## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Remote Jobs API — 20,000+ company career sites

**Remote jobs straight from employers' own career sites** — Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workday, Workable, Recruitee, Teamtailor, Breezy HR, SmartRecruiters and Personio boards of 20,000+ companies. Not reposts from aggregators: every row links to the company's real application page.

- Filter by title keywords and exclusions, country or region, posting date and ATS.
- Newest first. Only-new mode turns a saved search into a daily remote-job alert.
- **$2 per 1,000 jobs.** Jobs removed by your filters are free.

### Quick start

```json
{ "keywords": ["python", "backend"], "excludeKeywords": ["senior"], "locations": ["Europe", "Germany", "remote"], "postedWithinDays": 7, "maxItems": 100 }
```

Daily alert:

```json
{ "keywords": ["product designer"], "onlyNewJobs": true, "stateKey": "designer-alert" }
```

### Output

`company`, `title`, `url`, `location`, `postedAt`, `vendor` (ATS), `remote` (always true), `employmentType`, `department`, `jobId`, salary fields where the ATS publishes them.

### How "remote" is decided

A job is remote when its ATS flags it as remote or its title or location says remote, anywhere or work from home. Hybrid roles are not included unless they say remote.

### Who uses it

| You are | You give it | You get |
|---|---|---|
| **Job seeker / job board** | Title keywords + locations | Fresh postings from employers' own career sites, often before aggregators list them |
| **Sales / SDR team** | Target-account list + a daily schedule | "Acme opened 3 Data Engineer roles" — a buying signal every morning |
| **Recruiting agency** | Client and prospect companies | Every new opening with a direct apply link |
| **Analyst / investor** | Watch-list companies | Hiring velocity by company, department and location |
| **AI agent** (API / MCP) | `keywords` or `companies` | Structured jobs in one call |

### Daily job alerts → Google Sheets or Slack

Schedule the Actor (Apify *Schedules*, n8n, Make or Zapier) with `onlyNewJobs: true` and a fixed `stateKey`. The first run is your baseline; every later run returns only postings that appeared since — and you are not billed again for jobs you already received. No new jobs means zero rows and zero cost.

n8n: **Schedule Trigger → HTTP Request → Google Sheets (Append rows) → Slack**, with

- **POST** `https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/suitable_sunspot~remote-jobs-api/run-sync-get-dataset-items?timeout=180&maxTotalChargeUsd=0.1`
- Header `Authorization: Bearer <your Apify token>`
- Body: `{"keywords": ["python", "backend"], "onlyNewJobs": true, "stateKey": "remote-alert", "maxItems": 200}`

`maxTotalChargeUsd` caps the cost of each run.

**Python** (`pip install apify-client`):

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("<your Apify token>")
run = client.actor("suitable_sunspot~remote-jobs-api").call(
    run_input={"keywords": ["python", "backend"], "onlyNewJobs": True, "stateKey": "remote-alert", "maxItems": 200},
    max_total_charge_usd=0.10,
)
for job in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(job["company"], "|", job["title"], "|", job["url"])
```

### What it costs

$2.00 per 1,000 jobs, nothing else. A daily alert that finds 300 new postings a week costs **$0.60 a week**; a one-off search for 100 jobs costs **$0.20**. Jobs removed by your filters, errors, companies not found and jobs you already received in monitoring mode are never charged. Apify's free plan includes monthly credit, enough to try it at no cost.

### Limits

- Results come from a daily index of public career boards, so a job posted in the last few hours may not be in yet. Descriptions are not included; open `url` or use [ATS Jobs API](https://apify.com/suitable_sunspot/keyless-ats-jobs-api) in company mode for full text.

# Actor input Schema

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

Keep jobs whose title contains any of these words (matched at word start: 'engineer' matches 'Engineering Manager', 'AI' does not match 'maintain'). Leave companies empty to search every company in the daily index of ~20,000 live Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workday, SmartRecruiters, Workable, Recruitee, Teamtailor, Breezy and Personio boards. Filtered-out jobs are free.

## `excludeKeywords` (type: `array`):

Drop jobs whose title contains any of these, e.g. senior, intern, sales.

## `locations` (type: `array`):

Keep jobs whose location contains any of these (city, region or country as written in the posting, e.g. Berlin, London, Germany, United States). Use 'remote' to also accept remote roles.

## `postedWithinDays` (type: `integer`):

Only jobs first published in the last N days. Jobs without a publish date are dropped when this is set.

## `atsPlatforms` (type: `array`):

Only jobs from these applicant tracking systems. Empty = all ten.

## `companies` (type: `array`):

Optional. Company names (Stripe, Notion, NVIDIA — looked up in a directory of ~35,000 ATS boards), 'vendor:board' strings (greenhouse:gitlab, lever:palantir, ashby:openai) or careers-page URLs (https://nvidia.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com/NVIDIAExternalCareerSite). Fetched live. Leave empty to search the whole index with the filters above.

## `onlyNewJobs` (type: `boolean`):

Turn this on for scheduled monitoring. The Actor remembers which jobs it already delivered (in a named key-value store in your own Apify account) and returns only postings that appeared since your previous run. You pay only for the new rows. The first run returns all current jobs as the baseline.

## `stateKey` (type: `string`):

Used with 'Only new jobs'. Keep one name per watch-list (e.g. 'sales-targets', 'competitors') so different schedules keep separate memories.

## `maxJobsPerCompany` (type: `integer`):

Cap per company. Hitting it is reported as coverageStatus=capped with a reason, never a silent truncation. Default 200; raise it for big employers.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Hard ceiling on delivered rows across all companies in one run (and therefore on cost).

## `includeDescriptions` (type: `boolean`):

Company mode: fetch full job descriptions (one extra request per job for Workday, SmartRecruiters and Breezy). Search mode returns jobs without descriptions.

## `maxRetries` (type: `integer`):

Retries per request for retryable failures (429, 5xx, network).

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Apify Proxy settings. Public ATS APIs rarely need a proxy; enable only if a source blocks.

## Actor input object example

{
  "keywords": [
    "python",
    "data engineer"
  ],
