## Changelog

### 2026-09-08

- **A run can no longer spend more time than it has.** The retry ladder booked
its worst case up front — five attempts at a 30-40 second timeout plus backoff,
roughly 165-231 seconds for a single request — under loops with no ceiling.
Because everything was collected before anything was delivered, a run killed
by the platform timeout handed back nothing and could not say why.
- Every request now plans against the time actually left. A run that hits its
limit delivers what it did read and says plainly that the result is PARTIAL,
naming the sources or entries it never reached — instead of reporting an empty
search, which is a claim it has not earned.
- A request the source rejects outright (a 4xx that is not a rate limit) leaves
the ladder at once instead of being retried five times.

### 2026-08-30

- Every run now finishes with a status message that says what actually
happened, chosen from counters rather than from an empty dataset. A run that
returned nothing now distinguishes: no ticker resolved to a CIK, so EDGAR was
never asked (the unknown tickers are named); EDGAR refused the submissions
feed for every company; a control query reported an empty EDGAR full-text
index (an upstream change, ours to fix); EDGAR listed filings and none is of
the form family or inside the date window (both counts are given); the
monitor seeded its baseline; the monitor found nothing filed since.
- Partial runs are now disclosed instead of being shipped as complete: a
company whose submissions feed did not answer, and a Form 4 document whose
XML could not be read, are both named in the status message.
- README: filing and digest prices are now stated per 1,000 with the real
  plan-discount steps.

### 2026-08-19

- The User-Agent contact is now the actor's own Apify URL instead of an email
address. SEC's fair-access page samples an email-style UA, but the edge
enforces UA presence only: measured 2026-08-19 from a datacenter IP, the
  URL-only UA is 200 on www.sec.gov and data.sec.gov while a no-UA control is
403\. The daily health probe guards against SEC tightening this.

### 2026-07-13

- README: pricing table now discloses the $0.001 actor-start fee (previously said "no minimum" and "costs nothing", both stale after the 07-12 floor raise).

### 2026-07-12

- Invalid input no longer fails the run. The run now finishes cleanly with a clear explanation in its status message, so a typo or an empty list is easy to spot and fix.
- List inputs now accept datasets piped straight from another scraper: entries
that are objects are read through their usual key names (url/link,
query/keyword/title, name/company and similar) instead of being rejected.

### 2026-07-11

- Billing: on paid runs every row is billed before it is written, and a run
now stops visibly if billing fails instead of continuing unbilled.

### 2026-07-09

- Input is now tolerant of common shapes that previously failed the run: a bare
string / bare object / delimited string for "tickers"/"ciks" is coerced into a
list instead of erroring. Empty input still errors.

### 2026-07-07

- Initial public release on Apify Store.
- Track Form 4 insider trading, 8-K material events and 13D/13G ownership stakes by ticker or CIK.
- Form 4 transactions parsed into insider name, role, shares, price and bought/sold.
- Monitor mode with Slack-compatible webhook digest for new filings only.
