiter names or contact details

> Need Greenhouse, Lever, Workday and SmartRecruiters too? The combined [ATS Jobs API](https://apify.com/steadyrow/ats-jobs) covers them in one run. This is the Ashby-only version.

### What it is good for

- **Startup job boards and newsletters** — Ashby is where many venture-backed companies post
- **Funding-to-hiring signals**: which startup is hiring which teams, and how fast
- **Compensation benchmarks** — Ashby postings often include pay ranges
- **Daily new-job alerts** with monitor mode
- **AI agent tools** that need a structured list of open roles

### Input

```json
{
    "boards": [
        "https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/ramp",
        "notion",
        "ashby:openai"
    ],
    "keywords": ["engineer", "designer"],
    "excludeKeywords": ["intern"],
    "locations": ["New York", "Remote"],
    "remote": "any",
    "departments": ["Engineering"],
    "maxItemsPerSource": 200,
    "monitorMode": false
}
```

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| `boards` | **Required.** One per line: an Ashby URL, a board name (`ramp` or `ashby:ramp`), a job URL (the whole board is scraped) or a company careers page that embeds an Ashby board. |
| `keywords`, `excludeKeywords`, `searchInDescription` | Title keyword filters (whole word, case-insensitive); optionally also match the description. |
| `locations` | Keep jobs whose primary location, any secondary location or country contains one of these words. |
| `remote` | `any`, `remote_only` or `exclude_remote`. |
| `departments` | Keep jobs whose Ashby department or team contains one of these strings. |
| `postedWithinDays` | Only jobs published in the last N days. |
| `maxItemsPerSource` / `maxItems` | Limits per board / per run (0 = no limit). |
| `includeDescription`, `includeDescriptionHtml` | Plain-text and/or HTML description. |
| `monitorMode`, `monitorStateName` | Only output jobs not delivered before; name of the store that remembers them. |

The board name is the last part of `https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/<board-name>`.

### Output

```json
{
    "job_id": "ashby:notion:8c0bf773-e536-45c9-9a6c-8ee478148cc8",
    "input": "ashby:notion",
    "scraped_at": "2026-10-20T16:47:36.191Z"
}
```

Ashby-specific notes:

- `remote` is `true` when Ashby marks the job "remote allowed" or the workplace type is remote. A hybrid role that allows remote work in some offices can therefore be `remote: true` and `workplace_type: "hybrid"`.
- `salary_source` is `ats` when Ashby publishes a compensation range for the job and `description` when the range was parsed from the text.
- Ashby does not return a display name; `company` is derived from the board name.
- The summary per board (listed / output / errors) is saved as `SUMMARY` in the key-value store.

### Monitor mode

Enable **Monitor mode**, save the input as a task and run it on a schedule. The first run outputs everything that matches; later runs output only new jobs. State is stored per board in the key-value store `ashby-jobs-monitor`. In our tests a second run returned 0 jobs, and after forgetting 6 jobs the third run returned those 6.

### Pricing

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Job in the dataset | **$0.001** ($1 per 1,000 jobs) |
| Actor start | $0.002 per run |

Example: a board with 800 jobs ≈ $0.80 for a full export; a daily monitor that finds 10 new jobs ≈ $0.012. Filtered-out and already-delivered jobs are free. Set **Maximum cost per run** to cap spending.

### FAQ

**How big can a board be?** In our tests OpenAI had 804 listed jobs, Ramp 168 and Notion 135; Ashby delivers a board in a single response.

**"Ashby job board not found"** — the board name is wrong or the company uses another ATS. Check `https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/<name>` in a browser.

**Is it legal?** The Actor uses Ashby's public posting API, without login or any protection bypass, and outputs no personal data. You are responsible for how you use the data.

# Actor input Schema

## `boards` (type: `array`):

One per line. Paste an Ashby URL (https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/ramp), a board name (`ramp` or `ashby:ramp`), a job URL (the whole board is scraped), or a company careers page that embeds an Ashby board.

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

Keep jobs whose title contains at least one of these words (whole-word, case-insensitive). Leave empty to keep all.

## `searchInDescription` (type: `boolean`):

By default keywords are matched against the job title only.

## `excludeKeywords` (type: `array`):

Drop jobs whose title contains any of these words (e.g. Senior, Intern).

## `locations` (type: `array`):

Keep jobs whose location, any of their locations, or country contains one of these words (whole-word, case-insensitive; e.g. London, Germany, US). Use `remote` to match remote jobs.

## `remote` (type: `string`):

Filter by remote eligibility.

## `departments` (type: `array`):

Keep jobs whose Ashby department or team contains one of these strings (e.g. Engineering).

## `postedWithinDays` (type: `integer`):

Only jobs posted in the last N days. 0 = no limit.

## `maxItemsPerSource` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many jobs from one board. 0 = all jobs.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Stop the whole run after this many jobs. 0 = no limit.

## `includeDescription` (type: `boolean`):

Adds `description_text` (the full job text as plain text).

## `includeDescriptionHtml` (type: `boolean`):

Adds `description_html` (cleaned original HTML).

## `monitorMode` (type: `boolean`):

Remembers every job already delivered (per board) and outputs only jobs you have not received before. The first run outputs all matching jobs. Ideal for a daily schedule — you only pay for new jobs.

## `monitorStateName` (type: `string`):

Name of the key-value store that keeps the list of delivered jobs. Use a different name per task if you run several independent monitors.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

Detail requests run in parallel up to this number. Requests to one ATS host are additionally limited to about 4 per second.
