## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## US Federal Contract Awards Scraper (USAspending.gov)

Get every new US federal government contract award as a clean table: **who won, which agency bought, how much, when, and for what**. Data comes from **USAspending.gov**, the official source for federal spending, through its open API. No API key, no login.

Filter by keyword, agency, winning company, NAICS or PSC code, state and value. Turn on **alerts mode** and schedule a daily run to get only awards you have not seen before.

### What does US Federal Contract Awards Scraper do?

- Lists new contract awards (definitive contracts, purchase orders, delivery orders, BPA calls) signed in your date range.
- Returns the winner (company name and UEI), award value, awarding agency and sub-agency, NAICS and PSC codes, contract period and place of performance.
- Links every row to its official USAspending.gov award page.
- Uses the same output format as our tender scrapers for the UK, EU and Canada, so you can combine them.

### Who uses it?

- **Government contractors** tracking which competitors win what, and at which agencies.
- **Sales teams** selling to companies that just won federal work (subcontracting, staffing, equipment, software).
- **Capture and bid teams** studying agency buying patterns before a bid.
- **Analysts, journalists and researchers** following federal spending.

### How much does it cost?

**Pay per result: $3 per 1,000 awards** delivered, plus a tiny Apify start fee per run. No proxy or browser costs.

- A focused daily alert (one industry or a few competitors) usually returns 5 to 100 awards a day.
- Apify's free plan includes monthly credit, enough to try the Actor many times.
- Set **Max awards** to cap the cost of any run.

### Alerts mode and integrations

Turn on **Only new since last run** and schedule the Actor daily. It remembers delivered awards in your own Apify account and outputs only new ones. Use a different **Alerts state name** for each saved search. Send results to Slack, email, Google Sheets, Airtable, HubSpot, Zapier, Make or a webhook.

### Other tender Actors with the same output format

- **UK Public Tenders Scraper**: Contracts Finder and Find a Tender.
- **EU TED Tenders Scraper**: all EU tenders and awards.
- **CanadaBuys Tenders Scraper**: Canadian government tenders and awards.

### FAQ

**Is this legal?**
Yes. USAspending.gov data is US federal government information in the public domain, published through an official open API for anyone to use.

**Why do recent awards appear a few days late?**
Agencies report awards to the federal procurement system, and USAspending loads them shortly after. Keep **Days back** at 7 or more so nothing is missed; alerts mode removes duplicates.

**Does it include grants?**
No, contracts only. For grant opportunities use our US Grants Scraper (Grants.gov).

**Does it include open opportunities (bids I can still win)?**
No. This Actor lists awards that were already made. Open federal opportunities are published on SAM.gov.

**Something looks wrong?**
Open an issue on the Issues tab. An automatic self-check runs every day to detect changes in the source, and problems are usually fixed within a day.
