## Pricing

from $0.67 / 1,000 results

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Tripadvisor Reviews Scraper

Export every Tripadvisor review of a hotel, restaurant or attraction as one clean row: star rating, title, full text, visit month, sub-ratings such as rooms or service, photos and the owner's reply. Paste location IDs or the Tripadvisor links you already have, add as many places as you like, and filter by review language. Each row also carries the place name, overall rating and review count, so you can compare places in one sheet.

### Use cases

- Hotel and restaurant owners can track new reviews and reply rates for their own places and their competitors.
- Hospitality analysts can measure guest sentiment by sub-rating, such as rooms, cleanliness or service.
- Travel agencies can check recent guest feedback before they add a hotel or tour to their offer.
- Data teams can build training sets for review summaries and sentiment models.
- Marketing teams can collect authentic guest quotes for campaigns and websites.

### How to use

1. Add one entry per place to `locations`, with a location ID such as `18941405` or a Tripadvisor link.
2. Optional: set `language` to a code such as `en` or `de` to get only reviews in that language.
3. Set `maxResults` to the number of reviews you want for each place.
4. Start the run. Each review gives one dataset row with the place name and rating.

```json
{
  "locations": [
    {
      "location_id": "18941405"
    }
  ],
  "maxResults": 20
}
```

### Input

| Field | Type | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `locations` | Array\<object> | Yes | Tripadvisor places to scrape, one per entry. Paste the location ID or the page link of a hotel, restaurant or attraction. |
| `locations[].location_id` | string | Yes per entry | Tripadvisor location ID such as 18941405, or the page link of the hotel, restaurant or attraction. The Actor reads the ID after -d in the link. |
| `locations[].language` | string | No | Only reviews written in this language, as a two-letter code such as en, de or es. Leave empty for reviews in all languages. |
| `language` | string | No | Only reviews written in this language, as a two-letter code such as en, de or es. Leave empty for reviews in all languages. |
| `maxResults` | integer | No | Maximum reviews to save for each location. Tripadvisor returns 20 reviews per page, newest first. |
| `maxPages` | integer | No | Maximum pages to request for each batch entry. |

### Pricing

$1.00 per 1,000 results. Apify saves one dataset item per result and applies the Actor’s per-result price to saved items.

Pagination follows the source response. Set **maxPages** per batch entry and **maxResults** for each entry.

### FAQ

#### Is scraping this information legal?

Rules depend on the source, location, data type, and intended use. Check applicable laws and source terms, and make sure your workflow follows privacy and data protection requirements.

#### What limits apply?

Submit up to 100 batch entries per run. Use **maxResults** to cap saved items for each entry and **maxPages** to limit pages for each entry. Results also depend on source availability and your Scrappa API plan.

#### Can I start runs through the Apify API?

Yes. Send a POST request to `https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/thescrappa~tripadvisor-reviews-scraper/runs` with your Actor input, or use an Apify client library. Read the output from the run dataset.

#### Can I connect the results to other tools?

Yes. Apify integrations and APIs can pass dataset results to Make, Zapier, n8n, Google Sheets, and other data workflows.

#### What happens when one input fails?

The Actor logs a short source error and continues with the remaining entries. Transient rate limits and gateway errors are retried; if every entry fails, the run reports an error.

#### Where do I find the Tripadvisor location ID?

It is the number after -d in the page link. In Hotel_Review-g30196-d18941405-Reviews the ID is 18941405. You can also paste the whole link, or find IDs with the Tripadvisor Search Scraper.

#### How many reviews can I get for one place?

Up to 5,000 per place and run, 20 per page, newest first. Set maxResults to stop earlier.

#### Why are some sub-ratings or photos empty?

Tripadvisor shows them only when the reviewer added them. Sub-rating names depend on the place type, for example rooms for hotels or food for restaurants.
