## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## ImportYeti Scraper: US Importers, Suppliers and Product Search

[![13 trade profiles and 130 partner rows in 19 seconds, from names and one product keyword](https://api.apify.com/v2/key-value-stores/cUXz95yxflDho41nn/records/importyeti-scraper-hero.png)](https://console.apify.com/actors/UBge03jbO4vVz4chI/input?fpr=ymnoit\&utm_source=apify-readme\&utm_medium=referral)

From **The Mine Works**, makers of [Threads Scraper](https://apify.com/themineworks/threads-scraper?fpr=ymnoit\&utm_source=apify-readme\&utm_medium=referral) and [B2B Leads Finder](https://apify.com/themineworks/b2b-leads-finder?fpr=ymnoit\&utm_source=apify-readme\&utm_medium=referral), with over 140,000 runs across 170+ public actors.

### Why choose this actor?

- **Three ways in: an importer, a supplier, or a product.** Give a US importer and get its suppliers; give a foreign supplier and get its US customers; give a product such as `hdmi cable` and get the importers and suppliers that ship it, each delivered as a full profile. Our proof run turned **2 company names, 1 supplier name and 1 product keyword into 13 profiles and 130 partner rows in 19 seconds**. Filter product searches by last shipment date and minimum shipments; profiles your filters drop are never charged.
- **One row per trade partner, one charge per profile.** Every row is a single relationship (importer, supplier, shipments between them, HS codes, recent bills of lading) with the profile's totals beside it, ready for a spreadsheet. One profile charge includes the top 10 partners; each partner after that, up to 50, is charged separately, so you only pay for depth when you ask for it.
- **Names matched to the entity that actually ships, numbers you can read.** `nike` becomes **Nike Usa, 140,000 shipments**, not the small "Nike" entry with 560. `companyTotalShipments` is the company's own total (Apple: 2,443), and a 12 month count of 0 comes with the last shipment quarter and the confidentiality flag that explain it. A name that matches nothing gives one free row listing what the search did find.

### Try it in one minute

Paste this input and press Start. It returns Apple's 10 largest suppliers, by shipments to Apple, in well under a minute:

```json
{
  "companies": ["apple"],
  "maxResults": 10
}
```

Uses the same input fields as other popular ImportYeti scrapers, so you can switch without changing your input. Profiles can come from four inputs, and you can mix them:

- **`companies`**: US importers as a name (`apple`, `Wal Mart`, `Target Corporation`), an ImportYeti slug (`wal-mart`) or a link (`https://www.importyeti.com/company/nike`). One row per supplier.
- **`suppliers`**: foreign shippers as a name (`Hon Hai Precision Industrial`), a slug or a link (`https://www.importyeti.com/supplier/hon-hai-precision-industrial`). One row per US customer.
- **`productQueries`**: products (`hdmi cable`, `bath towels`, `bluetooth speaker`). Each keyword returns up to `maxProfiles` importers and suppliers of that product, each with its partner rows.
- **`startUrls`**: ImportYeti company or supplier links, read as given.

A name is matched to the entity ImportYeti files under that name with the most shipments, ignoring legal words such as Inc, LLC and USA; a link is read exactly as given. To run only suppliers or products, set `companies` to an empty list.

Apify's free plan includes $5 of credit every month, which covers about 760 profiles of 10 partners each at this actor's price.

themineworks/importyeti-scraper on Apify. Returns ImportYeti trade profiles from US bills of lading, one row per trade partner: a US importer's suppliers (type "vendor"), a foreign supplier's US customers (type "customer"), or the importers and suppliers of a product keyword. Each row has both parties' names, addresses and countries, shipments between them in the last 12 months and in all, first and last shipment quarter, shipments per year and quarter, HS codes, product descriptions, the partners' recent bills of lading, and the profile's totals: 12 month shipments, first and last shipment date, website, masked phone, freight cost estimate, 3 month growth, monthly shipments, top countries, HS chapters, shipping lanes and carriers. Call ApifyClient("TOKEN").actor("themineworks/importyeti-scraper").call(run_input={"companies": ["walmart"], "suppliers": ["Hon Hai Precision Industrial"], "productQueries": ["hdmi cable"], "maxResults": 10, "maxProfiles": 10}), then client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).list_items().items. Required: companies (names, slugs or importyeti.com links; [] when you only want suppliers or products). Optional: maxResults (partner rows per profile, default 10, 10 to 50), suppliers, productQueries, maxProfiles (profiles per product keyword, default 10, minimum 10), profileType (both, importers, suppliers), lastShipmentWithinMonths, minShipments, includeUnnamedPartners (default false), startUrls. ### Key features

- **Importer profiles, supplier profiles and product search** in one actor. A product keyword reads ImportYeti's product page for it (the top 20 US importers and top 20 suppliers of that product, with their shipments of it) and tops up from ImportYeti's own search when you ask for more, or when there is no product page.
- **Up to 50 partners per profile**, largest first: the list ImportYeti's public pages show. `maxResults` sets 10 to 50 rows per profile.
- **About 60 fields per row**: both parties, the trade between them (12 month and total shipments, share, weight, containers, quarters, per year and per quarter shipments, HS codes, product categories, up to 10 recent bills of lading with date, bill number, product, weight, containers, route and freight estimate) and the profile's totals (website, masked phone, freight cost estimate, 3 month growth, shipments per year and per month, top countries, HS chapters, top 5 shipping lanes and top 5 carriers, confidentiality).
- **Search filters that cost nothing when they drop a profile**: profile type, last shipment within N months, minimum total shipments. They go to ImportYeti's search where it supports them and are checked again on every profile read.
- **Names matched the way a buyer means them**: exact name with the most shipments, then ImportYeti's own aliases (`walmart` to `wal-mart`), then the closest name, then the name without legal words. Every row says how in `matchedBy` and `foundBy`.
- **Plain HTTP, no browser, no login**, four page reads at a time on 256 MB of memory. A run report (status per profile and per keyword, requests, charges) is saved as the `OUTPUT` record.

### How to use it

#### Basic: one importer's top suppliers

```json
{
  "companies": ["apple"],
  "maxResults": 10
}
```

#### A supplier's US customers

```json
{
  "companies": [],
  "suppliers": ["Hon Hai Precision Industrial"],
  "maxResults": 25
}
```

One row per US customer: in our run Hon Hai's customers included its own US entity, Amazon Services (692 shipments in 12 months) and Jusda Supply Chain Management. With `maxResults` 25, the profile charge covers the first 10 rows and the other 15 are extra partner rows.

#### Who imports a product

```json
{
  "companies": [],
  "productQueries": ["bath towels"],
  "profileType": "importers",
  "lastShipmentWithinMonths": 6,
  "minShipments": 200,
  "maxProfiles": 10
}
```

In our test this returned 10 US importers of bath towels, each active in the last 6 months with at least 200 shipments, read from 11 profiles (one was dropped by the filter and not charged). `searchShipments` on each row is that importer's shipments of the product.

#### Everything at once

```json
{
  "companies": ["walmart", "nike"],
  "suppliers": ["Hon Hai Precision Industrial"],
  "productQueries": ["hdmi cable"],
  "maxProfiles": 10
}
```

Our proof run of this input delivered 13 profiles (2 importers, 1 supplier, 10 hits for "hdmi cable") and 130 partner rows in 19 seconds. A profile reached twice, by name and by a product search, is delivered and charged once.

#### Job: map a competitor's supply chain

Put your competitors in `companies` with `maxResults` 50. Sort the rows by `vendorTotalShipments` for the long term picture, or by `shipments12m` for who supplies them now. `companyTopShippingLanes` and `companyTopCarriers` show how their goods move, and `vendorTopCustomers` shows who else each factory ships to.

#### Job: find factories for a product

Search the product with `profileType` set to `suppliers` and a recency filter, then read each supplier's customer rows: a factory that already ships to large US retailers has passed their checks. `recentBillsOfLading` shows what it shipped, when and in what quantity.

#### Job: sales leads among importers

Search your product category with `profileType` `importers` and `minShipments`. Every row carries the importer's website, address, 12 month shipments and 3 month growth, so you can rank accounts by volume and momentum.

#### Job: supplier risk screening

Run your own importer of record and your key suppliers. `uflpaListed` flags suppliers ImportYeti matches to the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act entity list, `internalPartner` marks group companies, and `shippedFromCountry` next to `vendorCountry` shows goods routed through a third country. Schedule it monthly and compare runs.

### Input parameters

| Parameter | Type | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| `companies` | array of strings (required) | `["apple"]` | US importers: names, ImportYeti slugs or `importyeti.com/company/...` links. Set `[]` to read only suppliers or products. |
| `maxResults` | integer | `10` | Partner rows per profile, largest first. Minimum 10, at most 50 (higher values return 50). The profile charge includes the first 10. |
| `suppliers` | array of strings | empty | Foreign suppliers: names, slugs or `importyeti.com/supplier/...` links. One row per US customer. |
| `productQueries` | array of strings | empty | Product keywords. Each finds up to `maxProfiles` importers and suppliers of that product. |
| `maxProfiles` | integer | `10` | Profiles per product keyword. Minimum 10, at most 500. |
| `profileType` | `both`, `importers` or `suppliers` | `both` | Which profiles a product keyword returns. |
| `lastShipmentWithinMonths` | integer | none | Product keywords only: keep profiles whose latest shipment is within this many months of ImportYeti's latest data. |
| `minShipments` | integer | none | Product keywords only: keep profiles with at least this many shipments in all. |
| `includeUnnamedPartners` | boolean | `false` | Also deliver ImportYeti's "Missing in source document" groups (bills of lading with no named shipper or consignee), with `unnamedPartner` set to true. |
| `startUrls` | array of links | empty | ImportYeti company or supplier links, read as given. |

### What data do you get?

Each row is one trade relationship between a US importer and a foreign supplier, seen from the profile you asked for:

- **`type: "vendor"` rows** come from a company (importer) profile: the company block, then one supplier per row. These rows use the field names other ImportYeti scrapers use: `company`, `slug`, `companyName`, `companyAddress`, `companyTotalShipments`, `vendorName`, `vendorAddress`, `vendorLocation`, `shipments12m`, `type`, `topVendor`, `vendorCountry`.
- **`type: "customer"` rows** come from a supplier profile and mirror them: `supplier`, `supplierSlug`, `supplierName`, `supplierAddress`, `supplierTotalShipments`, `customerName`, `customerAddress`, `customerLocation`, `shipments12m`, `type`, `topCustomer`, `customerCountry`.

**The partner**: rank on the page, slug, ImportYeti link, country code, all shipments between the two (`vendorTotalShipments` or `customerTotalShipments`), share of the profile's shipments, the partner's own biggest trading partners (`vendorTopCustomers` or `customerTopSuppliers`), and on vendor rows `shippedFromCountry` (where the goods left from).

**The trade between them** (same names on both row types): `shipments12m`, `totalWeightKg`, `totalTeu`, `firstShipmentQuarter`, `lastShipmentQuarter`, `lastShipmentDate`, `shipmentsByYear`, `shipmentsByQuarter`, `hsCodes`, `productDescriptions`, `mainProductCategory`, `productCategories`, `recentBillsOfLading` (up to 10 of the profile's 50 latest bills that involve this partner: date, bill of lading and master bill numbers, product description, weight, containers, quantity, shipping route and ImportYeti's freight estimate), `internalPartner`, `uflpaListed`, `unnamedPartner`.

**The profile** (prefix `company` on vendor rows, `supplier` on customer rows): URL, country and code, website, phone as ImportYeti shows it (masked except the last digits), other names it files under, 12 month shipments, first and last shipment date, top HS chapters, freight cost estimate in USD with the share of shipments it covers, 3 month growth in shipments and percent, shipments per year and per month for the last 24 months, top 5 shipping lanes and top 5 carriers. Company profiles add `companyTopSupplierCountries`, `companyManifestConfidential` and `companyConfidentialityPeriods`; supplier profiles add `supplierShipFromCountries`.

**About the row**: `matchedBy` (`search`, `redirect`, `slug`, `url` or `product page`), `foundBy` (`input`, `product page` or `name search`), `searchQuery` and `searchShipments` (the product keyword and this profile's shipments of it), `databaseUpdated` and `scraped_at`.

An input that cannot be read gives one info row instead, with `_type` set to `info`, `type` set to `error` and the reason in `error`; for a name, `searchSuggestions` lists what ImportYeti search did find. Info rows are never charged.

#### Stable fields for automations

These fields were present on every row of their type in our proof run, and their names will not change.

| Field | Row type | What it holds |
|---|---|---|
| `type` | both | `vendor` or `customer` |
| `companyName` | vendor | The US importer |
| `vendorName` | vendor | The supplier |
| `vendorUrl` | vendor | ImportYeti supplier page |
| `vendorTotalShipments` | vendor | All shipments from this supplier to this importer |
| `supplierName` | customer | The supplier |
| `customerName` | customer | The US customer |
| `customerUrl` | customer | ImportYeti company page of the customer |
| `customerTotalShipments` | customer | All shipments from this supplier to this customer |
| `shipments12m` | both | Shipments between the two in the last 12 months |
| `lastShipmentQuarter` | both | Quarter of the latest shipment between the two, for example `2026-Q3` |
| `shipmentsByQuarter` | both | Shipments between the two per quarter |
| `hsCodes` | both | HS codes of the shipments between the two |
| `foundBy` | both | `input`, `product page` or `name search` |
| `scraped_at` | both | When the row was read |

### Pricing

Pay per event: you pay per profile delivered, plus a flat $0.005 per run, whatever memory you choose. One profile charge includes the top 10 partners; each partner after that is charged separately.

| Event | When it is charged | Free plan | Bronze (Starter) | Silver (Scale) | Gold (Business) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| `profile` | Once per company or supplier profile delivered; includes its first 10 partner rows | $6.49 per 1,000 profiles | $5.99 per 1,000 profiles | $5.49 per 1,000 profiles | $4.49 per 1,000 profiles |
| `extra-partner` | Once per partner row after the 10th of the same profile (rows 11 to 50) | $15.00 per 1,000 rows | $11.00 per 1,000 rows | $9.00 per 1,000 rows | $7.00 per 1,000 rows |
| `run-start` | Once per run, when it starts | $0.005 | $0.005 | $0.005 | $0.005 |

With the default `maxResults` of 10, a run charges only profile events and the start fee. Three companies at 10 suppliers each are 3 profile events. Three companies at 25 suppliers each are 3 profile events and 45 extra partner events. A profile with fewer than 10 named partners is still one profile event.

Never charged:

- names that match nothing, and links that are not ImportYeti company or supplier pages;
- profiles whose page lists no named partner;
- profiles a product search reads and your filters then drop;
- "Missing in source document" groups, unless you switch on `includeUnnamedPartners`;
- a profile reached twice in one run (by two inputs, or by an input and a product search);
- the searches, product pages and page reads the actor makes, and retries from other IP addresses;
- info rows and the `OUTPUT` run report.

If you set a maximum cost for the run in Apify, the actor reserves each charge before it delivers the row, keeps the total below your maximum, then stops and ends as succeeded, with a status message that starts "Partial result: the max cost of this run", one info row with `complete` false and `stopped_by_max_cost` true, and everything delivered so far. A profile it cannot pay for is not started; the last profile can stop before its 50th row. Raise the maximum and run again for the rest.

### FAQ

#### What is ImportYeti, and what does this actor read?

ImportYeti is a free website built on US Customs bills of lading: the shipping documents filed for sea freight entering the United States. Each US importer has a company page and each foreign shipper a supplier page, both with totals and their top 50 trading partners, and many products have a product page listing their top importers and suppliers. This actor reads those pages as any visitor can open them, and ImportYeti's own search.

#### How does a product search work?

The keyword is turned into ImportYeti's product page (`hdmi cable` reads importyeti.com/tags/hdmi-cable, and a plural also tries its singular). That page lists the top 20 US importers and top 20 suppliers of the product, ordered here by their shipments of it, and each one is read as a full profile. If you ask for more than the page lists, or there is no product page, the actor continues with ImportYeti's search, which matches names, so those hits are looser; `foundBy` tells you which source each profile came from.

#### Which filters are there, and what do they cost?

`profileType` (importers, suppliers or both), `lastShipmentWithinMonths` and `minShipments`, for product searches. ImportYeti's search takes them directly (its recency filter knows 6 and 12 months; other values are applied by the actor), and the actor checks them again on every profile it reads, so they hold for product page hits too. A profile dropped by a filter is never charged.

#### How many partners and profiles can I get?

Up to 50 partners per profile (`maxResults` 10 to 50) and up to 500 profiles per product keyword (`maxProfiles`), within what ImportYeti lists. In our proof run, profiles of large importers and suppliers listed 40 to 50 named partners.

#### How does a name become a profile?

ImportYeti search is asked first, and the entity whose name equals yours, ignoring legal words like Inc, LLC, Corporation and USA, wins; if several do, the one with the most shipments. With no such entity, the actor opens ImportYeti's own page for the name, which follows ImportYeti's aliases, then takes the largest entity whose name holds every word of yours, then repeats the search without legal words ("Target Corporation" finds "Target Stores Division Of Target C", 35,253 shipments). `matchedBy` shows the route. To pin one entity, give its link.

#### Why does `shipments12m` show 0 for a big supplier?

Because ImportYeti records no shipment between the two in the last 12 months. Look at `lastShipmentQuarter` and `companyManifestConfidential` on the same row: Apple's top supplier Hon Hai last shipped to Apple in 2022 Q4 by ImportYeti's records, and Apple has kept its manifests confidential for most of the time since July 2019, so its recent shipments are hidden from public data.

#### What are the phone, freight cost and growth fields?

`companyPhone` and `supplierPhone` are the numbers exactly as ImportYeti shows them to visitors, masked except the last digits. The freight cost is ImportYeti's estimate of total ocean freight for the shipments it can price, with the share of shipments it covers. Growth compares the profile's shipments in the last three months of data with the three months before.

#### What are "Missing in source document" partners?

Shipments whose bill of lading names no shipper or consignee, which ImportYeti groups per country. They can be large (Wal Mart has 100,981 such shipments from China) but name no partner, so they are skipped by default. Switch on `includeUnnamedPartners` to receive them with `unnamedPartner` set to true.

#### Why do `vendorCountry` and `shippedFromCountry` sometimes differ?

`vendorCountry` is the country of the supplier's address as ImportYeti reads it; `shippedFromCountry` is where the goods left from. A mainland China factory often ships through Hong Kong. Both come from ImportYeti, which now and then places an address in the wrong country; when in doubt, read the address.

#### How fresh is the data?

Every run reads the pages live. `databaseUpdated` on each row is the date ImportYeti last refreshed its data (6 Oct 2026 in our proof run).

#### Do I need an ImportYeti account, cookies or an API key?

No. The actor reads the public pages any visitor can open, without logging in, and uses Apify Proxy (datacenter) automatically. There is nothing to set up.

#### Can I track importers and suppliers over time?

Yes. Save your input as a task and add a schedule (monthly suits this data). Compare `shipments12m`, `lastShipmentQuarter`, the growth fields and the partner ranks between runs.

#### Can I use it from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor (MCP)?

Yes, through Apify's MCP server:

- Connector URL: https://mcp.apify.com/?tools=themineworks/importyeti-scraper
- Claude: Settings > Connectors > Add custom connector, paste the URL, sign in with Apify.
- ChatGPT: developer mode, add an MCP connector with the URL, sign in with Apify.
- Cursor or VS Code: add it as an HTTP MCP server with that URL.
- Claude Code: `claude mcp add -t http importyeti-scraper "https://mcp.apify.com/?tools=themineworks/importyeti-scraper"`

#### Is it legal to use this data?

The actor reads only public pages and returns business trade data. US import manifests are public records unless an importer asks for confidentiality. You are responsible for how you use the data, including the site's terms and data protection laws such as GDPR and CCPA.

### Integrations

- **Google Sheets**: send each run's rows to a sheet with Apify's Google Sheets integration, or import the dataset's CSV link.
- **Make, Zapier and n8n**: start the actor and read its dataset with the Apify apps and nodes, for example "new importers of our product category to the CRM every month".
- **Webhooks**: have Apify call your URL when a run succeeds, then fetch the dataset.
- **API and SDKs**: run it from Python or JavaScript with the Apify client, or with a plain HTTP call (see "Copy to your AI assistant" above). Export as JSON, CSV, Excel, XML, RSS or an HTML table.
- **MCP clients**: Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and VS Code can run it as a tool through the connector URL in the FAQ.

### Support

Found a company, supplier or product that should resolve and does not, or a field that looks wrong? Open an issue in the Issues tab with your input and the run ID, and we will look at it. For a new source or a field you need, email dmineworks@gmail.com.

*Give importers, suppliers or products, and get every trade relationship behind them as one row each, with shipments, HS codes, recent bills of lading and both parties' totals, at one charge per profile.*

# Actor input Schema

## `companies` (type: `array`):

US importers to read, one per line: a company name (apple, Wal Mart), an ImportYeti slug (wal-mart) or a company link (https://www.importyeti.com/company/wal-mart). Each gives one row per supplier. A name is matched to the importer ImportYeti files under that name with the most shipments; check companyName in the rows. Leave it empty (\[]) to run only suppliers or product keywords. Left empty with nothing else filled in, the run reads "apple" as an example.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Partner rows per profile, largest first: suppliers of a company, customers of a supplier. Minimum 10. One profile charge includes the first 10 rows; each row after that is charged as an extra partner. ImportYeti's public pages list up to 50 partners, so higher values return at most 50.

## `suppliers` (type: `array`):

Optional. Foreign suppliers to read, one per line: a name (Hon Hai Precision Industrial), an ImportYeti slug or a supplier link (https://www.importyeti.com/supplier/hon-hai-precision-industrial). Each gives one row per US customer.

## `productQueries` (type: `array`):

Optional. Products to find importers and suppliers for, one per line (hdmi cable, bluetooth speaker, bath towels). Each keyword reads ImportYeti's product page (its top 20 US importers and top 20 suppliers of that product) and tops up from ImportYeti search. Every hit is delivered as a full profile with its partner rows.

## `maxProfiles` (type: `integer`):

Profiles (importers or suppliers) delivered for each product keyword. Minimum 10.

## `profileType` (type: `string`):

Which profiles a product keyword returns: US importers, foreign suppliers, or both.

## `lastShipmentWithinMonths` (type: `integer`):

Optional, product keywords only. Keep profiles whose latest shipment is within this many months of ImportYeti's latest data. Profiles dropped by this filter are never charged.

## `minShipments` (type: `integer`):

Optional, product keywords only. Keep profiles with at least this many shipments in all. Profiles dropped by this filter are never charged.

## `includeUnnamedPartners` (type: `boolean`):

ImportYeti groups shipments whose bill of lading names no shipper or no consignee under "Missing in source document". Off (default): those rows are skipped. On: they are delivered as partner rows with unnamedPartner set to true.

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Optional. ImportYeti company or supplier links, read together with the lists above.
