## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Apple Podcasts Scraper – Shows, Episodes & Search

Find podcasts on **Apple Podcasts** by topic or name, or fetch them by ID/URL. You get the show data **and its latest episodes** in one result: title, date, duration, description and audio URL. The data comes from **Apple's official iTunes Search API**.

**$1.50 per 1,000 podcasts, episodes included.** You only pay for podcasts returned.

### What you get for each podcast

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `title`, `author`, `podcastId`, `url` | The Daily · The New York Times · 1200361736 |
| `feedUrl` | RSS feed of the show |
| `primaryGenre`, `genres`, `explicit`, `contentRating` | News · Daily News |
| `episodeCount`, `latestEpisodeDate` | 2,741 episodes |
| `artwork` | 600 × 600 cover image |
| `episodes[]` | `title`, `releaseDate`, `durationSeconds`, `description`, `audioUrl`, `url`, `guid` (newest first, up to 200) |
| `searchTerm`, `searchPosition`, `country`, `scrapedAt` | run context |

### Use cases

- **Podcast guest booking and PR:** find active shows for your topic and check when they last published.
- **Market research:** see which podcasts exist in a niche, how many episodes they have and how often they publish.
- **Content and AI pipelines:** collect episode titles, descriptions and audio URLs, for example to transcribe them.
- **Monitoring:** schedule runs to track new episodes of shows you follow.

### How to use

```json
{
  "searchTerms": ["artificial intelligence"],
  "podcasts": ["https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-daily/id1200361736"],
  "maxResultsPerSearch": 20,
  "includeEpisodes": true,
  "maxEpisodesPerPodcast": 20,
  "country": "us"
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$0.0015 per podcast returned** ($1.50 per 1,000), including up to 200 episodes each. Platform usage is included.

### Use with AI agents (MCP)

This Actor works as a tool for AI assistants and agents – Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, n8n and other MCP clients – through Apify's hosted MCP server. Add this server URL to your client:

```
https://mcp.apify.com?tools=stevenkramp/apple-podcasts-scraper
```

Sign in with your Apify account when asked. Your agent can then call the Actor in plain language, for example: *"Find 20 active podcasts about real estate investing and list their latest episode dates."* Runs started by your agent are normal Actor runs on your Apify account at the same pay-per-event price.

### FAQ

**Contact e-mails?** Not included. We return public show and episode data only, and no e-mail addresses.

**Rate limits?** Apple's API allows about 20 requests per minute. The Actor respects this. Each podcast with episodes needs one request, so 100 podcasts take about 5 minutes.

**Something broken?** Open an issue in the Issues tab. We fix problems quickly.
