## Changelog

### 2026-10-01

- **A stuck request can no longer stall a run.** Every page request is now cut
off after 20 seconds and retried through a different proxy exit. Before, a
connection that hung partway could hold one page for minutes: the same search
took 6 seconds one morning and 50 seconds that afternoon.
- With "Include full listing details" on, a few listing pages per run are now
fetched directly instead of through the proxy, spaced out, with the proxy as
the fallback, and a listing page gets three tries instead of two. Search pages
  are fetched exactly as before.
- The run log now ends with a line saying how each kind of page was fetched.

### 2026-08-29

- **Fixed: titles, prices and locations were coming back empty.** Gumtree
restyled its result tiles on 29 August: the tile element changed from
`<article>` to `<div>`, and each field now has a stylesheet block inlined
inside it. Listings were still delivered, but with the title, price, location
and seller type all null, because the actor was falling back to Gumtree's
structured-data list, which only carries links. Tiles are now read by the
site's own field hooks regardless of the element around them, and the inlined
styling is stripped before any field is read. If you ran a search in the last
few days and got rows with only a URL, run it again.
- **New: price range.** `priceFrom` and `priceTo`, in pounds. They go to
Gumtree as its own price filter and are then checked again on the listings it
returns, because Featured and promoted tiles sit above the filtered results
and ignore the range. Listings outside your range are never charged, and the
run says how many were dropped.
- **New: sort order.** `sort` takes `relevance` (the default, unchanged),
  `newest`, `price-asc` or `price-desc`, matching Gumtree's own ordering
options. `newest` is the one to use for scheduled monitoring of a search.
- If you set a lowest price above the highest, the two are swapped and the run
says so, instead of returning nothing.

### 0.1.0 (2026-07-17)

First release. Search Gumtree.com by keyword, category and location, or browse a whole category. Each listing comes back as one flat JSON record with price, location, seller type, photo and the category-specific details (year and mileage on cars, and so on). Optional detail enrichment adds the full description, every photo, the spec table, the seller name and the phone number when the seller shows one. Reads Gumtree's own structured data, so the fields stay stable across site restyles.
