## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## AusTender Scraper: Australian Government Contracts to Excel

**Export Australian Government contract awards from AusTender to Excel, CSV or JSON in seconds, with no API key.** AusTender publishes about 800 Commonwealth contract notices a week (847 in an 8-day test window, Oct 2026). This Actor reads the **official AusTender OCDS API**, filters by **keyword, UNSPSC, agency, supplier or ABN, value and dates**, and returns one clean row per contract: supplier and ABN, value, start and end dates, procurement method and notice link. Use the **contract end date** filter to find contracts about to expire (re-tender leads), and schedule **"only new"** for daily alerts.

AusTender is the official procurement system of the Commonwealth (Department of Defence, Services Australia, the ATO, Home Affairs and the other Commonwealth agencies). Every contract of AUD 10,000 or more must be published there. Extra fields include the limited-tender reason, agency branch and division, and contract amendments.

Built by **TenderFeed** ([apify.com/tenderfeed](https://apify.com/tenderfeed)) on the official **AusTender OCDS API** (Open Contracting Data Standard, CC BY 3.0 AU). No API key, no login, no browser.

### What can you do with it?

- **Find contracts about to expire** (`dateType: contractEnd` with a future window): the best early signal of upcoming re-tenders.
- **Competitor and partner intelligence**: every contract a company won, by name or ABN, with values.
- **Sales prospecting**: which agencies buy your category (UNSPSC), how much and through which method (open or limited tender).
- **Market research and journalism**: spend by agency, supplier and category.
- **AI agents**: call it as an **MCP tool** and ask *"Which IT contracts over $1M with Defence end in the next 3 months?"*

### Input example

```
Other fields: `contractNoticeId`, `apiUrl`, `limitedTenderReason`, `exemption`, `buyerBranch`, `buyerDivision`, `supplierPostcode`, `supplierCountry`, `contractSigned`, `publishedAtTime` and `amendments` (value and date changes). Amendment notices are separate rows with `isAmendment: true`; turn off `includeAmendments` to skip them.
#### Field coverage (live test, 100 notices published 2026-10-23 to 2026-10-29)
Value, supplier, UNSPSC, start and end date, procurement method, notice link: 100/100. Supplier ABN: 94/100. Agency contact name and email: 100/100 (with `includeBuyerContacts`).
AusTender publishes **contract notices** (awarded contracts). Open approaches-to-market are not part of the public API.
The data follows the same normalized schema as our other TenderFeed Actors ([EU TED](https://apify.com/tenderfeed/ted-eu-tenders), [SAM.gov](https://apify.com/tenderfeed/sam-gov-opportunities), [UK](https://apify.com/tenderfeed/uk-tenders), [USAspending](https://apify.com/tenderfeed/usaspending-contract-awards)).
### Contacts (`includeBuyerContacts`)
Off by default (privacy-friendly). Turn it on to get the agency contact published on each notice; it is often a procurement team mailbox, sometimes a named officer.
### Daily alerts ("only new" monitoring mode)
Turn on `onlyNew`, set a `monitoringId` (for example `"defence-it"`) and schedule the Actor daily. Each run returns, and charges for, only contract notices you have not received yet. In our test, a second identical run skipped all 5 notices delivered by the first and returned 5 different ones.
### Sample output (real run)
One row from a run on 6 November 2026 (core columns only; every row also has description, status, procedureType, documentsUrl and more). Contact values are masked here. Since schema 1.2 every row also carries the cross-source columns `country`, `deadline`, `valueAmount`, `valueCurrency` and `cpvOrNaics` next to the original ones (`buyerCountry`, `deadlineAt`, `estimatedValue`, `currency`, `cpvCodes`/`naicsCodes`), which are unchanged.
```json
{
  "title": "Software Licences",
  "source": "austender",
  "country": "AU",
  "noticeType": "Contract notice",
  "publishedAt": "2026-11-06",
  "deadline": null,
  "buyerName": "Department of Employment and Workplace Relations",
  "valueAmount": 65218.75,
  "valueCurrency": "AUD",
  "cpvOrNaics": null,
  "setAside": null,
  "url": "https://www.tenders.gov.au/Cn/Show/22de3368-eb9a-4ae0-a362-a61e74e24c39",
  "buyerContactName": null,
  "buyerContactEmail": null,
  "buyerContactPhone": null
}
```
### Limits and notes
- **Data source:** AusTender OCDS API (contract notices).
- **Access:** No login or API key.
- **Delays and gaps:** These are published contract notices (awards), not open approaches to market, so there is no deadline. Agencies report contracts after award, so they can lag the start date.
- **Contacts:** No buyer contact persons are extracted.
- Fields the portal does not publish stay `null`; nothing is guessed or filled in.
### Pricing
Pay per result: you pay only for the notices saved to the dataset (see the price on this page), plus Apify's small run-start fee. The default run (100 notices from the last 7 days) takes a few seconds.
### FAQ
**Is this official data?** Yes. It comes from the AusTender OCDS API published by the Australian Government Department of Finance.
**How much data is there?** About 800 contract notices per week (847 in an 8-day test window).
**Something missing?** Open an issue on the Actor page. TenderFeed answers within one business day.
