## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## App Store & Google Play Search Scraper: App Details, Top Charts & Developer Contacts

Search **Apple's App Store and Google Play by keyword**, pull **App Store top charts** (free/paid, any country), or **look up apps by URL, ID or package name**, all in **one unified schema**. Each app includes title, developer, **rating, rating count, installs, price, in-app purchases and ads flags**, genre, content rating, version, release and update dates, size, description, icon, screenshots and its **search rank**. Google Play results also include the **developer email, website, address and privacy policy**, which makes them useful for lead generation. **$2 per 1,000 apps.** No login or proxies needed.

### Why this Actor

- **Both stores, one schema, one run.** Search results carry `rank`, so you can track App Store Optimization (ASO) positions over time.
- **Far cheaper:** $2 per 1,000 apps, with no setup fee (some alternatives charge $15+ per 1,000).
- **Developer contacts:** email, website and address from Google Play app pages, for B2B outreach to app publishers.
- **Top charts:** Apple top free and paid apps for any country, with full details.

### Use cases

App market research, ASO keyword ranking tracking, competitor monitoring, lead lists of app developers, investor and trend scouting, building app directories.

### Input

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `searchTerms` | Keywords to search. |
| `stores` | `appstore`, `googleplay` (default both). |
| `apps` | URLs, Apple IDs or package names for detail lookups. |
| `appleCharts` | `top-free`, `top-paid`. |
| `country` / `language` | Store country (default `us`), Google Play text language (default `en`). |
| `maxResultsPerSearch` | Per search and store, per chart (default 50). |
| `includeGooglePlayDetails` | Full Play details incl. developer email (default on). |
| `minRating` | Skip low-rated apps. |
| `maxTotalApps` | Hard cap for the run. |

```json
{ "searchTerms": ["habit tracker", "meditation"], "appleCharts": ["top-free"], "country": "us", "maxResultsPerSearch": 100 }
```

### Output

```json
{
  "store": "googleplay", "appId": "com.roehl.habitkit", "title": "Habit Tracker - HabitKit", "rank": 4,
```

App Store rows have the same fields; developer email, installs and ads flags aren't published by Apple, so they're `null`. App Store rows add `sizeBytes`, `minOsVersion`, `languages` and `releaseNotes`.

### Pricing

**$2.00 per 1,000 apps**, plus $0.00005 per run start.
