## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Earnings Reports Scraper: SEC 8-K Press Releases

Get every quarterly earnings release the moment it hits the SEC, straight from EDGAR, with the full press-release text and headline numbers already pulled out. Built for earnings-season trackers, equity research, financial news automation, and AI agents that need the actual report rather than a third-party summary.

Companies must file an 8-K with **Item 2.02, Results of Operations and Financial Condition**, when they announce results. This Actor finds those filings for any date range or set of tickers, opens the filing, locates the EX-99.1 press release, and returns it as clean text.

### What you get

One record per earnings release:

- **Who and when**: company name, tickers, CIK, SIC code, state, filing date, period ending, the 8-K items it reports.
- **Links**: filing index, primary 8-K document, press release (EX-99.1), and every EX-99 exhibit such as investor presentations.
- **Press release text**: the full release as plain text, truncated at a length you choose.
- **Headline figures**: EPS values mentioned in the text, the first revenue figure, and the opening headline sentence. These are best-effort regular-expression extractions, so verify them against the text for anything that matters.

```
### Filters
- **Filed from / Filed to**: date range of the filing date. Defaults to the last seven days, so a daily run gets everything new.
- **Tickers**: restrict to specific companies. Tickers are resolved to SEC CIKs through the SEC's own ticker file.
- **Only earnings releases**: on by default. Turn off to pull any 8-K matching the search text, for example guidance updates.
- **Full-text search**: override the EDGAR query, for example `"record revenue"` or `"restructuring"`.
- **Fetch press release text** and **Maximum press release characters** control the heavy part of the run.
### Pricing
Pay per event: one `earnings-report` event per filing saved. Searching costs you nothing. Set a maximum total charge and the Actor stops cleanly when it is reached. Earnings season produces several hundred releases a day; use a ticker list or a tight date range to keep runs small.
### Data and fair use
All data comes from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's EDGAR system and is in the public domain. The Actor follows the SEC's fair-access rules: it sends a declared user agent, makes one request at a time, and stays well under the SEC's rate limit. Add your email in the **Contact** field if you run it at volume, as the SEC asks of automated clients.
