## Pricing

from $0.30 / 1,000 results

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Tripadvisor Search Scraper

Type what you would type into the Tripadvisor search box, such as pizza rome or hilton paris, and get the matching hotels, restaurants, attractions and destinations as clean rows. Each row has the Tripadvisor location ID, name, address, coordinates, rating, review count, a photo and the page link. Use the IDs with the Tripadvisor Reviews Scraper or the Tripadvisor Place Details Scraper.

### What data can you extract?

| Field | Type | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `position` | Integer | Position of the result in the Tripadvisor search, starting at 1. |
| `location_id` | Integer | Tripadvisor location ID. Use it with the Tripadvisor Reviews Scraper. |
| `name` | String | Name of the hotel, restaurant, attraction or destination. |
| `type` | String | Place type: hotel, restaurant, attraction or destination. |
| `address` | String or null | Street address of the place. |
| `location` | String or null | City, region and country of the place. |
| `latitude` | Number or null | Latitude in decimal degrees. |
| `longitude` | Number or null | Longitude in decimal degrees. |
| `rating` | Number or null | Overall Tripadvisor rating from 1 to 5. |
| `review_count` | Integer or null | Total number of Tripadvisor reviews. |
| `image` | String or null | Link to the main photo of the place. |
| `url` | String | Tripadvisor page of the place. |
| `search` | Object | The search entry from your input that found this place. |
| `scraped_at` | String | UTC date and time when this record was collected. |

### Use cases

- Review analysts can find the Tripadvisor IDs of many places before they scrape their reviews.
- Sales teams can build lead lists of hotels and restaurants in a city with rating and review count.
- Travel startups can match their own hotel list to Tripadvisor pages and ratings.
- Local guides can compare the best rated attractions and restaurants of several cities.

### How to use

1. Add one entry per search to `searches`, for example `{"query": "hilton paris"}`.
2. Optional: set `type` to `hotel`, `restaurant`, `attraction` or `destination`, for all searches or per entry.
3. Set `maxResults` to the number of results you want for each search, up to 20.
4. Start the run and pass the `location_id` of each row to the Tripadvisor Reviews Scraper.

```json
{
  "searches": [
    {
      "query": "hilton paris"
    }
  ],
  "maxResults": 10
}
```

### Input

| Field | Type | Required | Description |

| `searches[].query` | string | Yes per entry | What to search for, for example pizza rome, hilton paris or louvre. |
| `searches[].type` | string | No | Return only one place type. Leave empty for all types. |
| `searches[].locale` | string | No | Locale for names and links, for example en-US or de-DE. Default en-US. |

### Pricing

$0.38 per 1,000 results. Apify saves one dataset item per result and applies the Actor’s per-result price to saved items.

Set **maxResults** to cap the number of dataset items saved in one run.

### FAQ

#### Is scraping this information legal?

Rules depend on the source, location, data type, and intended use. Check applicable laws and source terms, and make sure your workflow follows privacy and data protection requirements.

#### What limits apply?

Submit up to 100 batch entries per run. Use **maxResults** to cap saved items for each entry. Results also depend on source availability and your Scrappa API plan.

#### Can I start runs through the Apify API?

Yes. Send a POST request to `https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/thescrappa~tripadvisor-search-scraper/runs` with your Actor input, or use an Apify client library. Read the output from the run dataset.

#### Can I connect the results to other tools?

Yes. Apify integrations and APIs can pass dataset results to Make, Zapier, n8n, Google Sheets, and other data workflows.

#### What happens when one input fails?

The Actor logs a short source error and continues with the remaining entries. Transient rate limits and gateway errors are retried; if every entry fails, the run reports an error.

#### How many results does one search return?

Up to 20, the same results Tripadvisor shows in its search box. Use more specific searches, for example with the district name, to reach more places.

#### What can I do with the location ID?

Paste it into the Tripadvisor Reviews Scraper to export the reviews of that place, or into the Tripadvisor Place Details Scraper for its rating and coordinates.
