## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Alerts Radar — Weather & Disaster Warnings

Official warnings from **national weather and disaster services in one clean schema**: floods and heavy rain, storms and cyclones, lightning, heat, cold, drought, wildfires, earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanoes. Filter by country, hazard, severity and area; schedule it and get only new alerts as a dataset, an RSS feed, a Slack message or rows in Google Sheets.

**Built for** logistics and supply-chain teams, insurers and risk analysts, agriculture and energy operators, travel and event companies, field-service and facility managers, newsrooms, and AI agents that need to know where the weather is turning dangerous.

### Sources

| Region | Service | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| 🇺🇸 United States | **National Weather Service** | Every active watch, warning and advisory: floods, storms, heat, winter weather, fire weather, marine |
| 🇪🇺 Europe (38 countries) | **MeteoAlarm** (EUMETNET) | Awareness warnings from each national weather service, per region |
| 🇮🇳 India | **NDMA Sachet** | Warnings from IMD, the Central Water Commission and state disaster authorities, in English when issued |
| 🇧🇷 Brazil | **INMET** | Storm, heavy-rain, heat, low-humidity and frost warnings with affected regions |
| 🌍 Worldwide | **GDACS** (UN OCHA, European Commission) | Tropical cyclones, floods, droughts, earthquakes, volcanoes and wildfires with alert level |
| 🌍 Worldwide | **USGS** | Earthquakes of magnitude 4.5 and above |

All are official public feeds built on the Common Alerting Protocol (CAP). No logins, no keys.

### Why this Actor

- **One schema for every service.** `event`, `hazard`, `severity`, `urgency`, `certainty`, `headline`, `description`, `instruction`, `areas`, `sentAt`, `onset`, `expires`, `sender`, `url`, plus `magnitude` and `point` for earthquakes.
- **Hazard types across languages.** "Tempestade", "Gewitter", "Flash Flood Warning" and "Squally weather" all land in one `hazard` value (`storm`, `flood`, `heat`, `cold`, `drought`, `fire`, `earthquake`…).
- **Only what matters.** States or provinces (pick from the list or type `Kerala`, `Texas`, `IN-MH`; misspellings get a suggestion), minimum severity (moderate by default), hazards, district or city names and keywords; expired alerts are left out.
- **Alert feeds.** Turn on *Only new alerts* and schedule it every 15 minutes or hourly: each run returns only what earlier runs didn't deliver. Follow the Standby URL with `&format=atom` in any feed reader, or send results to Slack, Discord, Google Sheets or a webhook.
- **For AI agents.** Callable as an MCP tool.

### How to use it

```json
{
  "states": ["Kerala", "Tamil Nadu"],
  "hazards": ["rain", "flood", "storm"],
  "minSeverity": "severe",
  "onlyNew": true
}
```

### Output

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `sentAt`, `onset`, `expires` | When it was issued, when it starts and ends (UTC) |
| `country`, `subdivisions`, `areas`, `point` | ISO country, ISO 3166-2 states (`IN-KL`, `US-TX`), area names as published, `[lat, lon]` when given |
| `event`, `hazard`, `categories` | The issuing service's event name, our hazard type, CAP categories |
| `severity`, `urgency`, `certainty` | CAP values (`extreme`, `severe`, `moderate`, `minor`) |
| `headline`, `description`, `instruction` | As published (English when the service issues it) |
| `messageType` | `alert`, `update` or `cancel` |
| `sender`, `attribution`, `url` | Who issued it, the credit to show, the official page or CAP document |

### Pricing

**$2 per 1,000 alerts** plus a small start fee per run. Alerts that don't match your filters, and (with *Only new alerts*) alerts already delivered, are free.

### Good to know

These are copies of official warnings for monitoring and analysis, not an emergency notification service: always follow the issuing authority. When you republish alerts, show the `attribution` and the issue time and link to the source. MeteoAlarm asks redistributors to publish: "Time delays between this website and the www.meteoalarm.org website are possible. For the most up-to-date awareness information as published by the participating National Meteorological and Hydrological Services, please refer to www.meteoalarm.org."

# Actor input Schema

## `countries` (type: `array`):

ISO codes or names, e.g. IN, US, BR, DE, or EU for every MeteoAlarm country. Empty = every country the sources cover. Worldwide sources (GDACS disasters, USGS earthquakes) are filtered to these countries.

## `states` (type: `array`):

Only alerts for these states, provinces or regions. Pick from the list or type a name or ISO code (Kerala, Texas, IN-MH); names are checked and misspellings get a suggestion. Use `areas` for districts, counties or cities.

## `hazards` (type: `array`):

Only these hazard types. Empty = all.

## `minSeverity` (type: `string`):

CAP severity as set by the issuing service.

## `areas` (type: `array`):

Keep alerts whose area names contain any of these (a state, district, county or city, e.g. Kerala, Texas, Bayern). Empty = all areas.

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

Whole words matched on the event, headline, description and areas.

## `activeOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Leave out alerts whose expiry time has passed.

## `includeUpdates` (type: `boolean`):

CAP updates and cancellations of earlier alerts are kept, flagged in `messageType`.

## `sentWithinHours` (type: `integer`):

Only alerts issued in this window.

## `sources` (type: `array`):

Pick specific services instead of countries.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Most alerts returned by the run (most severe first).

## `onlyNew` (type: `boolean`):

Schedule the Actor (every 15 minutes to daily) and each run returns only alerts earlier runs didn't deliver: an alert feed you pay for only when something new is issued.

## `monitorName` (type: `string`):

Optional name for the “only new” history, so several monitors can run side by side.

## `delivery` (type: `object`):

Webhook: {"webhookUrl": "https://…", "format": "json" | "slack" | "discord", "onlyWhenResults": true, "includeItems": 10}. Google Sheets: {"spreadsheetId": "<id from the sheet URL>", "sheetName": "Sheet1"} plus the service account key below; share the sheet with the service account's e-mail first. Leave empty to only save results in the dataset.

## `googleServiceAccountJson` (type: `string`):

Only for Google Sheets delivery: paste the service account's JSON key. Stored encrypted; the account sees only sheets you share with it.

## `tenantId` (type: `string`):

Optional label used to keep separate histories for different clients or teams.

## `debug` (type: `boolean`):

Save extra diagnostics with the run (for support requests).
