## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Wellfound Jobs Scraper - Startup Jobs, Salaries & Equity

Scrape **startup jobs from Wellfound** (formerly AngelList Talent) by **role, location or remote**, with the details recruiters and analysts actually need:

- 💰 **Salary range split into numbers** (`salaryMin`, `salaryMax`) plus **equity** ("0.1% – 0.25%", "No equity")
- 🌍 Locations, **remote policy** (remote / onsite / hybrid), accepted remote countries
- 🗓️ Posting date - filter to the last N days
- 🏢 Company name, pitch, size, logo and **badges** (YC Funded, Top Investors, Actively Hiring, Valuation $1B+, Growing fast...)
- 📝 Full job description (Markdown)
- ➕ Optional: company **website**, **industry** and exact **salary currency**

Fast and light: about **40 jobs per page, in a second or two**.

### What you can use it for

- **Recruiting and sourcing** - find startups hiring for a role, with pay and equity up front
- **Salary benchmarking** - compare pay ranges by role, city and remote policy
- **Lead generation for B2B sales** - startups that are actively hiring (and growing fast) are buying
- **Job boards and newsletters** - feed fresh startup jobs into your own site, Slack or Airtable
- **Market research** - which roles, stages and investors are hiring right now

### How to use it

Add one or more **Searches**, one per line:

| You type | What it scrapes |
|---|---|
| `software-engineer` | Software engineer jobs (any location) |
| `remote` | All remote jobs |
| `role/r/data-scientist` | Remote data scientist jobs |
| `role/l/product-manager/new-york` | Product manager jobs in New York |
| `location/united-states` | All jobs in the United States |
| `https://wellfound.com/role/l/designer/london` | Any Wellfound role / location / remote listing URL |

Then set **Pages per search** (each page ≈ 20 companies and ~40 jobs), optionally **Max jobs** and **Posted within (days)**, and click **Start**.

#### Input example

```json
{
    "searches": ["software-engineer", "role/r/data-scientist"],
    "maxPagesPerSearch": 5,
    "maxItems": 500,
    "postedWithinDays": 30,
    "includeJobDetails": false
}
```

### Output example

```json
{
    "jobId": "4817792",
    "title": "Product Manager",
    "role": "Product Manager",
    "jobType": "full-time",
    "salaryText": "$130k – $150k • No equity",
    "salaryMin": 130000,
    "salaryMax": 150000,
    "salarySymbol": "$",
    "salaryCurrency": "USD",
    "equity": "No equity",
    "locations": ["New York City"],
    "remote": false,
    "remoteType": "ONSITE",
    "remoteLocations": [],
    "wfhFlexible": false,
    "experienceMin": 3,
    "experienceMax": null,
    "postedAt": "2026-10-22T14:05:16+00:00",
    "description": "We've reached the point where strong engineering needs strong product direction...",
    "url": "https://wellfound.com/jobs/4817792-product-manager",
    "companyName": "Supervest",
    "companySlug": "supervest-2",
    "companyUrl": "https://wellfound.com/company/supervest-2",
    "companyTagline": "Supervest is an alternative-investments fintech start-up",
    "companySize": "11-50",
    "companyLogo": "https://photos.wellfound.com/startups/i/10879265-...jpg",
    "companyBadges": ["Actively Hiring", "Top 10% of responders", "Responds within a week"],
    "companyWebsite": "https://www.supervest.com/",
    "industry": "Financial Services, Investment Management, and Capital Raising",
    "searchUrl": "https://wellfound.com/role/product-manager",
    "scrapedAt": "2026-10-24T03:10:09+00:00"
}
```

`salaryCurrency`, `companyWebsite` and `industry` are filled when **Add company website, industry and salary currency** is on (it opens each job page, so it's slower). Without it, `salarySymbol` shows the currency sign from the listing.

### Cost

You pay per job returned (see the **Pricing** tab). Use **Max jobs** or a run spending limit to stay in control - the Actor stops cleanly when either is reached. Turning on job details makes runs slower but doesn't change the price per job.

### Good to know

- Each listing page shows the jobs Wellfound highlights for each company (usually 1-3), so a full role search returns most - not always all - of a company's openings.
- Company pages and Wellfound's own search are not used. Use role, location or remote listings.
- The Actor is polite: it identifies itself, waits between requests (2 s by default) and stops if Wellfound ever refuses access.
- Only public listing information is collected - no login, no candidate or personal data.
- Companies whose name or pitch indicates gambling, alcohol, adult content, dating or interest-based lending are not included.

### FAQ

**How fresh is the data?** Every run reads Wellfound live. Schedule it daily or weekly and use *Posted within (days)* to get only new jobs.

**Why do some jobs have no salary?** The company didn't publish one on Wellfound.

**Can I scrape a specific company?** Not directly - company pages are not used. Search by role and filter on `companyName`.

**Something broke?** Open an issue on the Actor page - fixes are usually quick.

# Actor input Schema

## `searches` (type: `array`):

One per line: a role slug (e.g. software-engineer, product-manager, data-scientist), 'remote', or a Wellfound listing URL / path such as https://wellfound.com/role/l/software-engineer/san-francisco, role/r/designer (remote), location/united-states.

## `maxPagesPerSearch` (type: `integer`):

Each page lists about 20 companies and 40 of their jobs.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many jobs in total. Leave empty for no limit.

## `postedWithinDays` (type: `integer`):

Keep only jobs posted in the last N days. Leave empty for all.

## `includeJobDetails` (type: `boolean`):

Opens each job's page to add the company website, industry and the exact salary currency. Slower: one extra request per job.

## `includeDescription` (type: `boolean`):

Full job description (Markdown). Turn off for smaller output.

## `requestDelayMs` (type: `integer`):

Pause between two requests to Wellfound. Higher is gentler on the site; the minimum is 1000 ms.

```json
{
  "searches": [
    "software-engineer"
  ],
  "maxPagesPerSearch": 3,
  "maxItems": 100,
  "includeJobDetails": false,
  "includeDescription": true,
  "requestDelayMs": 2000
}
