## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google News Scraper – Real URLs & Timestamps

Monitor **Google News** for any topic, brand or keyword in any country and language. Every article comes with the **real publisher URL** (not Google's redirect link) and the **exact publish timestamp**, ready for media monitoring, PR reports, trading signals or LLM pipelines.

**$1.50 per 1,000 articles.** You only pay for articles returned.

### What you get for each article

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `title` | One year after the end of the EV tax credit, is the future still electric? |
| `source` | NPR |
| `url` | https://www.npr.org/2026/09/30/… (real article URL) |
| `publishedAt`, `timeText` | 2026-09-30T09:00:00+00:00 · "2 days ago" |
| `snippet` | short summary shown by Google (when available) |
| `googleLink`, `docId`, `clusterId` | Google's link and IDs (clusterId groups articles about the same story) |
| `query`, `position`, `country`, `language`, `scrapedAt` | run context |

### Use cases

- **Media monitoring and PR:** track mentions of your brand, competitors or executives.
- **Market and investment research:** news flow per company or sector with exact timestamps.
- **Content and LLM pipelines:** feed fresh, deduplicated article URLs into summarizers or RAG systems.
- **Local news:** set country and language, e.g. `de`/`de` for German regional news.

### How to use

1. Enter **search queries** (topics, brands, keywords).
2. Pick **Published within** (past hour, day, week, month, year) for monitoring runs.
3. Set **country** and **language**, and **max articles per query** (up to 100).

```json
{
  "queries": ["electric cars", "Tesla"],
  "timeRange": "day",
  "maxResultsPerQuery": 50,
  "country": "us",
  "language": "en"
}
```

**Tip:** Schedule the Actor hourly or daily with `timeRange` = past hour/day and connect it to Slack, e-mail or Google Sheets via Apify integrations.

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$0.0015 per article returned** ($1.50 per 1,000 articles), plus Apify's tiny actor-start fee. Platform usage is included.

### Use with AI agents (MCP)

This Actor works as a tool for AI assistants and agents – Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, n8n and other MCP clients – through Apify's hosted MCP server. Add this server URL to your client:

```
https://mcp.apify.com?tools=stevenkramp/google-news-scraper
```

Sign in with your Apify account when asked. Your agent can then call the Actor in plain language, for example: *"Collect today's news about Tesla with the real publisher URLs."* – and gets clean, structured JSON back. Runs started by your agent are normal Actor runs on your Apify account at the same pay-per-event price.

### FAQ

**Why do a few articles have no snippet?** Google doesn't show a summary for every story, for example in "Top stories" layouts.

**Do you scrape the full article text?** No. The Actor returns Google News metadata and the real URL. If you need the full text, combine it with a content crawler.

**Something broken?** Open an issue in the Issues tab. We fix scrapers quickly when Google changes its pages.
