# App Store & Google Play Reviews Scraper (`steadyrows/app-store-google-play-reviews`) Actor

Get reviews from the Apple App Store and Google Play in one run: rating, text, app version, developer replies, dates. Many countries at once, date filter for monitoring, one clean output format for both stores.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### What this does

Pulls user reviews from the **Apple App Store and Google Play in one run** and returns them in one format. Paste package names, App Store IDs or store URLs in any mix, pick countries, and get rating, title, text, date and the developer's reply. **Full history on both stores**: App Store reviews are not capped at the 500 that Apple's RSS feed allows, and App Store developer replies are included.

Typical uses:

- **Monitor your own app.** Schedule a daily run with `since: "1 day"` and you get only the new reviews, so you only pay for new reviews.
- **Read competitors' complaints.** Set `ratings: [1, 2]` to collect just the one- and two-star reviews for a rival app.
- **Compare markets.** Run the same app across `["us", "gb", "de", "in"]`, or `["all"]` for the 40 largest App Store markets.
- **Feed an AI model or a spreadsheet.** Every row has the same fields whichever store it came from.

### Input

```json
{
  "apps": ["com.spotify.music", "324684580"],
  "countries": ["us", "gb"],
  "maxReviewsPerApp": 500,
  "since": "30 days",
  "ratings": [1, 2]
}
```

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `apps` | Google Play package (`com.spotify.music`) or Play URL; App Store ID (`324684580`, `id324684580`) or apps.apple.com URL. |
| `countries` | Two-letter codes. `"all"` = 40 largest markets. |
| `maxReviewsPerApp` | Cap per app per country. |
| `since` | `2026-09-01` or `"7 days"`, `"2 weeks"`, `"1 month"`. |
| `ratings` | Keep only these star ratings. |
| `sort` | `newest` (default) or `relevant` on both stores; `rating` on Google Play only. |
| `language` | Google Play review language, default `en`. |
| `includeAppDetails` | Adds the app's overall rating, rating count, version and developer to each row. |

### Output

```json
{
  "store": "app_store",
  "appId": "389801252",
  "appTitle": "Instagram",
  "country": "us",
  "reviewId": "14598895287",
  "userName": "…",
  "rating": 1,
  "title": "Keeps logging me out",
  "text": "…",
  "date": "2026-09-27T09:40:06.000Z",
  "appVersion": null,
  "thumbsUp": null,
  "replyText": "Sorry about this. Please update to the latest version…",
  "replyDate": "2026-09-28T08:41:58.000Z",
  "url": "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id389801252?see-all=reviews"
}
```

Export as JSON, CSV, Excel, or pull through the Apify API.

### Limits worth knowing

- **App Store:** full history per country, newest first, with developer replies. Each country is a separate set of reviews. Apple does not publish the app version or helpful-vote count for these reviews, so `appVersion` and `thumbsUp` are empty for App Store rows (they are filled for Google Play). If Apple's review API is down, the actor falls back to Apple's RSS feed (500 most recent reviews, with app version) instead of returning nothing.
- **Google Play:** full history is available. Google Play shows mostly the **same reviews in every country**, so this actor removes repeats within a run. You are never charged twice for one review.
- Apple rate-limits heavy use. The actor paces its requests and retries, so large runs are slower than small ones (about 1,000 App Store reviews a minute per country) but complete.

### Pricing

You pay per review delivered. Duplicates and reviews removed by your filters are not charged. Set a maximum cost per run in the run options and the actor stops cleanly when it reaches it.

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Review | $0.10 per 1,000 |
| Run start | $0.002 |

### Support

Open an issue on the Issues tab. Broken runs get fixed first.

# Actor input Schema

## `apps` (type: `array`):

Mix both stores freely. Google Play: package name (com.spotify.music) or Play URL. App Store: numeric ID (324684580), id324684580, or apps.apple.com URL.

## `countries` (type: `array`):

Two-letter country codes (us, gb, in, de...). Reviews differ by country. Use "all" to cover the 40 largest markets.

## `maxReviewsPerApp` (type: `integer`):

Both stores return the full review history, newest first. On the App Store each country has its own reviews.

## `sort` (type: `string`):

Newest first works in both stores. Most relevant works in both. By rating is Google Play only (App Store falls back to newest).

## `since` (type: `string`):

Date like 2026-09-01 or a relative period like "7 days". Great for scheduled monitoring: only new reviews are returned and charged.

## `ratings` (type: `array`):

For example \[1, 2] to collect only complaints. Empty = all ratings.

## `language` (type: `string`):

Two-letter language code for Google Play reviews.

## `includeAppDetails` (type: `boolean`):

Adds the app's overall rating, rating count and current version to every row.

```
# Actor output Schema
## `results` (type: `string`):
All rows the run collected, one per item, in the default dataset.
