# Google Fonts & GDPR Embed Check - Find US Calls Before Consent (`that_red_bird/gdpr-risky-embeds-checker`) Actor

Warning letters over Google Fonts and other embeds loaded before consent? This Actor opens your pages (or the website column of a Maps dataset), lists every third-party call made before any consent, with operator, country and a fix. Single-visit audit, not legal advice.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Fonts & GDPR Embed Check - Find US Calls Before Consent

Opens a website the way a first-time visitor sees it, without touching the cookie banner, and lists every third-party server the page contacts on its own (Google Fonts, reCAPTCHA, YouTube, Maps, analytics, ad pixels, CDNs) with the operator, its country and a fix.
For German and EU site owners, agencies and consultants: audit one site, or the whole website column of a Google Maps dataset to build a lead list of sites that need fixing.

### Input examples

One site:

```json
{ "urls": ["https://www.example.de/"] }
```

A whole local-business list from a Google Maps scraper run (pick the dataset in the form, or pass its id):

```json
{ "datasetId": "YOUR_MAPS_DATASET_ID", "websiteField": "website", "maxUrls": 100 }
```

EU view with a German Apify proxy (banners and defaults often differ outside Europe):

```json
{ "urls": ["https://www.example.de/"], "proxyConfiguration": { "useApifyProxy": true, "apifyProxyCountryCode": "DE" } }
```

### Input guide

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `urls` | Pages to audit (home pages are usually enough). |
| `datasetId`, `websiteField` | Dataset (for example Google Maps scraper output) and the column holding the website. Social-media links are skipped, duplicates removed. |
| `maxUrls`, `concurrency`, `settleSeconds` | Size and speed. About 15-25 s per site. |
| `locale`, `proxyConfiguration` | Browser language and optional Apify proxy. |

### Output (one row per site)

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `verdict` | `RISK` (a recipient outside the EU/EEA was contacted before consent), `REVIEW` (unknown/medium third parties or tracking-like cookies), `CLEAN` |
| `googleFontsBeforeConsent` | Google Fonts requested by the page itself |
| `recipients[]` | `host`, `company`, `country`, `category` (fonts, captcha, maps, video, analytics, advertising, cdn...), `risk`, `requests`, `exampleUrl`, `fix` |
| `recipientCountries`, `thirdPartyHostCount`, `thirdPartyRequestCount` | Totals |
| `consentPlatformDetected` | Cookiebot, OneTrust, Sourcepoint... when its script is loaded |
| `trackingLikeCookies[]` | Cookies set before consent whose names look like tracking |
| `fixes[]` | Plain instructions, for example self-host Google Fonts |

Sample row (shortened):

```json
{ "type": "page", "url": "https://www.w3schools.com/", "verdict": "RISK", "riskyRecipientCount": 3, "googleFontsBeforeConsent": false,
  "recipients": [ { "host": "analytics.google.com", "company": "Google LLC", "country": "US", "category": "analytics", "risk": "high",
  "fix": "Load Google Analytics only after consent, or switch to a self-hosted / EU analytics tool." } ] }
```

### Use it with

Google Maps scraper -> this Actor -> filter `verdict = RISK` -> outreach list. Pair with `consent-mode-v2-checker` and `gpc-opt-out-checker` for an EU + US privacy pack.

### FAQ

**What does "country" mean?** The country where the operator of the endpoint is established (a built-in list of about 90 well-known services; other hosts get a TLD guess or `unknown`). It is not a server geolocation.

**Is a US recipient illegal?** Not necessarily. Many US companies are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. A hit means "check your legal basis and consent", it is not legal advice.

**Why does a site show no banner?** Many banners appear only for visitors from Europe. The Actor runs from a US datacenter by default; set an EU proxy for the EU view.

### Honest limits

One anonymous visit of the exact URL given; requests that only happen after a click or on other pages are not seen. Unknown hosts are listed as `review`. Pages that block datacenter IPs come back as free `error` rows. Public pages only, no logins.

### Price

**$0.003 per page audited** (`page-audited`); errors are free. Example: 100 sites from a Maps list = $0.30.

# Actor input Schema

## `urls` (type: `array`):

Public pages to audit, one per line (home pages are usually enough). Each page is opened once in a real browser without touching the cookie banner, and every third-party request it makes on its own is logged.

## `datasetId` (type: `string`):

Pick the dataset of a Google Maps scraper run. The website column of every place is added to the URLs above, so you can audit a whole local-business list (agency lead generation). Social-media links are skipped.

## `websiteField` (type: `string`):

Name of the field in the dataset that holds the website address. Google Maps scrapers use 'website'. Only used when a dataset is selected.

## `maxUrls` (type: `integer`):

Upper limit on how many sites are audited in one run (URLs plus dataset rows). Each site takes roughly 15 to 25 seconds.

## `concurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many sites are loaded at the same time. Keep it low; each one uses a full browser context.

## `settleSeconds` (type: `integer`):

Seconds to keep recording after the page has loaded so late-firing scripts are caught.

## `locale` (type: `string`):

Language the browser announces (Accept-Language), for example en-US or de-DE.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional Apify proxy. Many sites show a different cookie banner (or none) to visitors from outside Europe, so for an EU view pick an Apify proxy with a European country code. Off by default: the Actor visits sites directly from an Apify datacenter IP.
