## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Hotels Scraper — prices, ratings & amenities (fast, no browser)

Get hotel and vacation-rental listings from **Google Hotels** for any city, neighbourhood or landmark: nightly and total prices, star class, guest rating and review count, amenities, coordinates, photos and a link to the Google Hotels page.

Built for **reliability**: plain HTTP (no headless browser), every retry gets a fresh proxy session, results are saved page by page so a timeout never loses what was already scraped, and an old or missing check-in date is moved forward instead of failing the run.

### Pricing

**$3 per 1,000 hotels** ($0.003 per result), pay per result. No monthly rental, and you only pay for hotels actually saved. Set a max total charge on the run and the scraper stops cleanly when it is reached, keeping everything scraped so far.

### Use cases

- Track hotel prices for a destination over time
- Build a price-comparison or travel-deals feed
- Revenue management: watch competitor hotels' rates
- Market research on hotel supply, star mix and ratings by city

### Input

| Field | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| `locations` | Cities, neighbourhoods or landmarks. `Calgary` → "hotels in Calgary"; text already mentioning hotels/rentals is used as typed. | — |
| `checkInDate` / `checkOutDate` | `YYYY-MM-DD`. Empty or past → 14 days from today, 2 nights. | auto |
| `adults` | Guests per room (1–12). | 2 |
| `maxResults` | Max hotels per location. Pages until reached or results run out. | 50 |
| `currency` | `USD`, `EUR`, `GBP`, `CAD`, … Applied to every page. | USD |
| `language` / `country` | Google `hl` / `gl`. | en / us |
| `includeSponsored` | Also save sponsored (ad) listings. | false |
| `proxyConfiguration` | Apify Proxy recommended. | Apify Proxy |

```json
{ "locations": ["Paris", "Times Square, New York"], "checkInDate": "2026-12-18", "checkOutDate": "2026-12-21", "maxResults": 100, "currency": "EUR" }
```

### Output (one item per property)

Real example (EUR, 2 nights):

```json
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-25T06:16:08.590Z"
}
```

A `RUN_SUMMARY` record in the key-value store lists hotels and pages per location and any location that failed.

### Notes

- Amenity lists are complete for vacation rentals and for the first page of hotels; later pages from Google carry fewer amenity details.
- Landmark searches work best with the city, e.g. `Times Square, New York`.
- Only public search results are collected. No login, no personal data.

# Actor input Schema

## `locations` (type: `array`):

Cities, neighbourhoods or landmarks. "Calgary" becomes "hotels in Calgary"; anything already mentioning hotels/rentals is used as typed.

## `checkInDate` (type: `string`):

YYYY-MM-DD. Leave empty, or pass a past date, and it uses 14 days from today (the run never fails on a stale date).

## `checkOutDate` (type: `string`):

YYYY-MM-DD. Leave empty for a 2-night stay.

## `adults` (type: `integer`):

Number of adult guests (1–12). Prices change with guest count.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Pages through Google's results until this many hotels are saved or results run out.

## `currency` (type: `string`):

Three-letter code, e.g. USD, EUR, GBP, CAD.

## `language` (type: `string`):

Google interface language code, e.g. en, fr, de, ja.

## `country` (type: `string`):

Two-letter search region.

## `includeSponsored` (type: `boolean`):

Also save paid/ad listings that Google marks as sponsored.

## `requestTimeoutSecs` (type: `integer`):

How long to wait for each Google response before retrying with a fresh session.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Apify Proxy recommended. Each retry uses a fresh session/IP.
