## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Canadian Charities with Financials (CRA T3010)

Export every Canadian registered charity that filed a T3010 information return, about 85,000 organizations, with their **financials, staff numbers, and website**, straight from the Canada Revenue Agency's open data. Built for fundraising and grant prospect research, nonprofit software and services sales, sector analysts, journalists, and AI agents that need reliable facts about Canadian charities.

### What you get

For every charity: registration number, name and legal name, CRA category (e.g. Core Health Care, Community Resource, Foundations) and sub-category code, designation (charitable organization, public or private foundation), full address, website, and a link to the charity's page on the CRA site. From the latest annual return:

- **Revenue**: total revenue, tax-receipted gifts, gifts from other charities, other gifts, and federal, provincial, and municipal government funding.
- **Spending**: total expenditures, charitable programs, management and administration, fundraising, and gifts to qualified donees.
- **Balance sheet**: total assets and total liabilities.
- **Staff**: permanent full-time positions, part-time employees, part-time compensation, and total compensation.

### Filters

- **Business numbers** and **Name contains**.
- **Categories** and **Designations**.
- **Provinces**, **Cities**, **Postal code prefixes**.
- **Minimum / maximum total revenue** and **Minimum full-time staff**.

### Pricing

Pay per event: one `charity` event per record saved. Downloading and joining the data costs you nothing. Set a maximum total charge and the Actor stops cleanly when it is reached. A full export runs in well under a minute.

### Data, licence, and privacy

Data comes from the CRA's "List of charities" datasets on open.canada.ca, published under the **Open Government Licence - Canada**, which allows commercial use with attribution: "Contains information licensed under the Open Government Licence - Canada". Each run picks the newest complete year automatically.

The Actor never uses the directors and officers file, so it returns no personal names. Compensation is only reported as the aggregate totals the CRA publishes.
