## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Flight Price Scraper

Clean-room Apify Actor with an input contract and normalized output compatible with `makework36/flight-price-scraper` consumers. It searches **Skyscanner's Android unified-search API**, deduplicates itineraries, sorts by price, and writes one dataset item per itinerary.

Provider-specific price maps contain `skyscanner`, booking links point to the exact Skyscanner search, and Best/Cheapest/Fastest buckets are preserved in `highlights`. Airport, carrier, segment, layover, price, and self-transfer fields come from Skyscanner's structured response. Baggage fields that are absent from the search response remain `null`.

Skyscanner commonly blocks datacenter traffic, so the default input uses Apify Residential Proxy and retries up to three fresh sessions.

### Input

```json
{
  "origin": "LAX",
  "destination": "JFK",
  "departDate": "2026-12-10",
  "returnDate": "2026-12-20",
  "adults": 1,
  "cabinClass": "ECONOMY",
  "currency": "USD",
  "maxFlights": 50
}
```

Optional `departDateEnd` searches an inclusive range of up to 31 departure dates. Optional `maxStops` filters the normalized results.

For Australia, set `skyscannerMarket` to `AU`. If currency and locale are omitted, the Actor automatically uses `AUD`, `en-AU`, `www.skyscanner.com.au`, and an AU residential proxy. Example: `SYD` to `DEL`, departing `2026-09-19` and returning `2026-09-28`.

### Output

Each item includes route and schedule fields plus `prices`, `bestPrice`, `cheapestSource`, `sourcesFound`, `segments`, baggage placeholders, booking links, and `scrapedAt`.

Round-trip results also include explicit `outboundJourney` and `returnJourney` objects. Each journey contains its own airline, first flight code, departure and arrival times, duration, stops, route, segments, and layovers.

### Local check

```bash
npm test
```

3-letter IATA airport code.

## `destination` (type: `string`):

3-letter IATA airport code.

## `departDate` (type: `string`):

Start date in YYYY-MM-DD format.

## `departDateEnd` (type: `string`):

Search every departure date through this date (maximum 31 days).

## `returnDate` (type: `string`):

Return date in YYYY-MM-DD format. Omit, pass an empty string, or pass null for one-way.

## `adults` (type: `integer`):

Number of adult passengers.

## `cabinClass` (type: `string`):

Travel cabin to search.

## `maxStops` (type: `integer`):

Optional maximum number of stops.

## `currency` (type: `string`):

3-letter ISO currency code. Leave empty to use the market default (AUD for AU, USD for US).

## `skyscannerMarket` (type: `string`):

2-letter Skyscanner market code.

## `skyscannerLocale` (type: `string`):

BCP-47 locale used by Skyscanner. Leave empty to use the market default (en-AU for AU, en-US for US).

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Residential proxy is recommended. When no country is selected, the Actor uses the Skyscanner market (for example AU).

## `maxFlights` (type: `integer`):

Maximum results across all searched dates.
