## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## US Federal Contract Awards Scraper (USAspending.gov API, No Key) by TenderFeed

Track **who wins US federal contracts, for how much, and when they are up for recompete**. This Actor reads **USAspending.gov**, the official US Treasury site for federal spending (DATA Act), and returns every new contract award or IDV (IDIQ, GWAC, schedule, BPA). Filter by **NAICS, PSC, awarding agency or sub-agency, winner (competitor) name or UEI, place-of-performance state, set-aside type, extent competed, amount and date**. Each row includes the **number of offers received, value including all options, potential end date, solicitation ID, parent IDV and parent company**.

Built by **TenderFeed** ([tenderfeedhq.com](https://tenderfeedhq.com)) on the official, key-free **USAspending API v2**. No API key, no login, no browser.

### What can you do with it?

- **Competitor tracking**: every new award won by Booz Allen, Leidos, SAIC or your local rival, delivered daily.
- **Recompete pipeline**: `potentialEndDate` and `baseAndAllOptionsValue` show which contracts in your NAICS expire in the next 12–24 months.
- **Teaming and partner search**: find small businesses that win SDVOSB, 8(a), HUBZone or WOSB set-asides in your agency and state.
- **Pricing and bid/no-bid intel**: `numberOfOffers`, `extentCompeted` and `pricingType` tell you how competitive a market really is.
- **AI agents**: call it as an **MCP tool** and ask *"Who won VA construction contracts over $1M in the last 60 days?"*

### Why TenderFeed?

- **Award details included**: the USAspending search list has no set-aside, offers, options value or end date. TenderFeed makes one extra detail call per award (`fetchDetails`, on by default) and adds them.
- **Same schema as our opportunity Actors** ([SAM.gov](../sam-gov-opportunities), [Grants.gov](../grants-gov-us), [EU TED](../ted-eu-tenders), [UK](../uk-tenders)): opportunities and awards merge into one table, and the `naicsCodes` and `otherClassificationCodes` (PSC) columns match across them.
- **Monitoring mode** (`onlyNew`): you get, and pay for, only awards you have not seen before.
- **Handles API quirks for you**: it widens 3- and 5-digit NAICS prefixes to codes the API accepts and narrows them again on the results. It also matches PSC prefixes such as `D`, splits contract and IDV requests, and paginates automatically.

```
Other fields: `description` (full award description), `awardCategory` (contract/idv), `recipientName`, `recipientParentName`, `recipientCountry`, `recipientBusinessCategories` (e.g. "Small Business", "Woman Owned Business"), `fundingAgency`, `obligatedAmount`, `totalOutlays`, `endDate`, `lastModifiedAt` and `disasterEmergencyFundCodes`. `estimatedValue` holds the base-and-all-options value.
#### Field coverage (live test, 100 largest small-business set-aside awards, last 30 days)
Set-aside, number of offers, options value and potential end date: 100/100. Parent IDV: 67/100 (standalone contracts have none). Solicitation ID: 58/100.
### Good to know
- **DoD data is delayed about 90 days.** The Department of Defense publishes contract awards to USAspending with a roughly 90-day delay. In our test, DoD had only 1 new award dated 2026-10-01 to 10-29. To see recent DoD awards, widen the window (for example `dateFrom: "180 days"`).
- **No personal contact data.** USAspending publishes no buyer contact persons. Officer compensation data (`executive_details`) is never included. An `includeBuyerContacts` switch is not needed here.
- **Keywords** match award descriptions. These are often terse and upper-case, so combine keywords with NAICS or PSC codes for the best results.
- Amounts are obligations as reported by the agency. `baseAndAllOptionsValue` is the potential total value if every option is exercised.
### Daily alerts ("only new" monitoring mode)
Turn on `onlyNew` and set a `monitoringId` (for example `"it-awards-daily"`), then schedule the Actor daily. In our test, the first run of a 3-day NAICS 5415 search returned 39 awards. The second run returned 0, because there was nothing new to charge for.
### Pricing
**Pay per result: $2.00 per 1,000 awards** ($0.002 per row), plus Apify's small run-start fee. Every row includes the award detail record. A daily competitor or NAICS alert with 20 new awards costs about **$1.20 a month**.
### Use it as an MCP tool for AI agents
Add the Apify MCP server (`https://mcp.apify.com`) to Claude Desktop, Cursor or any MCP client and enable this Actor. Your agent can then answer questions like *"Which 8(a) firms won DHS IT contracts this quarter, and how many offers did each award get?"*
### FAQ
**Is this official data?** Yes. USAspending.gov is run by the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Federal award data is public information.
**Contracts vs IDVs?** Contracts carry obligated money (definitive contracts, purchase orders, delivery and task orders, BPA calls). IDVs are vehicles such as IDIQs, GWACs and schedules, and agencies place orders under them later. Pick one or both in `awardTypes`.
**Something missing?** Open an issue on the Actor page. TenderFeed answers within one business day.
