## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### What does Funding Rounds Scraper do?

**Funding Rounds Scraper** turns the last 1 to 30 days of funding news into a clean list of **recently funded companies**. It searches Google News editions (US, UK, India, Singapore and 19 more) and the TechCrunch, EU-Startups, Tech.eu, Inc42 and TechCabal funding feeds, reads every headline, and keeps the ones that announce a real round. For each round you get the **company** and its **website** (when an article links it), the **amount** in its own currency and in **USD**, the **stage** (pre-seed, seed, Series A to F, growth, venture debt), the **lead investor** and other **investors** named in the headline, the date, and **every source URL** and outlet that covered it.

The same round usually appears in five to fifteen articles. The actor merges them, so each round shows up once with all its sources attached. For US companies it also looks up **SEC Form D** filings and adds the CIK, offering amount, amount sold, date of first sale and a link to the filing.

Use it like a **funding rounds API**: run it in the Apify Console, call it over the REST API, connect it to Make, Zapier or n8n, or let an AI agent run it through MCP. It works over plain HTTP: no browser, no login, no proxy.

This actor returns structured round records for prospecting and research. It is an independent tool, not affiliated with Google, TechCrunch or the SEC. If you want the news articles themselves, use [Google News Scraper](https://apify.com/tenfoldfleet/google-news-scraper) instead.

### Why use it?

- **B2B sales prospecting**: a company that just raised money is hiring and buying. Get a fresh list of funded startups with their stage and size every morning.
- **Recruiting and staffing**: newly funded teams grow headcount within weeks. Filter by stage and industry keywords.
- **Agencies and vendors**: find seed and Series A companies in your niche (fintech, healthtech, AI, climate) before your competitors do.
- **Investors and analysts**: track who is leading rounds, which sectors are hot, and how big rounds are this week.
- **CRM and data enrichment**: push new rounds into HubSpot, Salesforce, Airtable or Google Sheets on a schedule.

### What data can it extract?

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `company` | Company name, with descriptors like "Cyber startup" or "German fusion startup" removed |
| `companyWebsite`, `companyDomain` | The company's own site, taken from the links in the press release or article (null when no article links it) |
| `amount`, `currency` | Amount as announced, for example 1000000000 and `INR` for "Rs 100 crore" |
| `amountUsd` | Amount converted to USD with a fixed, dated rate table |
| `stage` | `pre-seed`, `seed`, `pre-series-a`, `series-a` ... `series-f`, `growth`, `debt`, or null when the headline names no stage |
| `announcedDate` | Date of the first article about the round |
| `investors` | Investor firms named in the headlines |
| `leadInvestor` | The firm after "led by" or before "-led" |
| `headline` | A representative headline |
| `sourceUrls`, `outlets`, `sourceCount` | Publisher article URLs and outlet names of every article about the round |
| `country` | Country from the headline ("Israeli", "UK's", "Bengaluru-based"), the currency, or the Form D address; null when unknown |
| `rowType` | `news`, `news+formd` (matched to a Form D) or `formd-only` |
| `secFormD` | `cik`, `accessionNumber`, `entityName`, `industryGroup`, `state`, `totalOfferingAmount`, `totalAmountSold`, `dateOfFirstSale`, `filingUrl` |
| `scrapedAt` | When the row was collected |

### How to get a list of recently funded companies

1. Open the actor and pick **Regions** (US by default) and **Days back** (7 by default).
2. Optionally choose **Funding stages**, a **Minimum amount (USD)** or **Industry keywords** such as `fintech` or `robotics`.
3. Keep **Enrich rounds with SEC Form D** on to add filing data to US rounds.
4. For a daily schedule, turn on **Only rounds not returned before** so each run returns only rounds you have not received yet.
5. Click **Start**. In our cloud test a 7-day US run that returned 33 rounds took about 1.5 minutes; runs that return a few hundred rounds take a few minutes more.
6. Download the rounds as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or read them from the API.

### How much does it cost?

You pay per result:

- **$0.06 per funding round** (`funding-round` event), which is **$60 per 1,000 rounds**. Each round is charged once, however many outlets wrote about it. The company website and Form D data are included.
- **$0.015 per Form D-only row** (`form-d-filing` event), only when you turn on **Also output Form D filings without news**.
- A start fee of $0.00005 per run.
- Failed searches, SEC errors and the "nothing found" info row are **free**. Headlines that are not rounds are never charged.

In our 23 Oct 2026 tests a 7-day US search found 340 to 370 rounds (about $20 to $22 if you take them all) and a 2-day US search found 155. Narrow it with stages, a minimum amount or keywords, and set **Max rounds** or a maximum cost per run: the actor stops there and the newest rounds come first.

**Free plan:** Apify's $5 monthly credit covers about 80 rounds. Keep **Max rounds** at 50 or less on the free plan.

### Input

```json
{
    "regions": ["US", "GB"],
    "daysBack": 7,
    "stages": ["seed", "series-a"],
    "minAmountUsd": 1000000,
    "keywords": ["fintech", "insurtech"],
    "includeUndisclosed": false,
    "findWebsites": true,
    "onlyNewRounds": false,
    "maxRounds": 200
}
```

Leave `stages` empty for every stage, including rounds whose headline gives no stage. `formDIndustries` sets the industry groups kept for Form D-only rows; the default keeps operating companies and drops pooled investment funds, REITs and real estate.

    "scrapedAt": "2026-10-23T12:11:19.325Z"
}
```
Download the dataset as JSON, CSV, Excel, XML or an HTML table, or fetch it through the API.
### Tips
- **Daily lead list.** Set `daysBack` to 2, turn on `onlyNewRounds` and add a daily schedule in the Apify Console. The overlap catches late articles across time zones, and rounds an earlier run already returned are skipped, so you never pay twice for the same round. Use a different `feedName` for each schedule. Send the rows to Slack, Google Sheets or your CRM with an integration.
- **Websites for enrichment.** `companyDomain` is ready for email-finder and CRM-enrichment tools. Turn off `findWebsites` if you do not need it; the run is then a little faster.
- **Bigger lists.** Add regions. India uses the English Indian edition and reads crore and lakh amounts. Europe adds the EU-Startups and Tech.eu feeds.
- **Niche lists.** Industry keywords both filter the rounds and add their own news searches, so small rounds in your niche are not crowded out.
- **Undisclosed rounds.** Turn on **Include undisclosed amounts** to also get "X raises seed funding" headlines without a number. They need a company and a stage.
- **Amounts.** Currencies are converted with ECB reference rates of 22 Oct 2026 (AED and SAR at their USD pegs): EUR, GBP, INR, SGD, AUD, CAD, JPY, CNY, CHF, SEK, NOK, DKK, HKD, NZD, BRL, ZAR, ILS, KRW, PLN and more. `amount` and `currency` always keep the announced figure.
### What it skips and what it does not cover
The parser drops headlines that are not new rounds: valuation-only stories ("hits $3 billion valuation"), VC firms closing funds ("Fund III", "new growth fund"), IPOs and listed-company offerings, loans and credit facilities, government grants, charity drives, acquisitions and weekly roundups. In our 23 Oct 2026 checks, 32 of 33 rows from a cloud run and 36 of 40 randomly sampled rows from a local run had the right company and amount. When outlets disagree (one reports the Series A, another the total raised to date), the figure most headlines give wins, with stage-naming headlines counted double.
It does not cover rounds that no news outlet and no Form D reports, and it reads English headlines only, so rounds reported only in other languages are missed. Form D enrichment applies to US issuers: it matches about 1 in 10 US-dollar rounds, because many companies file under a different legal name or file long before they announce.
### Use it with AI agents (MCP)
Give Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client this actor as a tool through Apify's MCP server: add `https://mcp.apify.com?tools=tenfoldfleet/funding-rounds-scraper` as a remote MCP server and sign in with your Apify account. The agent fills in the input, runs the actor and reads the rounds itself; you pay the same per-event price as a normal run.
### FAQ
#### Where does the data come from?
From public sources only: Google News search results, the public RSS feeds of TechCrunch, EU-Startups, Tech.eu, Inc42 and TechCabal, and the SEC's public EDGAR full-text search and Form D documents. Every row links to the articles or filing it came from.
#### How are duplicates handled?
Rounds are merged when the normalised company name matches and the amounts agree within the same 7 days, across outlets, regions and spellings ("Hunar.AI" and "Hunar AI", "IDL" and "International Dance League"). The amount and stage that most headlines report win.
#### How does "only new rounds" work?
With `onlyNewRounds` on, each run saves the rounds it returned in a key-value store named `funding-rounds-scraper-state` in your own Apify account, under the `feedName` you choose. The next run of that feed skips a round when the same company was returned in the last 60 days with the same stage or a similar amount. A company that announces a different round later is returned again.
#### Why does a row have no Form D data?
Form D only exists for US offerings, the legal name often differs from the brand, and some companies file months before the news. When the name match is uncertain or the amounts disagree by more than 4x, the actor leaves `secFormD` empty rather than guess. `totalOfferingAmount` can be "Indefinite" and `totalAmountSold` can be 0: both are passed through exactly as filed.
#### Does it collect personal data?
No. Rows are about companies. Form D filings list executives and directors; the actor never reads that section. Investor names come from public headlines.
#### What happens if SEC EDGAR or a feed is down?
The run continues. You get the news rounds without Form D data plus one free row with `source`, `query` and `error` explaining what failed. Nothing extra is charged.
#### Some source URLs are news.google.com links. Why?
The actor resolves Google News links to publisher URLs: up to 600 per run, every round's first link before any round's second, so small runs get all of them and big runs get at least one publisher URL per round. Links beyond that, or any that Google refuses during rate limiting, stay as news.google.com links, which still open the article.
# Actor input Schema
## `stages` (type: `array`):
Round stages to return. Leave empty for all stages, including rounds whose headline names no stage. Pre-Series A counts as Series A.
## `regions` (type: `array`):
Google News editions to search. English editions work best: the parser reads English headlines only. Europe adds the EU-Startups and Tech.eu feeds, India adds Inc42 (crore and lakh amounts), Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa add TechCabal. TechCrunch's funding feed is always included.
## `daysBack` (type: `integer`):
How many days of news to scan, 1 to 30. Use 1 or 2 for a daily scheduled feed.
## `minAmountUsd` (type: `integer`):
Skip rounds smaller than this, after converting the currency to USD. 0 = no minimum.
## `keywords` (type: `array`):
Optional words such as fintech, healthtech or robotics. A round is kept when any keyword appears in one of its headlines or snippets. Each keyword also adds its own news search, so niche rounds are not missed.
## `includeSecFormD` (type: `boolean`):
Match each round's company to SEC Form D filings and add the CIK, accession number, industry group, state, offering amount, amount sold, date of first sale and filing link. Company-level data only. If SEC is unreachable, rows are returned without it.
## `includeFormDOnly` (type: `boolean`):
Add operating companies that filed a new Form D in the date window but were not in the news ($0.015 each, rowType formd-only). Funds, SPVs and real-estate vehicles are filtered out.
## `formDIndustries` (type: `array`):
Industry groups kept for Form D-only rows. The default keeps operating companies and leaves out pooled investment funds, REITs and real estate.
## `includeUndisclosed` (type: `boolean`):
Also return rounds whose headline names the company and the stage but no amount (amount is null). They are charged like other rounds.
## `findWebsites` (type: `boolean`):
Read up to 2 articles per round (press releases first) and add the company's own website and domain when an article links it. No extra charge.
## `onlyNewRounds` (type: `boolean`):
Skip rounds that an earlier run of the same feed already returned (remembered for 60 days in a key-value store in your account), so a daily schedule with a 2-day window never pays twice for one round. A company's next, different round is returned again.
## `feedName` (type: `string`):
Separate memory per schedule, for example 'fintech-us' and 'seed-uk'. Runs with the same feed name share which rounds were already returned.
## `maxRounds` (type: `integer`):
Stop after this many rows (news rounds first, newest first, then Form D-only rows). A 7-day US run found about 370 rounds on 23 Oct 2026, a 2-day run about 155. Free plan: the $5 monthly credit covers about 80 rounds. You can also cap the cost with the run's maximum charge.
