## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## XXL Sport Finland Scraper

Scrapes products from XXL Sport Finland ([xxl.fi](https://www.xxl.fi)), Finland's largest sports retailer. Covers running, skiing, cycling, outdoor, gym, team sports, and more.

Extract product names, brands, prices, discounts, stock status, ratings, and images by keyword search or category — no login, no cookies, no account required.

### What it does

Give the actor a Finnish search term (for example `juoksukengät` for running shoes) or a category URL, and it returns clean, structured product data ready for price monitoring, competitive research, or catalog building.

Prices are returned in EUR. Product data comes straight from XXL's own storefront search API, so results match what shoppers see on the site.

### Dual extraction strategy

The scraper first calls XXL Finland's **Elevate storefront search API** (Voyado Elevate v3) for structured product data. Every product returns typed fields — brand, title, selling price, list price, stock, rating, and images — so field coverage is high and stable.

If the API doesn't return results for a given input, it falls back to **CheerioCrawler** with `__NEXT_DATA__` extraction and JSON-LD parsing from the Next.js frontend.

### Input

| Field | Type | Description |
|-------|------|-------------|
| `searchQuery` | String | Finnish search term (e.g. `juoksukengät`, `sukset`, `polkupyörä`) |
| `categoryUrl` | String | Category URL (e.g. `https://www.xxl.fi/juoksu/juoksukengat/c/100304`). Overrides search query |
| `maxResults` | Integer | Maximum products to return (default: 100) |
| `proxyConfiguration` | Object | Proxy settings. Residential proxies scoped to Finland recommended |

If you provide no input at all, the actor runs a default search so it always returns data.

#### Example input

```json
{
    "searchQuery": "juoksukengät",
    "maxResults": 100,
    "proxyConfiguration": {
        "useApifyProxy": true,
        "apifyProxyGroups": ["RESIDENTIAL"],
        "apifyProxyCountry": "FI"
    }
}
```

### Output

```json
{
    "name": "Bondi 9, naisten juoksukengät",
    "brand": "Hoka",
    "price": 145,
    "originalPrice": 165,
    "currency": "EUR",
    "sku": "1242287_1_Style",
    "productId": "1242287_1_Style",
    "inStock": true,
    "rating": 4.7,
    "imageUrl": "https://cdn.xxl.fi/filespin/925b844c520d4eadaab878f1e8649291",
    "url": "https://www.xxl.fi/hoka-bondi-9-naisten-juoksukengat-ruskea/p/1242287_1_Style",
    "scrapedAt": "2026-07-07T10:00:00.000Z"
}
```

### Output fields

| Field | Description |
|-------|-------------|
| `name` | Product name / title |
| `brand` | Brand or manufacturer |
| `price` | Current selling price (EUR) |
| `originalPrice` | List price before discount, when discounted |
| `currency` | Always `EUR` for xxl.fi |
| `sku` / `productId` | XXL product key |
| `inStock` | Whether the product is currently in stock |
| `rating` | Average customer rating (0–5) |
| `reviewCount` | Number of reviews, when available |
| `imageUrl` | Primary product image |
| `imageUrls` | All gallery images, when more than one |
| `url` | Canonical product page URL |
| `scrapedAt` | ISO timestamp of the scrape |

### Product URL pattern

XXL Finland product pages follow: `/{brand}-{product-name}/p/{product-key}`

### Data sources (in priority order)

1. Elevate storefront API v3 — typed fields (`title`, `brand`, `sellingPrice`, `listPrice`, `inStock`, `rating`, `imageInfo`)
2. Next.js `__NEXT_DATA__` — SSR page props with product objects
3. JSON-LD Product schema from HTML
4. OpenGraph meta tags as a last resort

### How to scrape XXL Sport data

1. Go to this actor's page on the [Apify Store](https://apify.com/store).
2. Click **Try for free** to open it in Apify Console.
3. Enter a Finnish search query (like `juoksukengät`) or a category URL, set the maximum number of results, and adjust proxy settings if needed.
4. Click **Start** and wait for the run to finish.
5. Download your data in JSON, CSV, or Excel, or connect it to your workflow via the API.

You can also schedule regular runs, set up webhooks for real-time notifications, or integrate the results directly into your application using the [Apify API](https://docs.apify.com/api).

### Cost and performance

The Elevate API returns up to 48 products per request, so listing scrapes are fast and cheap. It costs $0.02 per run plus $0.002 per result — about $2.02 for 1,000 results.

### Tips and tricks

- **Use Finnish keywords**: the site is Finnish, so `juoksukengät` returns far more than `running shoes`.
- **Start small**: test with `maxResults: 5` before running large scrapes.
- **Use Finland proxies**: residential proxies scoped to Finland give the best success rates.
- **Schedule runs**: set up recurring runs to keep your price data fresh automatically.
- **Integrate via API**: use the [Apify API](https://docs.apify.com/api) or [client libraries](https://docs.apify.com/api/client) to fetch results programmatically.
- **No login required**: this actor scrapes publicly available data without needing an account.

### Limitations

- Data is scraped from the public website and may change without notice.
- Some products or listings may not be available in all regions.
- Very large scraping jobs may be slower due to proxy rotation and rate limiting.
- Respect the website's terms of service and use responsibly.

### Features

- **No login required** — scrapes publicly available data from XXL Finland without credentials or cookies.
- **Structured output** — results are returned as clean JSON objects, ready for processing.
- **Pagination handling** — automatically follows multiple pages of results.
- **Proxy support** — configurable proxy settings for reliable, large-scale scraping.
- **Flexible input** — search by keyword or provide a category URL.
- **Scheduled runs** — run on a schedule to keep your dataset up to date automatically.
- **API access** — integrate results into your workflow using the Apify API or webhooks.

### FAQ

**Is it legal to scrape XXL Sport?**
Web scraping of publicly available data is generally permitted. This actor only accesses information that is publicly visible to any website visitor. Always review the website's terms of service before scraping.

**How often should I run this scraper?**
For price monitoring or competitive intelligence, daily or weekly runs are common. Set up a [schedule](https://docs.apify.com/schedules) in Apify Console to automate this.

**Can I export the data to Google Sheets or Excel?**
Yes. After each run you can download results in CSV, JSON, or Excel format directly from Apify Console. You can also connect results to Google Sheets using Apify integrations.

**What if the scraper stops working?**
Websites change their structure occasionally. If you notice issues, please open an issue on the actor's page. We actively maintain this scraper and fix issues promptly.
