## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

From **The Mine Works**, makers of [Threads Scraper](https://apify.com/themineworks/threads-scraper?fpr=ymnoit\&utm_source=apify-readme\&utm_medium=referral) and [B2B Leads Finder](https://apify.com/themineworks/b2b-leads-finder?fpr=ymnoit\&utm_source=apify-readme\&utm_medium=referral), with over 140,000 runs across 170+ public actors.

### Why choose this actor?

- **The whole agency card, ready to filter.** Every agency comes with rating, review count, verification badge, minimum project size, hourly rate and employee band as text and as numbers, location, full postal address, company phone, website, services with their share of the work and Clutch's summary. Our proof run returned **160 agencies from two Clutch directories (digital marketing, and web developers in New York) in 13 seconds**, with name, website, hourly rate, minimum project size, employees and services on every row. No Clutch account, no proxy to set up.
- **Client reviews on request.** Switch on "Add client reviews" and every agency delivered also gets its reviews: project title, services, budget, dates, overall rating and the four sub ratings (quality, schedule, cost, willing to refer), quote, reviewer role, company size, industry, location, Clutch's summary and the full interview by section. From one profile we read **20 reviews from 2 pages in 10 seconds**.
- **You pay only for rows you receive.** One charge per agency or review delivered, plus a flat start fee per run. Clutch repeats the same "Leaders Matrix" companies on every page and lists sponsors twice; each agency is delivered and charged once per run.

[![Run it on Apify](https://api.apify.com/v2/key-value-stores/cUXz95yxflDho41nn/records/button-run.png)](https://console.apify.com/actors/jjAKXWf3hsSHquFV7/input?fpr=ymnoit\&utm_source=apify-readme\&utm_medium=referral)

**Part of The Mine Works Marketing, SEO and reviews family:** [Facebook Ad Library Scraper](https://apify.com/themineworks/meta-ad-library-scraper?fpr=ymnoit\&utm_source=apify-readme\&utm_medium=referral), [Google Ads Transparency Scraper](https://apify.com/themineworks/google-ads-transparency?fpr=ymnoit\&utm_source=apify-readme\&utm_medium=referral), [Similarweb Scraper](https://apify.com/themineworks/similarweb-scraper?fpr=ymnoit\&utm_source=apify-readme\&utm_medium=referral), [Google News Scraper](https://apify.com/themineworks/google-news?fpr=ymnoit\&utm_source=apify-readme\&utm_medium=referral), [Trustpilot Reviews Scraper](https://apify.com/themineworks/trustpilot-reviews?fpr=ymnoit\&utm_source=apify-readme\&utm_medium=referral), [Google Trends Scraper](https://apify.com/themineworks/google-trends-pro?fpr=ymnoit\&utm_source=apify-readme\&utm_medium=referral).

### Try it in one minute

Paste this input and press Start. It returns the first 50 digital marketing agencies Clutch lists, each with rating, reviews, rates, employees, location, services and website, in 15 to 40 seconds:

```json
{
  "startUrls": ["https://clutch.co/agencies/digital-marketing"],
  "maxAgenciesPerUrl": 50
}
```

You can give the actor two kinds of Clutch links, and mix them in one run:

- **Directory pages**: a category (`https://clutch.co/agencies/digital-marketing`, `https://clutch.co/agencies/seo`, `https://clutch.co/web-developers`) or a category in a place (`https://clutch.co/web-developers/new-york`). Open the list you want on clutch.co and copy the address. The actor reads it page by page, one row per agency.
- **Company profiles**: `https://clutch.co/profile/<name>`, one row per company with the profile's own summary (tagline, description, year founded, service lines, industries, client sizes), plus its reviews when "Add client reviews" is on.

Apify's free plan includes $5 of credit every month, which covers about 2,400 results at this actor's price.

### Key features

- **About 35 fields per agency**: Clutch id, name, profile link, website (without Clutch's tracking tags), logo, rating, review count, verification badge, Clutch Guarantee, minimum project size, hourly rate, employees, location, street address, city, region, postal code, country, company phone, services with percent, summary, and where the card sat on the page (directory, sponsor, leaders matrix, featured).
- **Numbers you can sort on**: `min_project_size_usd`, `hourly_rate_min_usd`, `hourly_rate_max_usd`, `employees_min` and `employees_max` next to Clutch's own text, so "agencies under $50 an hour with 50+ people" is one filter.
- **About 30 fields per review**: project title, services, focus areas, budget, dates, overall rating, quality, schedule, cost and willing to refer ratings, headline quote, date, reviewer role and company, name as Clutch shows it (often Anonymous), verified flag, industry, location, company size, review type (online or phone interview), Clutch's summary and feedback, and the full interview by section (background, challenge, solution, results).
- **Profiles add the company story**: tagline, description, year founded, service lines, industries and client size mix with their shares.
- **Every company once**: Clutch repeats its Leaders Matrix and sponsored cards on every page; the actor dedupes across pages and links and fetches only the pages your limit needs, four at a time.
- **No browser, no login**: Clutch blocks plain automated requests, so pages come through Apify's unblocking proxy, included in the price.

### How to use it

#### Basic: one category

```json
{
  "startUrls": ["https://clutch.co/agencies/seo"],
  "maxAgenciesPerUrl": 200
}
```

#### Several categories and cities at once

Each link is read on its own; an agency found by two links is delivered once.

```json
{
  "startUrls": [
    "https://clutch.co/web-developers/new-york",
    "https://clutch.co/agencies/digital-marketing",
    "https://clutch.co/agencies/seo"
  ],
  "maxAgenciesPerUrl": 100
}
```

#### Lead list: agencies in a city with phone, website and size

Software vendors, recruiters and outsourcing brokers build prospect lists from Clutch. A city directory gives the website, company phone, postal address, employee band and rate for every agency; filter on `employees_min` or `hourly_rate_max_usd` in your sheet.

```json
{
  "startUrls": ["https://clutch.co/web-developers/new-york"],
  "maxAgenciesPerUrl": 500
}
```

#### Vendor due diligence: one agency with its reviews

Before hiring an agency, read what its clients said. Paste its profile and switch on reviews.

```json
{
  "startUrls": ["https://clutch.co/profile/leobit"],
  "includeReviews": true,
  "maxReviewsPerAgency": 60
}
```

#### Market research: agencies and their latest reviews

Agencies benchmarking competitors read the latest reviews of everyone in their category: budgets, project lengths, ratings and what clients praise or criticise.

```json
{
  "startUrls": ["https://clutch.co/agencies/digital-marketing"],
  "maxAgenciesPerUrl": 50,
  "includeReviews": true,
  "maxReviewsPerAgency": 10
}
```

Tip: put a directory on an Apify schedule once a week and compare `reviews_count` and `rating` by `clutch_id` to see who is winning new clients.

### Input parameters

| Parameter | Type | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| `startUrls` | array of strings | `["https://clutch.co/agencies/digital-marketing"]` | Clutch directory links (a category, or a category in a place) and profile links, one per line. Up to 100. |
| `maxAgenciesPerUrl` | integer | `100` | Most agencies per directory link, 20 to 3,000. |
| `includeReviews` | boolean | `false` | Also return the client reviews of every agency delivered, one row per review. |
| `maxReviewsPerAgency` | integer | `10` | Most reviews per agency, 10 to 500, in the order Clutch lists them. |

A directory link starts at page 1. Page 1 of a directory holds 55 to 60 different agencies; later pages add fewer new ones because Clutch repeats its Leaders Matrix block on every page. A profile shows 10 reviews a page.

### What data do you get?

Every row has `row_type`: `agency` or `review`.

**Agency rows**, grouped by what they describe:

- **Who**: `clutch_id`, `name`, `profile_url`, `website`, `logo_url`, `verification`, `clutch_guarantee`.
- **Reputation**: `rating`, `reviews_count`.
- **Size and price**: `min_project_size`, `min_project_size_usd`, `hourly_rate`, `hourly_rate_min_usd`, `hourly_rate_max_usd`, `employees`, `employees_min`, `employees_max`.
- **Where**: `location` (the office the page shows), and on directory rows `street_address`, `city`, `region`, `postal_code`, `country` and `phone` (the address and phone the company lists on Clutch).
- **What they do**: `services` (each with `name` and `percent`), `summary`; on profile rows also `tagline`, `description`, `year_founded`, `industries`, `client_sizes`.
- **Where it came from**: `listing_type`, `listing_position`, `source_url`, `page`, `scraped_at`.

**Review rows**: `review_id`, `review_url`, `project_title`, `project_services`, `project_focus_areas`, `project_size`, `project_length`, `rating`, `rating_quality`, `rating_schedule`, `rating_cost`, `rating_willing_to_refer`, `quote`, `review_date`, `reviewer_title`, `reviewer_name`, `reviewer_verified`, `reviewer_industry`, `reviewer_location`, `reviewer_company_size`, `review_type`, `summary`, `feedback`, `sections`, `is_featured`, `agency_name`, `agency_clutch_id`, `agency_profile_url`, `page`, `scraped_at`.

A field Clutch does not show is left out of the row, for example `rating` for an agency with no reviews yet.

#### Stable fields for automations

These fields were present in every agency row of our proof runs (161 agencies from two directories and one profile) and are safe to build on:

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `row_type` | agency or review |
| `clutch_id` | Clutch's company id, the same across runs |
| `name` | Agency name |
| `website` | Agency website |
| `min_project_size` | Minimum project size as Clutch shows it |
| `hourly_rate` | Hourly rate band |
| `employees` | Employee band |
| `employees_min` | Low end of the employee band |
| `employees_max` | High end of the employee band |
| `services` | Service lines with percent |
| `source_url` | Your link that found it |
| `scraped_at` | Collection time, UTC |

Every review row in our run had `review_id`, `project_title`, `rating`, the four sub ratings, `quote`, `review_date`, `reviewer_title`, `reviewer_industry`, `reviewer_location` and `agency_profile_url`. These names will not change. New fields may be added next to them.

The last row of every run that delivered something is an information row. It is never charged; skip rows that have `"_type": "info"`.

### Pricing

Pay per event: you pay for each agency or review delivered to your dataset, plus a flat $0.005 per run, whatever memory you choose. Prices by Apify plan:

| Event | Free plan | Bronze (Starter) | Silver (Scale) | Gold and above (Business) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Agency or review delivered (`result-scraped`), per 1,000 | $1.99 | $1.69 | $1.39 | $1.09 |
| Run start (`run-start`), once per run | $0.005 | $0.005 | $0.005 | $0.005 |

Agencies and reviews are charged the same. A profile row costs one result; its reviews are only read, and charged, when "Add client reviews" is on.

What is never charged:

- Links with no agencies, and pages Clutch refused even after a retry.
- An agency already delivered earlier in the run (Clutch's repeated Leaders Matrix and sponsored cards, or two links that overlap).
- A review already delivered earlier in the run.
- The information row at the end of the dataset (it has `"_type": "info"`).

The proxy that gets through Clutch's bot protection is included in the price; there is no separate proxy fee. To cap a run's cost, set a maximum total charge in the run options; the actor stops cleanly when it is reached.

### FAQ

**What is Clutch, and what does this actor read?**
Clutch.co is the largest directory of B2B service providers: development shops, digital marketing, SEO, design, IT services and more, ranked by verified client reviews. The actor reads Clutch's public directory pages and company profiles, the same pages any visitor sees.

**How many agencies can I get?**
Up to 3,000 per directory link and up to 100 links per run. Page 1 of a directory has 55 to 60 different agencies; Clutch then repeats its Leaders Matrix block on every page, so later pages add fewer new ones. For a big category, add a place (for example `/web-developers/new-york`) or use several narrower categories.

**How do I find the right directory link?**
Open clutch.co, choose a category, and a place if you want one, and copy the address from your browser, for example `https://clutch.co/agencies/digital-marketing` or `https://clutch.co/web-developers/new-york`. Links that Clutch redirects (such as `/agencies/seo`) work too.

**How fresh is the data?**
Live. Every run reads Clutch at that moment. For trends, run a schedule weekly and compare `rating` and `reviews_count` by `clutch_id`.

**Do I need a Clutch account, cookies or an API key?**
No. Nothing to sign in to and nothing to supply.

**Do I need to set up a proxy?**
No. Clutch blocks plain automated requests, so every page goes through Apify's unblocking proxy, which is included in the price. A page takes 5 to 30 seconds; the actor fetches four at a time.

**What does a review row cost compared with an agency row?**
The same: one result each. Reviews come 10 to a profile page, so asking for 10 reviews per agency adds about one page per agency to the run time.

**Is the phone number a person's number?**
No. `phone` is the company phone the agency lists on its Clutch card. Reviewers are shown with the role, company size, industry and location Clutch publishes, and the name exactly as Clutch shows it (often "Anonymous"); no contact details of reviewers are collected.

**Why do `location` and the address differ for some agencies?**
`location` is the office Clutch shows for the page you read (for example the New York office on a New York page); the address fields are the address the company lists as its own, which can be its headquarters elsewhere.

**Why is a field missing on some rows?**
Clutch does not show it: new agencies have no rating or reviews yet, some cards carry no address or phone, and profile rows have no listing position. Missing fields are left out of the row instead of being set to empty.

**Which export formats are there?**
JSON, CSV, Excel, XML, HTML table and RSS from the dataset, or the API. In a spreadsheet, filter on `row_type` to split agencies and reviews.

**Can I use it from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor (MCP)?**
Yes, through Apify's MCP server.

- Connector URL: https://mcp.apify.com/?tools=themineworks/clutch-agencies-scraper
- Claude: Settings > Connectors > Add custom connector, paste the URL, sign in with Apify.
- ChatGPT: developer mode, add an MCP connector with the URL, sign in with Apify.
- Cursor or VS Code: add it as an HTTP MCP server with that URL.
- Claude Code: `claude mcp add -t http clutch-agencies-scraper "https://mcp.apify.com/?tools=themineworks/clutch-agencies-scraper"`

**Is it legal to scrape Clutch?**
The actor reads only public directory pages and profiles that any visitor can see, about businesses and their published reviews. You are responsible for how you use the data, including Clutch's terms and data protection law such as GDPR and CCPA, for example before contacting companies.

### Integrations

- **Google Sheets**: add the Google Sheets integration to the actor or a schedule, and agencies land in a sheet after each run.
- **Make, Zapier and n8n**: use the Apify app to start a run and read the dataset, for example to push new agencies in your category to a CRM.
- **Webhooks**: call your own endpoint when a run finishes.
- **API**: start runs and read results from any language; the Python and JavaScript clients are a few lines each.
- **MCP clients**: Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and Claude Code, as in the FAQ above.

*Clutch.co Agencies Scraper turns Clutch directory and profile links into a clean table of agencies with their ratings, rates, sizes, services and client reviews, with a charge only for the rows you get.*

# Actor input Schema

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

One per line. Directory pages, a category or a category in a place, for example https://clutch.co/agencies/digital-marketing, https://clutch.co/web-developers/new-york or https://clutch.co/agencies/seo, read into one row per agency. Company profiles, https://clutch.co/profile/<name>, read into one row with the profile's summary.

## `maxAgenciesPerUrl` (type: `integer`):

Most agencies to return for each directory link, 20 to 3,000. Page 1 holds 55 to 60 agencies, later pages about 30 new ones. You pay per row delivered.

## `includeReviews` (type: `boolean`):

Also return the client reviews of every agency delivered, one row per review: project, services, budget, length, overall and sub ratings, quote, date, reviewer role, company size, industry, location and the full feedback. Each review is a row you pay for.

## `maxReviewsPerAgency` (type: `integer`):

Most reviews per agency, in the order Clutch lists them, 10 to 500. Clutch shows 10 reviews a page.
