## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Kenya Tenders Scraper – Government Tenders & Contract Awards (tenders.go.ke / PPIP)

Extract **Kenyan public procurement tenders and contract awards** from the official Public Procurement Information Portal (PPIP, [tenders.go.ke](https://tenders.go.ke)) run by the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA). Data is published openly under Executive Order No. 2 of 2018 and in the Open Contracting Data Standard (OCDS).

### What you get

- **Active tenders** (open now), **all tenders** (archive) and **contract awards** (supplier + award value)
- Normalised fields: OCID, tender reference, title, buyer (procuring entity), category, procurement method, county, published & closing dates, value + currency (KES), status, awarded supplier company, award value, document links, source URL
- Filters: keyword, procuring entity / county, category (Goods, Works, Consultancy, Non-Consultancy), date-from, max results
- **Only new since last run** mode – ideal for daily tender alerts (schedule it and get just the new tenders)
- Retries with exponential backoff and a polite rate limit

### Privacy

Only organisation and company names are output. The actor does **not** collect personal names, phone numbers or email addresses of officials, subscribers, bidders, directors or owners.

### Input example

```json
{ "mode": "both", "keyword": "road", "category": "Works", "dateFrom": "2026-10-01", "maxResults": 100, "onlyNew": true }
```

### Output example

```json
{ "recordType": "award", "ocid": "ocds-5whusi-309033-M.T.T.C/R/006/2026-2028", "title": "Supply and delivery of fresh vegetables",
  "buyer": "MURANG'A TEACHERS TRAINING COLLEGE", "category": "Goods", "county": "Muranga", "awardDate": "2026-07-17",
  "currency": "KES", "status": "awarded", "awardSupplier": "BOSARIKA FARM", "awardValue": 190820, "sourceUrl": "https://tenders.go.ke/tenders/309033" }
```

### Notes

- County is inferred from the procuring entity's name/address and may be empty for national bodies.
- Data source: PPIP public JSON API (`/api/active-tenders`, `/api/tender`, `/api/get/all/published-contracts`); OCDS bulk files are also listed at `/api/ocds/index` and on the [OCP Data Registry](https://data.open-contracting.org/en/publication/147).
- Use cases: tender alerts for suppliers, bid/no-bid research, competitor award tracking, procurement analytics, journalism and transparency research.
