## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### What does Booksy Salons, Barbers & Beauty Business Scraper do?

It returns salons, barbershops, nail studios, lash and brow bars, massage and skin care businesses listed on Booksy, for a city and category you choose. Each record has the business name, address, coordinates, rating, review count, service menu with prices and durations, opening hours, amenities, staff names, and the website and Instagram links when the business published them. Filters for rating and review count keep runs small, and pricing is per result.

### Data source

Booksy's public search and business pages (booksy.com), read through the structured JSON each page embeds, so the data is as fresh as the live site.

### Why use it?

- Build lead lists of beauty businesses by city and category, ranked by rating and review count.
- Compare service prices and durations across competitors in a market.
- Find businesses with a website or Instagram link for outreach, or without one for web and marketing offers.
- Replace manual browsing of Booksy search results.

### How to use it

1. Open the Actor and set the filters.
2. Click Start. Download results as JSON, CSV or Excel, or read them through the API.
3. Add a Schedule and an Integration (Slack, Google Sheets, webhook) to get new records automatically.

### Input

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `city` | One of 20 large US cities. Default New York City. |
| `locationId` | Optional. Booksy location number from a search URL, overrides `city`. Works for any Booksy location. |
| `categories` | Booksy categories, searched in order: barber-shop, hair-salon, nail-salon, brows-lashes, massage, skin-care, makeup, hair-removal, tattoo-shop, medical-spa. |
| `minRating` | Only businesses with at least this average rating. |
| `minReviews` | Only businesses with at least this many reviews. |
| `includeDetails` | Also open each business page for description, hours, amenities, staff and links. Default on. |
| `maxResults` | Hard stop for the run. You are billed per result, so this caps the cost. |
| `proxyConfiguration` | Apify proxy is recommended for larger runs. |

Example input:

```json
{
    "city": "chicago",
    "categories": ["nail-salon"],
    "minRating": 4.8,
    "minReviews": 50,
    "maxResults": 100
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per event: a small fee when a run starts, then a fixed price per result returned. You only pay for records that pass your filters. Set `maxResults` to cap any run.

### Limitations

- Booksy does not publish phone numbers or email addresses on its public pages, so they are not returned.
- Some businesses hide their exact address or serve clients at their location (`mobileService`).
- Each search is limited to what Booksy lists for that location and category, in Booksy's own ranking order.
- Prices are the first price option of each service. Some services have several variants.

### FAQ

**Can I scrape a city that is not in the list?** Yes. Open a Booksy search for it and copy the number before the city name in the URL into `locationId`.

**How many results can I get?** Large cities list hundreds to thousands of businesses per category. Use `maxResults` to set the size you want.

**Is this allowed?** The Actor only reads public pages and does not log in or collect personal data about customers.
