## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store & Google Play Reviews Scraper

Scrape **iOS App Store** and **Google Play** app reviews in **one run** and get them back in **one flat, CSV-ready table**. Each row has the star rating, review title, text, author, date, app version, helpful votes and the developer's reply. You can scrape several countries, filter by date and star rating, and the price is **$0.15 per 1,000 reviews, covering both stores**. You don't need an API key, proxies or a developer account.

### Why this scraper

- **Both stores, one schema.** Paste App Store and Google Play links side by side. Every review has the same fields, with `platform` set to `appstore` or `googleplay`, so iOS and Android sentiment can be compared without remapping.
- **Paste whatever you have.** It accepts App Store URLs, numeric App Store IDs, Google Play URLs and Android package names (`com.whatsapp`). If a URL contains a country, that country is used.
- **Built for monitoring.** Choose *Newest first* and set *Only reviews since* for daily or weekly runs. Choose *1 and 2 stars* to collect only complaints.
- **Reliable.** It uses official public endpoints with retries and backoff. If one app or country fails, it is logged and the run continues.
- **One price for both stores.** Most review scrapers cover only one store at about $0.10 per 1,000, so iOS and Android together means two Actors, two output formats and about $0.20 per 1,000. This Actor covers both for $0.15 per 1,000 with one schema, and platform usage is included. You can also cap a run with *Max total reviews*.

### Input

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `apps` | App Store and Google Play URLs, App Store IDs or Android package names. Both stores can be mixed. |
| `maxReviewsPerApp` | Maximum reviews per app per country. The default is 100. |
| `countries` | Two-letter store codes such as `us`, `gb` or `de`. Each country is scraped separately. |
| `language` | Review language for Google Play. The default is `en`. |
| `sort` | `newest` or `mostHelpful`. |
| `reviewsSince` | Only return reviews on or after this date. |
| `ratings` | Only return these star ratings, for example `["1","2"]`. |
| `includeAppInfo` | Add the app name, developer, overall rating, rating count and current version to every row. |
| `maxTotalReviews` | A hard cap on reviews for the whole run, to control cost. |

```json
{
  "apps": ["https://apps.apple.com/us/app/whatsapp-messenger/id310633997", "com.whatsapp"],
  "countries": ["us", "gb"],
  "maxReviewsPerApp": 200,
  "sort": "newest",
  "reviewsSince": "2026-10-01",
  "ratings": ["1", "2"]
}
```

### Output (one row per review)

```json
{
  "platform": "appstore", "appId": "310633997", "appName": "WhatsApp Messenger", "country": "us",
  "reviewId": "14658854027", "rating": 1, "title": "Face ID", "text": "…", "author": "…",
  "date": "2026-10-12T11:39:22-07:00", "appVersion": "26.40.77", "thumbsUp": 0,
  "developerReply": null, "developerReplyDate": null,
  "appRating": 4.68, "appRatingCount": 18764696, "appUrl": "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/whatsapp-messenger/id310633997"
}
```

`title` is only filled for App Store reviews. `developerReply` and `language` are only filled for Google Play reviews.

You can export the results as JSON, CSV, Excel or XML, or connect them to Google Sheets, Make, Zapier, n8n or an AI agent through Apify's MCP server.

### Limits

- **App Store:** Apple's public review feed returns **at most 500 reviews per app per country**, made up of the most recent or the most helpful. To collect more, add more countries.
- **Google Play:** thousands of reviews are available per app, in each country and language.

### Use cases

- **App store optimization and product feedback:** find the bugs and feature requests users mention most often.
- **Competitor research:** compare your app's reviews with a competitor's on both platforms.
- **Release monitoring:** schedule a daily run with `reviewsSince` and send 1-star reviews to Slack.
- **Sentiment analysis and LLM training data:** each review comes with a clean star rating to use as a label.

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$0.00015 per review** ($0.15 per 1,000), for App Store and Google Play alike, plus Apify's minimal run-start event. For example, 500 reviews for each of 5 apps in 2 countries is 5,000 reviews and costs about $0.75. Getting the same data from two single-store scrapers usually costs more and needs two output formats merged.

### FAQ

**Do I need an API key or proxies?** No.

**Why did I get fewer App Store reviews than I asked for?** Apple's feed stops at 500 reviews per country, and some apps have fewer reviews in some countries.

**Is scraping app reviews legal?** The reviews are public data from official public endpoints. Make sure your own use complies with the laws and terms that apply to you.

# Actor input Schema

## `apps` (type: `array`):

Mix App Store and Google Play freely: App Store URLs (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/whatsapp-messenger/id310633997), numeric App Store IDs (310633997), Google Play URLs (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.whatsapp) or Android package names (com.whatsapp).

## `maxReviewsPerApp` (type: `integer`):

Apple's public feed returns at most 500 reviews per app per country; add more countries for more App Store reviews.

## `countries` (type: `array`):

Two-letter store country codes, e.g. us, gb, de. Each country is scraped separately. Empty = the country in the URL, or 'us'.

## `language` (type: `string`):

Review language for Google Play (two-letter code). Ignored for the App Store.

## `sort` (type: `string`):

Newest first is best for monitoring and date filters. Most helpful returns Apple's most-helpful reviews and Google's most relevant.

## `reviewsSince` (type: `string`):

Only output reviews on or after this date (YYYY-MM-DD). Use this with Newest first for daily or weekly monitoring.

## `ratings` (type: `array`):

Filter by stars, e.g. 1 and 2 to collect only complaints. Empty = all.

## `includeAppInfo` (type: `boolean`):

Adds app name, developer, overall rating, rating count and current version (one extra request per app/country).

## `maxTotalReviews` (type: `integer`):

Optional hard cap across all apps and countries, to control cost.
