## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Barona.fi Scraper

Extract job listings from [Barona.fi](https://www.barona.fi), one of the largest staffing and recruitment agencies in Finland, as clean structured JSON. Search by keyword, filter by city or country, and get job titles, companies, locations, contract type and full descriptions in one run.

No login. No cookies. No browser automation. The actor reads the same JSON feed the Barona.fi website itself calls to render its job-search page, so it is fast and stable.

### What this actor does

Given an optional search keyword, this actor collects the matching job listings from Barona.fi and returns one row per job with:

- Job title
- Hiring company (a Barona subsidiary like "Barona Rakennus Oy", or a named end client such as Ramirent)
- City and all covered work locations
- Country (Barona.fi mostly lists Finnish roles, but occasionally carries postings for other Barona markets)
- Industry and profession taxonomy labels
- Seniority level, job type (full-time/part-time) and contract type (permanent, fixed-term, temporary, gig, seasonal)
- Posting language, campaign start/end dates
- Full plain-text description (HTML stripped)
- The job's unique ID and direct application URL (Barona Careers / Fuzu)

Leave the search query empty and the actor returns Barona's full active catalog — no keyword is required to get data.

### Why use it

- **Staffing market research** — track what roles Finland's largest staffing agency is placing, for whom, and where.
- **Recruitment and sourcing** — build a live feed of temp and permanent positions for a role or region.
- **Competitive intelligence** — compare Barona's open roles against TE-palvelut public listings or Duunitori's aggregated board.
- **Aggregators and job boards** — feed Finnish staffing-agency listings into your own product.

### How to scrape Barona data

1. Open the actor and set a **Search Query** (for example `logistiikka`, `myyjä`, `asentaja`) — or leave it empty to pull the entire active job catalog.
2. Optionally set a **Location filter** such as `Helsinki`, `Tampere` or `Jyväskylä` to narrow results to that city.
3. Optionally set a **Country filter** (ISO code, e.g. `FI`) if you want to isolate Finland-only postings from the occasional cross-border listing.
4. Set **Max Results**.
5. Leave the proxy on the default automatic setting (Barona.fi has no anti-bot protection) and click **Start**.

The actor calls Barona.fi's own job-feed API for your keyword, paginates through the results, applies your location/country filters client-side, and writes everything to the dataset. You can export the result as JSON, CSV or Excel.

### Input

| Field | Type | Description |
|-------|------|-------------|
| `searchQuery` | string | Keyword to search for (matched server-side against title/content). Leave empty for the full active catalog. Default (prefill): `logistiikka`. |

| `country` | string | Optional ISO country code filter, applied client-side (e.g. `FI`, `SE`, `NO`). |
| `maxResults` | integer | Maximum number of listings to return. Default: `100`. |
| `proxyConfiguration` | object | Apify proxy settings. Default: automatic (no residential needed). |

### Cost estimate

This actor makes one lightweight JSON API request per 100 results — no browser, no per-item detail-page fetches. A 100-result run typically finishes in a few seconds; cost is dominated by the per-result charge, not compute or proxy traffic. Usage is only charged after a run finishes with status SUCCEEDED — a failed or aborted run doesn't bill for partial results.

### Limitations

- **Finland-focused, not strictly Finland-only.** Barona.fi's feed is ~96% Finnish listings, but occasionally carries a handful of postings for other Barona markets (Sweden, Norway, Poland, and others observed). Use the `country` filter to isolate Finland-only results if you need a clean single-market dataset.
- **Barona.fi only — sibling country sites are a different platform.** `barona.se` and `barona.no` are backed by a completely different ATS (recman.io) with an unrelated response shape; `barona.ee` returned no data in testing. Each would need its own recon and actor, the same way Randstad's country sites each run on a different platform under one brand.
- **Location filtering is client-side.** Barona's own location-taxonomy filter parameter did not reliably narrow results to the requested city in testing, so the `location` input matches by substring against each listing's city/cities fields instead.
- **Salary is not published.** Barona.fi listings don't expose structured pay-rate data.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchQuery` (type: `string`):

Keyword to search for (e.g. 'logistiikka', 'myyjä', 'asentaja'). Matched server-side against the job title and content. Leave empty to return the full active job catalog (no filter).

## `location` (type: `string`):

Optional city to filter results by (e.g. 'Helsinki', 'Tampere', 'Jyväskylä'). Applied client-side against each listing's city/cities fields — Barona's own location taxonomy filter did not reliably narrow results in testing.

## `country` (type: `string`):

Optional ISO country code to filter results by (e.g. 'FI', 'SE', 'NO'). Barona.fi's feed is FI-dominant (~96% of listings) but also carries occasional postings for other Barona markets. Applied client-side.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of job listings to return.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Proxy settings. Barona.fi has no anti-bot protection (plain WordPress AJAX endpoint) — Apify's automatic/free proxy pool is sufficient.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "searchQuery": "logistiikka",
  "maxResults": 20,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": true
  }
}
