## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Facebook Ads Library Scraper

Find and export public ads from Meta's Facebook Ad Library without logging in, buying an API key, or configuring a paid proxy. Search by keyword, advertiser, or Page name and receive structured creative, advertiser, delivery, platform, and transparency data.

Use this Actor for competitor ad research, creative inspiration, campaign monitoring, offer analysis, brand intelligence, and political-ad transparency research.

### Input

| Field | Type | Required | Default | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `query` | string | Yes | `nike` (prefill) | Search term, advertiser, or Page name. |
| `country` | string | No | `US` | Two-letter country code, such as `US`, `GB`, or `DE`. |
| `adType` | string | No | `all` | `all` or `political_and_issue_ads`. |
| `activeStatus` | string | No | `all` | `all`, `active`, or `inactive`. |
| `maxAds` | integer | No | `50` | Maximum unique ads to return, from 1 to 200. |

Example input:

```json
{
  "query": "nike",
  "country": "US",
  "adType": "all",
  "activeStatus": "all",
  "maxAds": 50
}
```

### Output

Each dataset item contains:

- `adArchiveId`, `pageName`, and `pageId` — Meta Ad Library and advertiser identifiers
- `adText` and `title` — the primary creative copy
- `ctaText`, `ctaType`, `linkUrl`, and `displayUrl` — call-to-action and destination data
- `images` — image URLs found in the creative
- `videos` — video asset metadata exposed by Meta
- `startDate` and `endDate` — ISO 8601 delivery dates
- `isActive` and `platforms` — current status and publisher platforms
- `impressionsText` and `spendText` — transparency ranges when Meta publishes them

Example output:

```json
{
  "adArchiveId": "123456789012345",
  "pageName": "Example Brand",
  "pageId": "123456789",
  "adText": "Discover our latest collection.",
  "title": "Shop new arrivals",
  "ctaText": "Shop now",
  "ctaType": "SHOP_NOW",
  "linkUrl": "https://example.com/new",
  "displayUrl": "example.com",
  "images": ["https://scontent.example/image.jpg"],
  "videos": [],
  "startDate": "2026-07-01T07:00:00.000Z",
  "endDate": "",
  "isActive": true,
  "platforms": ["FACEBOOK", "INSTAGRAM"],
  "impressionsText": "",
  "spendText": ""
}
```

### Run locally

Use Node.js 20 or newer:

```bash
npm install
npm start
```

For local Apify storage, save the input as `storage/key_value_stores/default/INPUT.json` before starting the Actor. Results are written to `storage/datasets/default/`.

### Data source and cost

The Actor reads Meta's free, public Ad Library web data with native `fetch`. It uses the legacy async search response when available and Meta's current anonymous Relay response when the endpoint variant changes. It does not require Facebook login credentials, paid APIs, or paid proxy services. Use of the data remains subject to Meta's applicable terms and policies.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
