## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## StudentJob.nl Scraper

Extract student and graduate job listings from [studentjob.nl](https://www.studentjob.nl), the Netherlands' dedicated student jobs board, as clean structured JSON. Search by keyword and get job titles, companies, locations, pay, education level and full descriptions in one run.

No login. No cookies. No browser automation. The actor reads studentjob.nl's own sitemap to find listings, then parses the `JobPosting` structured data embedded on each job page — the same data Google reads to power its job search results.

### What this actor does

Given a search keyword, this actor finds matching listings on studentjob.nl and returns one row per job with:

- Job title
- Hiring company and company website
- Workplace city, region, postal code and country (plus every city for multi-location postings)
- Employment type (fulltime, parttime, temporary, internship, ...)
- Hourly, monthly or fixed pay, when the recruiter published it
- Accepted education level and job category
- Requested skills and benefits text
- Full job description
- Posted date, company logo and direct job URL

studentjob.nl is a dedicated student and graduate jobs board — a different market than general boards like Werk.nl or Randstad in this catalog. Listings skew toward part-time hospitality, retail, delivery and promotion work, plus internships and graduate roles, and most postings carry an hourly rate rather than an annual salary.

### Why use it

- **Student labour market research** — track how many part-time/bijbaan roles match a keyword, city or sector across the Netherlands.
- **Recruitment and sourcing** — build a live feed of open student and graduate positions for a role or region.
- **Hourly pay benchmarking** — a meaningful share of listings publish an hourly rate, giving a real market signal for student work that general job boards rarely expose.
- **Aggregators and job boards** — feed Dutch student/graduate listings into your own product.

### How to scrape studentjob.nl data

1. Open the actor and set a **Search Query** (for example `horeca`, `vakkenvuller`, `stage marketing`, `bezorger`). Dutch keywords work best since studentjob.nl is a Dutch board. Multiple words are matched as an AND against the job title.
2. Set **Max Results** to how many listings you want.
3. Leave the proxy on the default automatic setting and click **Start**.

The actor first reads studentjob.nl's XML sitemap to find job URLs whose title slug matches your search query, then fetches each matching detail page and parses the structured `JobPosting` data (the same schema.org markup studentjob.nl feeds to Google for its job-search rich results) plus the full description. Results are written to the dataset as they're collected. Export as JSON, CSV or Excel.

Leave **Search Query** empty (or use `{}` as input) and the actor falls back to a default `bijbaan` search — studentjob.nl's own term for a student side job — so a run with no input still returns data. Set it to `*` to fetch listings from the sitemap with no keyword filter at all.

### Input

| Field | Type | Description |
|-------|------|-------------|
| `searchQuery` | string | Keyword to filter job titles by. Dutch works best. Default: `bijbaan`. Use `*` for no filter. |
| `maxResults` | integer | Maximum number of listings to return. Default: `50`. |
| `proxyConfiguration` | object | Apify proxy settings. studentjob.nl has no anti-bot protection, so the default automatic proxy is sufficient — no residential tier needed. |

#### Example input

```json
{
    "searchQuery": "horeca",
    "maxResults": 50,
    "proxyConfiguration": {
        "useApifyProxy": true
    }
}
```

    "postedDate": "2026-08-02T14:39:03+02:00",

### Cost estimate

This actor uses plain HTTP requests (sitemap XML + server-rendered detail pages) with no browser, so runs are cheap and fast. Each result costs one detail-page request plus a small, shared, one-time cost for the sitemap at the start of a run. Exact cost depends on your Apify plan and proxy usage — check your run's usage summary for the exact figure. That figure only settles after the run reports SUCCEEDED; reading it mid-run shows a cost far below the eventual total.

### Limitations

- **Pay** is only populated when the recruiter filled it in on studentjob.nl — a meaningful minority of listings leave it blank, so `salaryMin`/`salaryMax`/`salaryCurrency`/`salaryPeriod` are `null` on those results. This is a fact about the source data, not a scraping gap.
- **Postal code is nulled when it fails a Dutch postal-code format check** (4 digits + 2 letters). A handful of recruiters on studentjob.nl publish the city name in the postal-code field instead of a real code — this actor drops that bad value rather than passing it through as a fake postal code.
- **Search matches the job title slug**, not the full description — studentjob.nl's own listing/search pages are disallowed by `robots.txt`, so this actor works entirely off the sitemap and detail pages instead, which is robots-compliant but means keyword matching happens against the title rather than a full-text search index.
- Only currently **open** listings are scraped — closed/expired postings are not returned.

### Related scrapers

Building a Dutch or European student/graduate jobs dataset? These sibling actors follow the same clean-JSON approach:

- **Werk.nl Scraper** — the Dutch public employment service's job board

# Actor input Schema

## `searchQuery` (type: `string`):

Keyword to filter job listings by (matched against the job title/slug, e.g. 'horeca', 'vakkenvuller', 'stage marketing'). Dutch keywords work best since studentjob.nl is a Dutch board. Leave empty for the default 'bijbaan' feed, or use '\*' to fetch listings with no filter at all.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of job listings to return.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Apify proxy settings. studentjob.nl has no anti-bot protection, so the automatic default proxy is sufficient.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "searchQuery": "bijbaan",
  "maxResults": 5,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": true
  }
}
```
