## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Steam Scraper: Game Prices, Top Sellers, New Releases & Reviews

Scrape the **Steam store**: the **top sellers**, new releases, specials (discounts) and upcoming charts, **keyword search** with sorting and filters, and full **game details** for any app ID or store URL: price and discount in your country's currency, release date, developers, publishers, genres, categories, platforms, Metacritic score, DLC count and **review score**. Switch to reviews mode to get **user reviews** with playtime, votes and language. No login and no browser needed.

- ✅ Charts: `topsellers`, `globaltopsellers`, `newtrending`, `comingsoon`, `specials`, `toprated`, `newreleases`
- ✅ **Search** by keyword, sorted by relevance, release date, reviews, price or name, with only-discounted and only-free filters
- ✅ **Prices in any country** (`country: de` gives EUR, `gb` gives GBP) with discount %
- ✅ **Review summary**: `review_score_desc` (such as "Very Positive"), `positive_pct` and `total_reviews`
- ✅ **User reviews** mode: text, recommended or not, playtime at review, helpful and funny votes, language, Steam Deck flag
- ✅ **Only new reviews** monitoring for review alerts. You pay only for new reviews.

### Pricing

Pay per event, no subscription:

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Game with details and review summary | **$0.001** ($1 per 1,000) |
| User review | $0.0003 ($0.30 per 1,000) |
| Actor start (per run) | $0.002 |

The default run (20 top sellers) costs about $0.022. 1,000 reviews cost $0.30.

### Use cases

- **Game market research**: what sells, at which price, in which genre and country.
- **Price and discount tracking**: daily snapshots of the specials chart or your own watchlist.
- **Player feedback analysis**: negative reviews, playtime and sentiment for your game or competitors.
- **Publisher and investor scouting**: new releases and upcoming games with developer and review data.
- **Datasets for dashboards and AI**: clean game metadata and review text.

### FAQ

**Which data sources are used?** The public Steam store search, the store's `appdetails` endpoint and Steam's official reviews Web API. All are public and need no API key. Requests are rate-limited politely.

**Why are some prices `null`?** Free-to-play games, unreleased games and games not sold in the selected country have no price. `is_free` and `coming_soon` tell you which case it is.

**Where does the review score come from?** From Steam's store summary when available (`review_stats_source: store`), otherwise from the reviews API (`reviews_api`). It matches what you see on the store page for your language setting.

**How many reviews can I get?** As many as you set in `maxReviewsPerGame`. The Actor pages through Steam's reviews API with cursors.

### Need a custom scraper or data pipeline?

If you need data from another game store or website, extra fields, or the results delivered to Google Sheets, a database or an n8n workflow on a schedule, I take custom projects on Fiverr: [Python scraping scripts and n8n automation workflows](https://www.fiverr.com/sysco32/build-python-scraping-scripts-and-n8n-automation-workflows). Public data only; message me with the details first and I'll confirm whether it's doable.
