## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Flippa Scraper — websites, SaaS, apps and domains for sale, with sold comps

This **Flippa scraper** reads Flippa (flippa.com), the marketplace of online businesses, and exports every listing as one clean row:
**asking price, monthly revenue, monthly profit, profit multiple, age, type, industry, location, sale method, bids and
time left, price cuts, verified data sources and who lists it** (Flippa broker, partner broker or owner). Search the
way the site does — category, keyword, industry, price, revenue, profit, multiple, age, auction or fixed price — or
paste any Flippa search, category page or listing link.

- **For sale now or recently sold**: switch to Flippa's **Recently Sold** list to get **sold comparables** for
  valuations, with the final bid count of each auction.
- **Listing page** (`includeDetails`): the exact monthly profit in the listed currency, profit margin, page views,
  revenue multiple, SaaS figures (MRR, active subscribers, churn), the **About the Business** text, what Flippa's
  vetting team verified, the connected data sources, reserve and Buy It Now price, inventory, a domain's registrar and
  expiry, the broker's public name and track record, views and watchers.

You pay per listing delivered. Searches without results and links that give nothing are free rows that say why. No
login, no start fee.

### What the Flippa scraper is for

- **Investors and acquirers** watching Flippa deal flow: run a saved search daily and get new SaaS, content sites,
  ecommerce stores or apps that match your price, profit and multiple.
- **Brokers and M\&A advisors**: comps from Flippa's recently sold listings, price cuts, auction activity and how
  other brokers price similar businesses.
- **Valuation and market research**: profit multiples by category, industry and age across thousands of listings.
- **Domain investors**: Flippa's domain listings with price, age, registrar and expiry.

### How the Flippa scraper works

1. Each keyword (or the filters alone) becomes a Flippa search, built exactly as Flippa's own filter form sends it.
   A pasted search or category link (`flippa.com/search?…`, `flippa.com/buy/saas`) is walked as it is.
2. The Actor reads the results pages Flippa serves to any visitor, up to 100 listings a page, until your maximum.
3. With `includeDetails`, it opens each listing's public page. A pasted listing link is always read on its page.
4. A listing found by an earlier search of the same run is delivered and charged once.

### Flippa scraper input example

```json
{
  "categories": ["saas"],
  "keywords": ["ai"],
  "minMonthlyProfit": 1000,
  "maxProfitMultiple": 4,
  "listingStatus": "open",
  "sort": "most_recent",
  "maxResultsPerSearch": 200,
}
```

#### Flippa listing fields (`rowType: listing`, charged)

| field | what it is |
|---|---|
| `id`, `url` | Flippa's listing id and page |
| `title`, `summary` | the business's name (or its type and industry when the listing is confidential) and its headline |
| `managedBy` | `flippa_broker`, `partner_broker` or `owner` |
| `type`, `industry`, `location` | as Flippa shows them (`SaaS`, `Internet`, `FL, United States`) |
| `monthlyRevenueUsd`, `monthlyProfitUsd`, `profitMultiple` | the card's figures in US dollars (Flippa rounds them: `USD $25.6K`); a loss is negative |
| `age`, `ageYears` | `2 years`, `<1 year` (0) |
| `saleType` | `classified` (asking price), `auction`, `open_to_offers` or `partial_sale` |
| `priceUsd`, `originalPriceUsd`, `priceReducedPercent` | asking price or current bid, and the price before a cut |
| `priceGuideMinUsd`, `priceGuideMaxUsd` | the guide of an "Open to Offers" listing |
| `equityForSalePercent` | the share for sale in a partial sale |
| `bidCount`, `timeLeft` | an auction's bids and time left |
| `listingStatus` | `open` or `sold` (from the auction's result, the listing page, or a search of sold listings) |
| `dataVerified`, `integrations` | the data sources the seller connected (Google Analytics, Stripe, Shopify…) |
| `firstAccessPublicOn` | a First Access listing: the day it opens to everyone |
| `keyword`, `searchUrl`, `position` | where the listing was found |
| `details` | the listing page (`includeDetails`, and every listing link), else `null` |
| `scrapedAt` | when the run read it (UTC, ISO 8601) |

#### Free rows

- `search`: one per search or results link — `ok`, `no_results`, `not_a_list`, `blocked`, `not_searched` (spending
  limit) or `unreadable` — with Flippa's own count (`totalListed`), `totalCapped` when it says `10,000+`, how many
  listings were delivered and how many were duplicates.
- `link`: a listing link that gave nothing — `invalid`, `not_found` (removed), `blocked`, `not_read` (spending limit)
  or `unreadable`.

The run's `SUMMARY` record counts everything.

### Flippa scraper pricing

| event | price | when |
|---|---|---|
| `listing` | US$0.001 | a listing as the search results show it |
| `listing-with-details` | US$0.002 | instead of `listing`, when its page was read (`includeDetails`, and every listing link) |

1,000 listings cost US$1; with their pages US$2. No start fee. Free rows cost nothing, and a listing page that cannot
be read leaves the row at the `listing` price. Set a spending limit on the run and the Actor stops before reading
anything it would not pay for.

### Limits of the Flippa data

- **Flippa shows at most 10,000 results of one search** (its counter reads `10,000+`, mostly domains). Split a large
  search by category, price or keyword to reach the rest; the search row says when a search was capped.
- **Traffic charts, financial history, seller notes and NDA documents need a Flippa account** and are not read. A
  First Access listing's broker is shown only to Flippa's paid Premium members and is left out.
- Owners who list themselves are shown to signed-in members only: their rows carry no seller.
- The card figures are Flippa's rounded US-dollar values; the listing page gives the exact monthly profit in the
  currency the seller listed in.
- One Flippa request every 0.7 s: about 20 seconds per 1,000 listings from search results, about 12 minutes with
  their pages.
- If Flippa refuses (a firewall answer or a bot check), the Actor retries twice from another IP, never solves a
  challenge, and then stops asking: the rest are free `blocked` rows and the run still ends successfully.

### Is scraping Flippa legal?

This Actor reads only public pages — Flippa's search results and listing pages, which any visitor can open without an
account — at a visitor's pace, follows Flippa's robots.txt (it never opens user profiles, bids, offers or watch lists),
never signs in and never bypasses any protection. It keeps the people behind a listing out: only a broker's public
name and marketplace track record, as Flippa shows them on the listing. **Using the data is your responsibility**,
including Flippa's terms of use and data protection law where you work.

This Actor is **not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Flippa**. Read more in Apify's blog post on
[the legality of web scraping](https://blog.apify.com/is-web-scraping-legal/).

# Actor input Schema

## `categories` (type: `array`):

What kind of business to list, as Flippa's own category filter: <code>SaaS</code>, <code>Ecommerce</code>, <code>Content sites</code>, <code>iOS apps</code>, <code>YouTube channels</code>, <code>Domains</code>… Leave empty for every kind.

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

Words to search Flippa for, one per line (<code>newsletter</code>, <code>shopify app</code>, <code>pet</code>). Each keyword is a separate search with the same filters. Leave empty to list everything the filters match. Up to 50.

## `industries` (type: `array`):

Flippa's industry filter (<code>Business</code>, <code>Health and Beauty</code>, <code>Internet</code>…). Leave empty for every industry.

## `listingStatus` (type: `string`):

## `saleMethod` (type: `string`):

Auctions, fixed-price (classified) listings, or both.

Highest asking price.

## `minMonthlyRevenue` (type: `integer`):

Lowest average monthly revenue.

## `maxMonthlyRevenue` (type: `integer`):

Highest average monthly revenue.

## `minMonthlyProfit` (type: `integer`):

Lowest average monthly net profit.

## `maxMonthlyProfit` (type: `integer`):

Highest average monthly net profit.

## `minProfitMultiple` (type: `number`):

A search with any filters set on the site (<code>https://flippa.com/search?filter\[property_type]\[]=website</code>) or a category page (<code>https://flippa.com/buy/saas</code>) is walked like a search; a listing (<code>https://flippa.com/14144546-…</code>) is read on its own page and charged as a listing with details. The form above searches too when you give it keywords or a filter. Up to 5,000.

## `maxResultsPerSearch` (type: `integer`):

Stop each search (each keyword, and each search link) after this many listings. Flippa shows at most 10,000 results of one search; narrow the filters to reach the rest. The run's spending limit is respected too.

## `includeDetails` (type: `boolean`):

Also read every listing's own page: exact monthly profit in the listed currency, profit margin, page views, revenue multiple, SaaS figures (MRR, subscribers, churn), the <b>About the Business</b> text, what Flippa's vetting team verified and which data sources are connected, bids and reserve, Buy It Now price, inventory, a domain's registrar and expiry, the broker's public name and track record, views and watchers. Charged as <code>listing-with-details</code> instead of <code>listing</code>. Traffic charts, financial history and seller notes need a Flippa account and are not read.
